Trust me, I have been there - playing with all of those different ways of perfectionism at different times on my health journey, sometimes with all of them at the same time.
Also trust me when I say that there are more graceful (AND effective) ways to show up for ourselves, including our health - sustainably, with more ease and with greater longterm rewards.
(Although I will focus this post on perfectionism on our healing path - this is also applicable to many other areas in our life where perfectionism can hinder us in reaching our goals.)
Here are the 3 different ways perfectionism can hold you back...
1. You don't even start.
We want it all to be perfect and if we can‘t give 100%, we don’t even start at all. Sounds familiar? Perfectionism can actually also be a form of procrastination. Let’s make this all-or-nothing mindset part of our past.
💫 New belief: Every little action towards a healthier direction is precious. Consistent small changes are powerful and will step by step help us to reach our health goals.
2. You easily give up when making mistakes.
We might have gone through a whole week of fully plant-based meals and then one day we had a really stressful day at work, come back home and give in to that carving for junk food. This experience can feel like a failure, like we’ve ruined this whole health project. So we simply go back to the old ways.
💫 New belief: Sometimes we make great advances in our health journey, other times we take a few steps back. What is important is to stay on our path and not give up on ourselves when things get tough. Forgive yourself, see your challenges as opportunities to grow and find better ways next time. Above all, continue towards your goals.
3. You burn yourself out.
Always pushing, trying to get it perfect every time. This can be SO exhausting - mentally, emotionally and definitely also physically. Wasn’t our goal to feel more amazing in our body? Stressing out about our healthy habits won‘t get us there. As much as we need to take aligned action to move forward, we also need just as much time and space for relaxation, peace and rest.
💫 New belief: We prioritize those things that have the biggest positive impact in our life in this moment - and not more than we can comfortably handle. With balance comes a lifestyle that is actually sustainable and joyful in the long run. And it can easily grow from there - one step at a time.

Hello @rawadventuress
I think the three that you've outlined can be applied to anything in life, not just eating habits. I have done all three of these at various times and the third one is probably the most damaging because with that we also feel like a failure and it can become a pattern.
Many people beat themselves up a lot about things that they want to do for their own betterment but change takes time and trying to change too many things at once can actually backfire (I wrote a post on this a few days ago).
The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a bit more support to get funded again.
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, or using HiveSigner.
Your support will be really appreciated.
Thank you!Dear @rawadventuress, we need your help!
