Jujutsu Kaisen fans watch and re-watch the show for three reasons: the story, fights, and badass characters. Without a doubt, Satoru Gojo appears on the top of all lists ranking Jujutsu Kaisen characters based on abilities; there is just no competition in that department. But have you ever wondered who is the strongest character, based on brute strength alone, in the entire Jujutsu Kaisen series?
In this article, I will attempt to rank all the characters in the anime and the manga from strong to strongest (so far), so if you aren’t up-to-date on the manga yet, expect some SPOILERS.
Here are the top 10 strongest Jujutsu Kaisen characters ranked based on raw physical strength:
#10 Panda (Semi-grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer)/ Mei Mei (Grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer):
Panda is a cursed corpse made by Tokyo Jujutsu High principal Masamichi Yaga and a second-year student at the school. His mere size and mass make him strong enough to deal powerful punches without having to rely on cursed energy. He was able to knock back Aoi Todo, an exceptionally strong martial artist and Jujutsu sorcerer, and Ultimate Mechamaru, a robot controlled by a jujutsu sorcerer, both students of Kyoto Jujutsu High.
Mei Mei is hard to place on the list because we don’t see her in action much, but in what little scenes she has been featured, she is quite impressive. According to Mei Mei herself, she was born with a weak innate cursed technique (controlling birds) which is why she trained herself to fight without it. She is brilliant in close-quarter combat and can fight curse users and high-grade cursed spirits with her cursed tool- a battle axe.
#9 Kento Nanami (Grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer):
Nanami is often seen wielding a wrapped-up sword and is an incredible close-quarter fighter. While he is strong enough to fight one-on-one with cursed spirits of the same level or higher, he usually does so using his cursed energy and technique. The only time we see him not rely on his cursed energy or technique is in his fight with Haruta Shigemo in the Shibuya Incident arc. Nanami is also incredibly agile, fast, and durable enough to move and fight even after being attacked by a swarm of man-eating fish shikigami.
#8 Naobito Zenin (Special grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer):
Naobito is the 26th head of the Zenin family, father of Naoya Zenin, and uncle of Maki and Mai Zenin. Even though his cursed technique is not as strong as that of his brother, Ogi Zenin, he has exceptional combat skills and can effortlessly overpower a special grade cursed spirit in a close-quarter fight. Apart from Satoru Gojo, Naobito is considered to be the fastest jujutsu sorcerer owing to his martial arts and knack for strategic timing. He was strong enough to injure special grade cursed spirits. In the Shibuya Incident arc, he even caused the cursed womb Dagon to regurgitate numerous human skeletons with one punch and even after it evolved, Naobito was able to knock the cursed spirit around a room with a barrage of powerful punches.
#7 Choso (Cursed womb: Death Painting):
One of three special grade cursed womb death paintings let loose on the earth by Mahito and Suguru Geto, Choso showed great amounts of strength in his fight with the protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori, and Naoya Zenin. Even though he lacks fighting experience, he was able to go head to head with Itadori, blocking and withstanding his punches with ease and deal severe blows to him in the Shibuya Incident arc, incapacitating him.
#6 Yuji Itadori (Grade status: on hold):
A newbie to the world of jujutsu sorcery, Yuji Itadori was blessed with superhuman strength, speed, and agility even before he swallowed the cursed object. In the very first episode which introduces Yuji, we see him throwing a shot put 30 meters before it hits a soccer goal post. Later in the manga series, we see him punch right through a concrete wall and even carrying and flinging a car at his opponent without the use of any cursed energy. Yuji is also a gifted martial artist and can hold his own in a fight against even grade 1 cursed spirits with his brute physical strength alone.
#5 Aoi Todo (Grade 1):
Although he possesses cursed energy and his cursed technique comes in handy in hand-to-hand combat, Aoi, who is a third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High, can pack a serious punch even without the use of his cursed energy. We see this in action when he starts beating Megumi Fushiguro to a pulp just before the 30th Annual Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event. We also learn that, before the start of the series, Aoi defeated five grade 1 cursed spirits and 1 special grade cursed spirit single-handily during an attack in Kyoto. He is so physically strong that he used his cursed technique only when fighting the special grade curse, which is why rumors had spread that he did not possess a cursed technique.
#4 Ryomen Sukuna (Special grade curse):
Also known as the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna is an incarnated special grade cursed spirit who inhabits the body of Yuji Itadori. Sukuna’s power levels, both in terms of physical strength and cursed energy seem to be proportionate with the number of his fingers that Yuji has consumed. Even without using cursed energy, Sukuna is able to leap great distances, knocks his opponents out, and even rip off their limbs without much effort. When fighting Megumi after ripping out Yuji’s heart, we see him punch the young jujutsu sorcerer across great distances and through several building floors without much effort; this was when he had only consumed three of his fingers. Later in the series, Sukuna, after being fed 15 fingers in total, is able to punch special grade cursed spirit Jogo through buildings, destroying his jaw in the process. He is also incredibly fast and his movements are barely noticeable till it’s too late.
#3 Satoru Gojo (Special grade jujutsu sorcerer):
Satoru Gojo, who is known as the strongest jujutsu sorcerer in the world thanks to his Limitless and Six Eyes techniques, is tremendously strong. He is able to fight powerful special grade curses with ease and cause them severe injuries with his powerful punches. He even easily ripped of Jogo’s head with one arm while carrying Yuji in his other arm. Even a single kick from Satoru is powerful enough to send his opponents flying across great distances. In his fight with the special grade curse Hanami, Satoru was able to rip out its roots with ease. In the Shibuya Incident arc, we also see him casually tear apart humans that were transfigured by Mahito. However, as Satoru often uses his cursed energy in fights, it is hard to gauge his strength compared to the other characters.
#2 Maki Zenin (Grade 4 jujutsu sorcerer):
Unlike most of the jujutsu world, Maki is a non-curse user and has no cursed energy. However, she is blessed with superhuman strength and agility. She is one of the strongest cursed tool users among the jujutsu sorcerers and can handle any of them with ease. Although her lack of cursed energy and her being at odds with her family has resulted in her being stuck at grade 4, it is remarked that she could easily be a grade 2 sorcerer. Maki is so physically gifted that she was able to knock Aoi Todo out cold with a baseball pitch and easily snaps a wooden polearm in two with her thigh, something that is not easily achievable by ordinary humans. In the latest chapters, she is able to gain even more power after the death of a family member and takes down entire forces of Zenin sorcerers in one swoop. Her mere visage strikes fear in the hearts of her opponents and she is now compared to the top Jujutsu Kaisen character on this list.
#1 Toji Foshiguro (unranked grade):

He is a former member of the Zenin family and the father of one of the main characters, Megumi Fushiguro. Like Maki, he possesses no cursed energy but is blessed with superhuman strength, speed, and agility. He is also an excellent cursed tool user and can use even ordinary weapons to get the jump on his targets. He is able to deal a powerful blow to jujutsu sorcerers and cursed spirits alike, causing them severe damage. If you have read all of the manga volumes so far, you will be aware that Toji has been dead since years before the series begins. He was and continues to be feared by jujutsu sorcerers because he used his knowledge of their world to kill many of them, earning him the moniker “Sorcerer Killer”. When he was alive, he worked as an assassin for anyone who would pay the right price. His strength and speed are legendary in the jujutsu world and the mere memory of him sends shivers down the spines of those who know him, making him the undeniable physically strongest Jujutsu Kasien character.
Conclusion:
As of June 13, 2021, 152 chapters of the manga have been released and we are yet to see more action. As the series will be on hiatus for about a month owing to the mangaka, Gege Akutami’s ill health, we will have to wait and see if any more Jujutsu Kaisen characters can make it on this list.
