Medieval tales are mostly found in various themes and some are so good that they are worthy of adaptations to the big screen, but it always seems that adapting these stories is a somewhat complicated task. As a whole, it seems that the adaptations of this type of stories never end up satisfying the viewers, of course there are exceptions, but there is always something that plays against the film and ends up without shame or glory, in the worst case it is a bad movie and remains so for history. On this occasion it is the turn of one of the most relevant and well known stories in the world.
King Arthur, one of the best known stories came to the big screen in 2017 being a somewhat "different" version regarding the rest of the movies that were released years before. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is a great movie to pass the time, I certainly enjoyed watching it a lot and I could do it again but no longer with so much excitement. The movie is fine, in theory there is nothing wrong with it but I can't overlook certain aspects that slow down the credibility of some scenes and others that leave you a bit in limbo.
The movie tells the story of how Arthur is brought by fate to the sword and manages to pull it out of the stone, and then overthrows his uncle from the throne. Let's see, it's not bad that the movie is like that since that's the way the story is but it gets a little repetitive to see this kind of stories, I don't want to say it but I have to, for the whole theme of the hero's journey and the process that Arthur goes through to accept his destiny, it becomes a movie more of the pile; that if it manages to differentiate itself even if it sounds counterproductive.
The setting is simply magnificent, the costumes and scenarios that arise in different scenes are striking at first glance; unfortunately not all that is good, the film starts strong, with great visual effects generating great expectations about what will come in the rest of the film but my surprise was not very pleasant with what I saw later. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying that the fact that in some parts it looks like a video game, more specifically Dark Souls, I don't know. I mean, if at the beginning they show us great visual effects how can they give us Beowufl's animation in the moments where Arthur must shine.
On the other hand we have the editing of the movie, I'm not an expert on this subject because I don't know anything about this, but I'm sure that if the editing was otherwise maybe the movie would have been less repetitive. The way the movie uses to explain the plans the characters are about to make is good, the first time, then it gets a bit repetitive, in my opinion. The way of explaining the plan in the background while on screen the scenes of the execution of the plan run while alternating scenes of the characters talking about the elaboration of the plan; a first time is fine but a second and third time it already falls a little in the reuse of the resource.
And I don't blame the director since that was his vision of the film but it was bland to me. The cast is great, Charlie Hunnam's performance as Arthur is spectacular and not to mention Jude Law as the antagonist. However, they are not the only ones who stand out in this film, characters like Bedivere, Wet Stick, Mage and others managed to stand out enough for me to get attached to them.
If we focus on King Arthur: Legend of the Sword as a movie to entertain and enjoy the first time we watch it, I can say that it is a good movie as a main course option. At no time did I find it a slow movie, it always kept my attention enough to not look elsewhere. In short, it is a good movie with its pros and cons but if we only see it to have two hours of good entertainment we will not be disappointed. See you next time.

Los cuentos medievales en su mayoría los encontramos de diversos temas y algunos son tan buenos que son merecedores de adaptaciones a la pantalla grande, pero siempre parece que adaptar esas historias es una tarea un poco complicada. En su totalidad, parece que las adaptaciones de este tipo de historias nunca terminan por satisfacer a los espectadores, claro hay excepciones, pero siempre se encuentra algo que juega en contra del filme y termina sin pena ni gloria, en el peor de los casos es una mala película y queda así para la historia. En esta ocasión es el turno de unos de los cuentos más relevantes y conocidos por todo el mundo.
El rey Arturo, uno de las historias más conocidas llegó a la pantalla grande en 2017 siendo una versión un tanto “diferente” en lo que respecta al resto de las películas que se estrenaron años antes. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword es una gran película para pasar el rato, sin duda disfrute mucho viéndola y podría volver hacerlo pero ya no con tanta emoción. La película está bien, en teoría no hay nada malo en ella pero no puedo dejar pasar por alto ciertos aspectos que frenan un poco la credibilidad de algunas escenas y otros que te dejan un poco en el limbo.
La película cuenta la historia de cómo Arturo es llevado por obra del destino ante la espada logrando sacarla de la piedra, para luego derrocar a su tío del trono. A ver, no está mal que la película sea así ya que de esa manera es la historia pero se hace un poco repetitivo ver este tipo de historias, no quiero decirlo pero tengo que, por todo el tema del viaje del héroe y el proceso por el que pasa Arturo para aceptar su destino, se hace una película más del montón; eso si logra diferenciarse aunque suene contraproducente.
La ambientación es simplemente magnifica, los vestuarios y escenarios que se plantean en distintas escenas son llamativos a simple vista; lastimosamente no todo eso es bueno, la película inicia fuerte, con grandes efectos visuales generando grandes expectativas sobre lo que vendrá en el resto del filme pero mi sorpresa no fue muy grata con lo que vi más adelante. No digo que sea malo, solo que frena un poco la genialidad de la película el hecho de que en algunas partes parezca un videojuego, más específicamente Dark Souls, no sé. Digo, si al inicio nos muestran grandes efectos visuales como nos pueden dar la animación de Beowufl en los momentos donde Arturo debe relucir.
Por otra parte tenemos la edición de la película, no soy un experto en este tema porque no sé nada de esto, pero estoy seguro que si la edición fuese de otra manera tal vez la película habría sido menos repetitiva. La forma que usa la película para explicar los planes que los personajes están a punto de hacer es buena, la primera vez, luego se vuelve un poco repetitivo, a mi parecer. La forma de explicar el plan en segundo plano mientras en pantalla corren las escenas de la ejecución del plan a la vez que se alternan escenas de los personajes hablando sobre la elaboración del plan; una primera vez está bien pero una segunda y tercera vez ya cae un poco en la reutilización del recurso.
Y no culpo al director ya que de esa fue su visión sobre la película pero a mí se me hizo soso. El cast es buenísimo, la interpretación de Charlie Hunnam como Arturo es espectacular y ni hablar Jude Law como antagonista. Sin embargo, ellos no son los únicos que resaltan en esta cinta personajes como Bedivere, Wet Stick, Mage y otros más lograron sobresalir lo suficiente como para que me encariñara con ellos.
Si nos enfocamos en King Arthur: Legend of the Sword como una película para entretenernos y disfrutarla la primera vez que la vemos, puedo decir que es una buena película como plato de opción principal. En ningún momento me pareció una película lenta, siempre me mantuvo con la atención necesario como para no desviar la mirada a otro lugar. Resumiendo, es una buena película con sus pros y sus contras pero que si solo la vemos para tener dos horas de buen entretenimiento no nos decepcionará. Hasta la próxima.
