A lot of things happened that ended with Enola Salami, that's the king of boys herself being exiled to the U.S because of everything that happened and losing her two kids. It was just an entire mess that she left behind and also ensuring that she killed Makanaki played by (Reminisce) and also established a rule even from the U.S over the phone.
What I like about this movie
This is not a kind of film or a kind of story that you can pass on technicalities. I think Kemi directed this film. You have to give it to her because she did such a fantastic job. Kemi was very intentional about the movement, and the cinematography. Cinematography and the lighting, she was very intentional about it. I thought the music was beautiful and I liked the original scoring.
However, I did feel like they could have done a bit more work with the sound design. The editing was good it was very good. The story came with a lot of appreciation for the Yoruba culture. There were lots of proverbs.
I loved the fact that we were watching a modern film and at the same time, there was this infusion of who Eniola is. There was a big part of the story that completely caught me off guard. It was so amazing that I did not think about it.
My opinion
We didn't need it to go all the way to episode seven. Even if it needed to be, a series of three episodes would have done it. I don't think it needed to go all the way to seven because it dragged a lot. Another thing that took a whole lot of time and I think could have been developed just a little bit on and then let go of were the subplots. The additional stories that kind of filled the film or the series, I feel like a little bit would have been enough.
Another thing is the fact that they spent so much time telling us how amazing and how incredibly dangerous king of boyz is and show little time showing us how she is instilling fear in people.
Another thing with the story was that they left a whole lot of things for us to figure out and I know filmmaking strategy but if you're giving the viewer seven episodes and I have to use my senses all seven episodes, then it becomes exhausting and not entertaining.
I felt like the introduction of Reminisce (Makanaki) was quite underwhelming
Reminisce died. The sound design wasn't good in that scene. I didn't finish watching it feeling satisfied.
