Based of the book our chemical hearts, written by Krystal Sutherland, the young-adult romantic, movie stars lily Reinhart and Austin Abrams as the main characters. The story revolves around the character Henry page played by Austin Abrams, falling in love with the emotionally and physically scared Grace Town played by lily Reinhart. Young Adult movies most often than not come out as corny, cliche-ish, romantic movies filled with hot jock boys and stunning dreamy eyed female leads, but the beauty of this movie is in its deviation from the typical as it is seen to dive beneath the scene of the glamour and fun that youth represents into the emotional, mental and psychological warfare that seems to encompass youths on the bridge of adulthood. Apart from some unnecessary scenes and some unnecessary characters that I feel wasn't relevant to the development of the plot as a whole , the movie was a brilliant watch. The chemistry between the two main characters was palpable, as an audience, watching Austin become heart sick in love with the unattainable Grace, and seeing lily wrestle her depression as Grace was heart wrenching. If you're interested in watching a movie that shows the raw and unfiltered emotions of love, loss and youth, then you should see this.
