Tv Shows I’d rewatch in a heartbeat ❤️ - Part 1

Working from home has become a reality for a lot of people over the past two years. As much as we all had to adjust to this new routine, it gave us a bit of extra time to enjoy stuff we like. My down time usually involves TV so for me, quarantine gave me the opportunity to indulge in my favourite tv shows I grew up watching. So I present to you a list of some of the tv series I’ve re-watched and/ or plan on watching again 😊

One Tree Hill

Starting off with a classic. OTH was all we talked about when we were in high school. Everybody was obsessed with Lucas and Peyton’s relationship, girls wanted to be like Brooke and don’t get me started on Haley and Nathan - come on, they were perfect for each other and made all of us dream about having something as magical as their relationship.

Most of the story lines were so well written (I mean, I still wanted Peyton and Jake to end up together but oh well…), the development of almost every single one of the characters was amazing and actually believable, the show also touched on so many topics that were and still are quite relatable to teens. And damn, let’s not forget the soundtrack, musical guests (Alanis Morissette, Gavin DeGraw, Fall Out Boy etc.) and, of course, Gavin DeGraw’s “I don’t wanna be” - such a pivotal song for this era 😍

A little note though, in case you decide to re-watch this in your late 20s - early 30s, you’ll most likely end up disliking Lucas. Personal opinion: I have no idea how girls were falling for him, he’s such a brat. He hurt so many people along the way (especially Brooke, who deserved so much more than he could ever offer her) and acted like a spoiled little boy 99% of the time 🤦🏻‍♀️

Smallville

Where do I begin?! This show is genius! From the cast to the soundtrack to the perfectly written story lines. It was perfection 😍

There is so much I can say about Smallville but I’ll try to keep it short. I loved all the characters - both the villains and the good guys. For some reason, in the beginning I had a crush on Lex (who, I think we can all agree, was the best Lex Luthor out there) but then it quickly switched to Clark, who started looking and acting more like a man in the seasons with Lois. I was a huge fan of Martha and Jonathan - their relationship and the way they did their best to raise Clark as a normal human being but also always helped him whenever he started discovering his abilities. Lionel was also such a crucial character in the series and I have to admit his growth really surprised me. Lana…I think I’d need to make a whole new post about her. I didn’t always agree with her decisions and the relationship with Lex was…quite disturbing to me. I really wanted her to end up with Clark in the first few seasons. But then Lois came into the picture and it all made sense. The chemistry between Lois and Clark was undeniable. She challenged him from the get go and kept doing so until the very end. I loved the fact that she was not presented as a “damsel in distress” but rather a grown up woman who knows what she wants, how to get it and who’s not afraid of being herself. The show also did a great job at introducing us to other superheroes 😍

Supernatural

This will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me. I’ve been obsessed with this show and the boys for a little over 15 years now. It’s not your typical, 00s show but it definitely left its mark.
The show follows the life of two brothers who have been raised by their father to be hunters. But not just any hunters - they fight evil in all its forms. It’s a great mixture of yes, you guessed it, supernatural, but also quite a bit of drama, thriller even some romance along the way, involving no other than angels! There’s also so much humour and jokes throughout the series - not all episodes are heavy and heartbreaking (“Changing Channels”, “The French Mistake” and “Bad Day at Black Rock” would be the ones I’d suggest to friends). You’ll find a lot of entertainment in all the different characters that are introduced in the most creative of ways (Dean Winchester in season 1, Castiel in season 4, Death in season 5 etc).

Obviously not all seasons were great (Leviathans were not a fan favourite) but 15 years on air is quite the accomplishment. If you haven’t seen it, I’d recommend you do. The characters are so well written, dialogue is never dull, jokes are hilarious and also, soundtrack is INSANE! 🤘🏻I still have a lot of these songs on my playlist, starting with the most obvious one: “Carry on my wayward son”. My love for this show and the cast is so hard to describe and put into words ❤️

To be continued…
