If you haven't even seen the first season of this series, I recommend you read my previous post Stranger Things S01: where it all began so that you have an idea of what this story is about. Unlike that first post about this series, designed for those who have not yet approached Stranger Things, this and the following posts will be aimed at those who have already seen these seasons. In short: there will be spoilers.

The reason why I have decided, now, to talk about the plot, the twists and the shortcomings that the series may have is because 1) It would be very difficult to talk about each of the following seasons (2, 3 and 4) without doing so ; and 2) Because I'm interested in knowing different points of view regarding some ideas I have about what happened with the plot. Recall that the first season ended with Eleven defeating the Demogorgon and disappearing from this world. A last scene showed us Jim Hopper, the Chief of Police, leaving some food in a kind of hiding place in the middle of the forest and the Eggo suggested that the girl was out there somewhere, something that is confirmed in the first episodes of the second season in which we also learn that Eleven has been living with Hopper, finding the home she never had and the father figure she had lost. In turn, the girl represents for Jim someone to fill the void left by the death of his daughter Sarah. That meeting seemed a bit cliché to me, cheesy perhaps, but well, it wasn't bad, it was a way of intertwining the stories of some characters.
La razón por la que he decidido, ahora sí, hablar de la trama, los giros y las falencias que pueda tener la serie es porque 1) Sería muy difícil hablar de cada una de las siguientes temporadas (2, 3 y 4) sin hacerlo; y 2) Porque me interesa conocer diferentes puntos de vista respecto a algunas ideas que tengo sobre lo sucedido con la trama. Recordemos que la primera temporada culminó con Eleven derrotando al Demogorgon y desapareciendo de este mundo. Una última escena nos mostró a Jim Hopper, el Jefe de la Policía, dejando algo de comida en una especie de escondite en el medio del bosque y los Eggo sugerían que la niña andaba por ahí en alguna parte, algo que se nos confirma en los pimeros episodios de la segunda temporada en los que nos enteramos además de que Eleven ha estado viviendo con Hopper, encontrando el hogar que nunca tuvo y la figura paterna que había perdido. A su vez, la niña representa para Jim alguien para ocupar el vacío que dejó la muerte de su hija Sarah. Esa reunión me pareció un tanto cliché, cursi tal vez, pero bueno, no estuvo mal, fue una manera de ir entrelazando las historias de algunos personajes.
Then, if the Demogorgon was defeated by Eleven, who sent it back to the Upside Down, the question arose, what new creature would they meet this time? The answer is a new and the same, all at once. Because although the appearance is different, the shadow that appears throughout the second season, the Mind Flayer as the boys call him, also comes from that other dimension.

La respuesta es una nueva y la misma, todo a la vez. Porque si bien el aspecto es diferente, la sombra que aparece durante toda la segunda temporada, el Desuellamentes como lo llaman los chicos, proviene también de esa otra dimensión.
The fact that the laboratory has decided to continue its experiments and thus, have given that shadow the opportunity to return to our dimension, is not a new argument. Nor are some of the issues that the characters face: the transition from childhood to adolescence, Eleven and the search for her identity and origin, Steve Harrington's redemption by befriending Dustin, the winter dance in high school, they are scenes and arguments that we've seen over and over again, even with greater success in other stories, because the truth be told: I thought that this season was a little below its predecessor; and one of the reasons, I think, is because when writing this second season the next two were already thought of, so they had to lay the groundwork for future plots and somehow link what had happened with what was going to happen, something that, I think, it didn't happen when the first season was written that it was thought of as a closed whole, despite its open ending.
El hecho de que el laboratorio haya decidido continuar sus experimentos y con ello, le hayan dado la oportunidad a esa sombra de volver a nuestra dimensión, no es un argumento nuevo. Como tampoco lo son algunos de los temas a los que se enfrentan los personajes: el tránsito de la niñez a la adolescencia, Eleven y la búsqueda de su identidad y origen, la redención de Steve Harrington al entablar amistad con Dustin, el baile de invierno en la secundaria, son escenas y argumentos que hemos visto una y otra vez, incluso con mayor éxito en otras historias, porque la verdad sea dicha: me pareció que esta temporada estuvo un poco por debajo de su predecesora; y una de las razones, creo yo, es porque al escribir esta segunda temporada ya estaban pensadas las siguientes dos entonces tuvieron que sentar las bases para argumentos futuros y de alguna manera enlazar lo que había sucedido con lo que iba a suceder, algo que, creo, no sucedió cuando fue escrita la primera temporada que se pensó como un todo cerrado, a pesar de su final abierto.
However, there are some positive things as well. I liked that they gave Will Byers a lot of prominence since he was the character we saw the least in the first season for obvious reasons and that connection between him and the Mind Flayer kept the intrigue going without the need for the presence of Eleven who was looking for her mother and herself. I also liked the incorporation of new characters, although not always the reasons why they were included (that of incorporating a character that is immediately seen to be the sacrificed one of the season seems predictable to me). Within these characters, I think the incorporation of Max was positive, not only because it gives the gang a feminine touch in the absence of Eleven, but also because it will represent a support for her when she has to go through adolescence and there are questions that neither the boys nor Jim will be able or willing to answer.
Sin embargo, hay algunas cosas positivas también. Me gustó que le dieran mucho protagonismo a Will Byers ya que fue el personaje del que menos vimos en la primera temporada por obvias razones y esa conexión entre él y el Desuellamentes hizo que se mantuviera la intriga sin la necesidad de la presencia de Eleven quien andaba buscando a su madre y a sí misma. También me gustó la incorporación de nuevos personajes, aunque no siempre las razones por las que fueron incluidos (eso de incorporar a un personaje que de inmediato se ve que será el sacrificado de la temporada me parece predecible). Dentro de estos personajes, creo que fue positiva la incorporación de Max, no sólo porque le da el toque femenino a la pandilla ante la ausencia de Eleven, sino porque además representará un apoyo para ella cuando tenga que atravesar la adolescencia y haya preguntas que ni los chicos ni Jim podrán o querrán responder.
Finally, that mixture of familiar places, clichés, little novel arguments and a plot that, in several aspects, repeats what happened in the first season, I found it less entertaining. In addition, again at the end it seems that the Mind Flayer has been defeated and then we will realize that it has not been so in the following season we will see him return. Again. If Season 01 felt like a 6/10 maybe a bit more (definitely not a 7/10 though) I think Season 02, in my opinion, when evaluating its overall aspects, doesn't go above 5/10, right? What do you think? Finalmente esa mezcla de lugares familiares, clichés, argumentos poco novedosos y una trama que, en varios aspectos, repite lo que sucedió en la primera temporada, me resultó menos entretenida. Además, nuevamente al final parece que el Desuellamentes ha sido derrotado y luego nos daremos cuenta de que no ha sido así con lo que en la siguiente temporada volveremos a verlo volver (valga la cacofonía). Si la Season 01 se sintió como un 6/10 quizás un poco más (aunque definitivamente no un 7/10) creo que la Season 02, en mi opinión, al evaluar sus aspectos generales, no llega a más de 5/10, ¿ustedes qué opinan? ¿las gustó más la Season 01 o la Season 02? I've been avoiding this series anytime I see it on Netflix but with this review, I'm so on my way to begin the watch with a popcorn in my hands.
Hmmm from your review, I think the series was just getting started and the creators of the series were yet to identify the flaws and lapses. There are series like that. I have lots of questions here to ask but its best I watch this series 😅. I have waited too long as I have lots people recommend it for me to watch.. Your review made me curious and I will make sure start watching this weekend.

Probablemente es la peor temporada de la serie (Aunque todas son relativamente decentes), siento que está porción de Stranger Things sufrio bastante para justificar su propia existencia (Si consideramos que antes de la season 2 se supone que la primera temporada sería algo aislado y la serie sería antológica), hay un par de ideas interesantes que se establecen aquí, pero el resto de la historia la supera.
Coincido con tu visión. Recién terminé la tercera temporada y justifica algunas cosas mostradas en la segunda, pero creo que no será sino hasta que la serie esté terminada, cuando todo sea ya definitivo, cuando podremos juzgar quizás más objetivamente cada uno de los volúmenes. Sin embargo, estoy de acuerdo con las falencias de esta segunda temporada. Saludos y muchas gracias por leerme.
