90 Day Fiancé Season 11, Episode 1 Recap & Thoughts – A Slow Start but Drama is Brewing
We’re back with another season of 90 Day Fiancé, and let me tell you—episode 1 was slow. It was mostly just an introduction to the couples and their situations, and honestly? Not much happened.
But if the sneak peek into next week is any indication, we’re about to see some real drama unfold. Let’s get into what happened in this episode.
Juan & Jessica – From Cruise Ship to Cowboy Country
Jessica met Juan when he was a bartender on a cruise ship, and after visiting him in Colombia five times, she ended up pregnant on the last trip. Now his K-1 visa is approved, and he’s packing his bags for Wyoming—which is going to be a huge culture shock.
Juan is going from partying on cruise ships to small-town America and instant fatherhood to three boys (two of whom aren’t his). If he hasn’t been around gross, wild little boys before, he’s about to get a crash course in fights, farts, and boogers. 😅
I just know this is going to be rough for him. His entire relationship with Jessica has been vacation mode, but now it’s time for real life, and I don’t think he’s ready. Let’s see how he handles it.
Matt & Amani – A Throuple in the Making
This is a first for 90 Day Fiancé. Matt and Amani are married, but they’re bringing a third person into their relationship—a woman named Any from Mexico. They met her on vacation, and now they want to bring her into their home… with their two kids.
Look, I don’t judge what people do behind closed doors, but moving your vacation fling into your marriage and family home? Yeah, that’s messy.
Also, Matt is clearly not the one who wanted this. Amani pushed for it, and he’s just going along with it to keep her happy. He even admitted that he felt like he couldn’t provide what Amani needed—which honestly? That has to feel awful.
I can’t imagine how they’re going to explain this to their kids, but I guess we’ll see how this plays out.
Sarper & Shekinah – Back for Another Round
If you’ve watched 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, you already know Sarper and Shekinah. They’re back, and Sarper is now preparing for his visa interview at the U.S. embassy in Turkey.
Shekinah wants him in the U.S. because her teenage daughter is in boarding school there, and she also has her business to run. Sarper is a personal trainer, so I guess they figure he can work anywhere, even though we all know, if he does get approved, he won't be allowed to work for the first year.
Not much happened with them this episode, but we’ll see how his interview goes.
Mahdi & Stevi – Mississippi Might Be a Nightmare
Mahdi is from Iran, and Stevi is bringing him to Mississippi—but here’s the problem:
- Her dad has NO idea this relationship even exists.
- She knows he’s going to have a problem with it.
- She hasn’t considered how hard life is going to be for Mahdi in small-town America.
I’ve been in Mississippi for over a decade, and let me tell you—it is a whole different world. It took me three years to find a job because people didn’t know me or my family. If that’s how they treat an American, imagine how they’ll treat a man from Iran.
When Stevi finally told her dad, he wasn’t happy, but he also didn’t go completely nuclear like she expected. Of course, he hit her with the typical Mississippi dad questions—Will he make you wear a hijab?—but at least she stood up for Mahdi and reassured her dad that those stereotypes don’t apply.
I still don’t think she’s ready for what’s coming, but let’s see how Mahdi adjusts.
Mark & Mina – The Prenup Problem
Mark is 58, and Mina is 35. They met at a bar in Paris, and now they have a 2-year-old daughter together.
Mark’s adult kids are NOT here for it. They went to Paris for Maria’s baptism, and Mina left them waiting for four hours. From that moment, his daughter decided she didn’t trust Mina and was convinced she was using her dad for money and a visa.
At first, I was ready to defend Mina, but the more I watch, the more I side with Mark’s daughter. Mina doesn’t seem to be making any effort to prove that she’s in this relationship for the right reasons.
Then Mark’s daughter asked him about a prenup, and he hesitated. 😳
Sir, what is there to hesitate about?!
If he doesn’t get a prenup, he’s risking everything. If Mina really loves him, she won’t have a problem signing one.
Jessica’s Friends Need to Back Off
Jessica met up with her friends, and of course, they brought up Juan’s past cheating. A woman once messaged Jessica saying she hooked up with Juan on a cruise, but Jessica chose to forgive him.
So why are her friends still talking about it? They’re acting like they’re the ones marrying Juan. I get looking out for your girl, but at some point, you have to back off.
Juan is already going to be struggling adjusting to small-town life—he doesn’t need her friends ambushing him about something Jessica already moved past. If she’s willing to give him a second chance, her friends need to respect that.
Final Thoughts – Slow Episode, But Next Week Looks Good
Not going to lie—this episode was boring. It was just introducing the couples, and not all of them yet (we still have at least one more couple to meet next episode).
But the sneak peek into next week’s episode is the only reason I’m going to keep watching. 😅
Will Juan survive Wyoming?
Will Mark wake up and get a prenup?
Will Mahdi regret moving to Mississippi?
I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
