Howdy cinephiles! I hope you all had a merry Christmas, and happy vacations for those who usually rest at this time, personally my rest is the hustle and bustle of the school season, so I spend time watching series, and as I told you in my previous publication I finally got to see The Witcher the first season and was very pleased, so I could not stop and during the past few days I dedicated myself to see the second season, so I bring you a brief review and my opinion.
Que tal cinéfilos espero que todos hayan tenido una feliz navidad, y felices vacaciones para los que en esta época suelen descansar, personalmente mi descanso es del ajetreo de la temporada escolar y por eso dedico tiempo a ver series, y como les conté en mi publicación anterior por fin pude ver The Witcher la primera temporada y quede muy complacido, por eso no pude para y durante los pasados días me dedique a ver la segunda temporada y por eso les traigo una breve reseña y mi opinión.
Context - first season
First of all, before talking about the second season it is important to have some context. You will remember that the first season took place between 3 timelines, I'm not sure of the chronology but I think that Geralt of Rivia is the one that dates back more years, we learn that he was trained and mutated to be a warlock, that he starts a friendly relationship that provides the comic touch to the series with the troubadour Jaskier, who also gets involved with the kingdom of Cintra and its Queen Calanthe saving the lives of Duny and Pavetta, Ciri's parents.
Lo primero antes de hablar sobre la segunda temporada es importante tener un poco de contexto. Recordaran que en la primera temporada transcurrió entre 3 líneas de tiempo, no estoy seguro de la cronología pero creo que la Geralt de Rivia es la que data de mas años atrás, aprendemos que fue entrenado y mutado para ser brujo, que inicia una relación amistosa que brinda el toque cómico a la serie con el trovador Jaskier, que también se ve involucrado con el reino de Cintra y su la Reina Calanthe salvando la vida de Duny y Pavetta, padres de Ciri.
The second timeline is precisely that of Cirila, who is linked to Geralt by being promised by her father Duny as a reward, in compliance with the law of surprise, something complex the first time you hear it, but it is nothing more than giving what you have not yet received to someone who has already been your benefactor. The fact is that Princess Cirila must meet Geralt because of the bond of destiny that unites them, and to achieve this she goes through many things, until they meet at the end of the season.
La segunda línea temporal es precisamente la de Cirila, que se ve ligada a Geralt al ser prometida por su padre Duny como recompensa, en complimiento de la ley de la sorpresa, algo compleja la primera vez que la escuchas, pero no es mas que dar aquello que aun no has recibido a quien ya ha sido tu benefactor. El caso es que la princesa Cirila debe encontrarse con Geralt por el lazo del destino que los une, y para lograrlo pasa por muchas cosas, hasta que al final de la temporada se encuentran.
The third timeline is that of Yennefer of Vengerberg, the deformed and abused woman who was sold for four marks, when a pig cost 10, to a powerful sorceress who trained her in a society of sorcerers known as Arethusa, to learn to master the source of magic, chaos, However, Yennefer wanted more than that, she wanted power, managing to become a beautiful woman who crosses her path with Geralt and awakens in him feelings he never thought he would have, becoming the love story of the series, something strange by the way.
La tercer línea temporal es la de Yennefer de Vengerberg, la mujer deforme y maltratada que fue vendida por cuatro marcos, cuando un cerdo costaba 10, a una poderosa hechicera que la entreno en una sociedad de brujos conocida como Aretusa, para que aprendiera a dominar la fuente de la magia, el caos, y se convirtiera en consejera de reyes, sin embargo, Yennefer deseaba más que eso, quería poder, logrando convertirse en una bella mujer que cruza su camino con Geralt y despierta en el sentimientos que nunca pensó que tendría, llegando a ser la historia de amor de la serie, algo extraña por cierto.
The second season is undoubtedly better (no spoiler)
The first thing is that the theme of timelines is over, at the end of the first season Geralt and Ciri meet and at the beginning of the second season we see them together, and after some time, we see a princess Cirila with more age, and with painted eyebrows hehe, because in the first it seemed that she had none. From the beginning, you get to understand that the focus of the whole season will be about protecting Ciri, because Geralt is already beginning to understand how special she is and at all costs he will do everything possible to prevent her from falling into the wrong hands.
Lo primero es que el tema de las líneas temporales se termina, al final de la primera temporada Geralt y Ciri se encuentran y al iniciar la segunda los vemos juntos, ya pasado algún tiempo, vemos a una princesa Cirila con mayor edad, y con las cejas pintadas jeje, porque en la primera parecía que no tenía. De entrada, te dan a entender que el enfoque de toda la temporada será sobre proteger a Ciri, porque Geralt ya empieza a comprender lo especial que es y a toda costa hará lo posible para que no caiga en las manos equivocadas.

A good part of the season takes place in this place, and many details are revealed that we would not know before unless you have read the books.
Para asegurar su protección la lleva a un lugar llamado Kaer Morhen, que con la ayuda de Google supe que significa: la fortaleza del mar antiguo. El caso es que es la fortaleza donde los brujos son creados y donde se reúnen para recuperar sus fuerzas y pasar el invierno. Buena parte de la temporada transcurre en este lugar, y se dan a conocer muchos detalles que no conoceríamos antes menos que hayas leído los libros.
As you advance in the episodes, you notice that more prominence has been given to other kingdoms of the continent, also the elves receive more participation in this season, and are more involved in the main plot. The fact that the other northern kingdoms appear in this season, is because of Ciri's fame, because many learn of the great power she possesses and some also learn of the secrets that her lineage keeps, and so begins the efforts to seize her, manipulated by a new entity that seems to pull the strings, to which Geralt must manage to discover and fight her.
A medida que avanzas en los episodios, notas que se ha dado mas protagonismo a otros reinos del continente, también los elfos reciben mayor participación en esta temporada, y se involucran más en la trama principal. El que los demás reinos del norte figuren en esta temporada, es por causa de la fama de Ciri, porque muchos se enteran del gran poder que posee y algunos se enteran también de los secretos que guarda su linaje, y así empieza los esfuerzos para apoderarse de ella, manipulados por una nueva entidad que parece mover los hilos, a lo cual Geralt debe ingeniárselas para descubrirla y combatirla.
Conclusion
Undoubtedly this season surpasses the previous one, it is loaded with action, drama and even humor, and at the end of the season it does'nt leave you unsatisfied, you want it to continue because the plot is open to develop much more. I think the success of this season lies in the fact that there was a more linear plot and not 3 timelines, which for a neophyte of the movies and series would be quite confusing. I really liked that the other characters took more strength and not everything revolved around Geralt, we can witness long scenes where he is absent, the female characters were strong and very well interpreted, Ciri stopped being the exhausting and spoiled girl, to be a young woman focused on clarifying her life and future.
With this I don't mean that the character of Geralt is not necessary, not at all, it's the central part of everything, and I think it is perfectly played by Cavill, I think he did his homework and has come to understand well the character as described in the books, I think he does a great job. I also think it managed to convey a great message, in the midst of fantasy and fiction, it teaches that monsters are not necessarily mythical and fantasy creatures, anyone with a twisted and selfish heart can commit the most vile atrocities, and there is a thin line that separates anyone from this condition and you must be very careful not to cross
Sin duda esta temporada supera a la anterior, está cargada de acción, drama y hasta humor, y al final de la temporada no te deja insatisfecho, deseas que continúe porque queda la trama abierta para desarrollar mucho más. Creo que el éxito de esta temporada radica en que se dio una trama mas lineal y no 3 líneas de tiempo, que para un neófito del cine y las series dejaría bastante confuso. Me gusto mucho que los demás personajes tomaran mas fuerza y no todo girara en torno a Geralt, podemos presenciar largas escenas donde está ausente, los personajes femeninos fueron fuertes y muy bien interpretados, Ciri dejo de ser la niña agotadora y malcriada, para ser una joven centrada en esclarecer su vida y futuro.
Con esto no quiero decir que el personaje de Geralt no sea necesario, para nada, es la parte central de todo, y creo que está perfectamente interpretado por Cavill, creo que hizo la tarea y ha llegado a comprender bien el personaje tal como se describe en los libros, creo que hace un gran trabajo. También creo que se logró transmitir un gran mensaje, en medio de la fantasía y ficción, se enseña que los monstros no son necesaria mente criaturas míticas y de fantasía, cualquiera con un corazón retorcido y egoísta puede cometer las mas viles atrocidades, y que hay una delgada línea que separa a cualquiera de esta condición y se debe estar muy atento a no cruzarla.

first season was a mix of stories layed down a bit out of sequence. I liked it though
Season two, is much of a continued story, its not jumping atleast. I am currently watching it, few more episodes left :-)

Me entere que ya estaban los episodios de la segunda temporada por tu anterior post jajaja. es que mis estrategias para mantenerme lejos de spoilers es desconectarme de toda res social de la serie que sigo. Había visto solo el trailer de la segunda temporada, lo que resta de año pienso ponerme al día con varias series y por supuesto, esta es una de ellas.
Aunque y a se que ocurre con los personajes en los libros, quiero ver si hacen alguna modificación importante en la serie.
Me pasa igual que a ti, ni estados de WhatsApp veo porque la gente no tiene ningún respeto y pública de todo tipo de spoiler, por eso trate de solo comentar un poco de mi opinión y de como inicia la serie.

It was indeed better than the first one and I loved how we could learn more about the other witchers. I also liked the design of the monsters way more in this season. Looking forward for the third season :P

Igualmente yo Lalo, ví dos capítulos por día, hice un verdadero esfuerzo por no verla toda en una sentada jeje, y claro las líneas temporales de la primera temporada fueron para ponernos en contexto. Una recomendación, al final del último capítulo ve hasta el final de los créditos y después me comentas ;-)
