HBO, the company behind this series, is known for constantly making high-quality drama productions. Their biggest series so far has been obviously Game of Thrones, but they have also produced excellent drama series such as Big Little Lies, Sharp Objects, The Undoing, and Mare of Easttown. These dramas usually have some dark mystery related to the characters and in most cases, a murder is involved somehow in the plot.
Succession is completely different though. There is no mystery related to any character, and the show itself isn't about a secretive murder, although this doesn't mean there isn't one hint hint, but rather about the family fights, and betrayals as each member of the family want only what is best for them regarding the family's company. All of the main characters can be hateful people, maybe with the exception of Greg as I will explain down below, and all they care about is advancing their personal agenda only for their personal gain.
What was the series about?
The series follows the Roy family, specifically, the father and mainly 3 of his 4 children. The father, Logan Roy, played by the actor Brian Cox, founded a successful media company decades ago, and now he is a billionaire and one of the most powerful and influential people in America. All of his family have shares in the company, and at the beginning of the series, his second-oldest son, Kendall Roy played by the actor Jeremy Strong, appears to be the ideal candidate to be the new CEO.
The reason why Logan's oldest son, Connor Roy played by the actor Alan Ruck isn't necessarily one of the main characters is simply that he isn't interested in all of the internal family conflicts related to the corporation, and he prefers to live a relaxed life with little to no responsibilities. He also has a different mother than his 3 siblings because he was born in Logan's first marriage, and this might have been a factor in his decision to get away from all of the fights.
This character, the oldest son, can be a bit eccentric and with some strange ideas like wanting to become the president of the United States, and this might be the result of his general boredom for not having an important job to occupy his time. He isn't crazy or anything like that, it is just that he has too much free time and too much money to spend thanks to his father. He collects some strange "historical" objects as well.

Su serie más importante hasta ahora ha sido, obviamente, Juego de Tronos, pero también han producido excelentes series dramáticas como Big Little Lies, Sharp Objects, The Undoing y Mare of Easttown. Estos dramas suelen tener algún misterio oscuro relacionado con los personajes y en la mayoría de los casos, un asesinato está involucrado de alguna manera en la trama.

There are 2 other siblings I haven't mentioned yet. Roman Roy is played by the actor Kieran Culkin, this character is extremely immature and is used to having a very spoiled life with little to no effort. However, that doesn't mean he is completely useless for any corporate job. He has what can be commonly called as "street smarts" and he has a good eye to quickly read people. This will eventually help him in getting an important job in the family corporation.
The remaining sibling is Shiv Roy played by Sarah Snook, the only female of the siblings. At the beginning of the series she worked as a political consultant, but eventually, she decided to start working close to his father in the corporation due to the bigger potential of huge gains. She and Roman are the closest of the siblings and this might be because they have a similar age.
Another character that I believe is worth mentioning is called Greg Hirsch or also "cousin Greg", played by Nicholas Braun. Logan Roy is his great uncle and he begins the series by desperately looking for a job, and he will eventually manage to improve his position one step at a time. He is also the only character that cannot be considered as a "snake" and is also the funniest of them all not only due to his innocence but also due to his occurrences from time to time.
Now that all the characters were briefly introduced, I can write a little bit about the story of the series up to the beginning of season 3. As mentioned before, the rivalry of Kendall with his father begins in season 1, and there will be massive twists that will result in "checkmates" going both ways. Both of these characters are ruthless when it comes to their corporate goals, and it is really a competition between experience from Logan and a thirst for change coming from Kendall.

Ambos personajes son despiadados cuando se trata de sus objetivos corporativos, y es realmente una competencia entre la experiencia de Logan y la sed de cambio de Kendall.

Season 2 ended with a huge cliffhanger after Kendall made another one of his treacherous moves during a period where he had a very resigned attitude for his personal problems. This series is constantly providing twist after twist, and they all involve betrayals between the family members, however, no one knows more about treacherous corporate moves than Logan Roy himself.
How were the performance from the cast?
The performances from the cast were amazing. Brian Cox always does a great job playing the patriarch, and the performances from the younger actors and actresses playing his children are always amazing as well. Something I don't always enjoy is the constantly immature attitude from Roman Roy, it sometimes feels a bit exaggerated and inauthentic, although other times his performance is very smooth and enjoyable.
I also like the evolution of Greg, the few funny scenes this series has usually involve Greg, and his dialogues can be quite funny sometimes. He has been learning a lot due to living surrounded by snakes, but he hasn't turned into one just yet, and he has been improving his position as everyone else tries to slaughter each other.
Final thoughts
Succession is one of the best drama series of recent times and another major success from HBO. After 3 seasons, the series is still going strong and with enough fuel for more episodes down the road. This series doesn't feel overmilked yet, and this is thanks to the amazing job from the writers that can still create entertaining plot twists after almost 30 episodes. Season 4 is already confirmed and will hopefully by the end of this year.

La segunda temporada terminó con un enorme cliffhanger después de que Kendall hiciera otra de sus jugadas a traición durante un periodo en el que tuvo una actitud muy resignada por sus problemas personales. Esta serie no deja de dar giro tras giro, y todos ellos implican traiciones entre los miembros de la familia, sin embargo, nadie sabe más de movimientos corporativos traicioneros que el propio Logan Roy.
¿Cómo fue la actuación del reparto?
Las actuaciones del reparto fueron increíbles. Brian Cox siempre hace un gran trabajo interpretando al patriarca, y las actuaciones de los actores y actrices más jóvenes que interpretan a sus hijos son siempre sorprendentes también. Algo que no siempre disfruto es la actitud constantemente inmadura de Roman Roy, a veces se siente un poco exagerado e inauténtico, aunque otras veces su actuación es muy fluida y entretenida.
También me gusta la evolución de Greg, las pocas escenas graciosas que tiene esta serie suelen involucrar a Greg, y sus diálogos pueden ser bastante divertidos a veces. Ha ido aprendiendo mucho debido a vivir rodeado de serpientes, pero aún no se ha convertido en una, y ha ido mejorando su posición mientras todos los demás intentan masacrarse entre ellos.
Pensamientos finales
Succession es una de las mejores series dramáticas de los últimos tiempos y otro gran éxito de HBO. Después de 3 temporadas, la serie sigue con fuerza y con suficiente combustible para más episodios en el futuro. Esta serie aún no se siente sobr explotada, y esto es gracias al increíble trabajo de los escritores que aún pueden crear entretenidos giros en la trama después de casi 30 episodios. La cuarta temporada ya está confirmada y es de esperar que se estrene a finales de año.
Si te gusta un drama de alta calidad con algunos toques cómicos aquí y allá, definitivamente debes ver Succession.

Buena temporada y con otro final grandioso, todo abierto para una cuarta temporada ya confirmada. El peligro de extenderla demasiado esta latente, pero confió en que HBO decida darle un final cuando sea adecuado. Creo que con 5 temporadas quedaría bien, aunque actualmente es la serie reina de HBO y entiendo que no quieran darle un final sin crear otra serie que tome su lugar. Me encanta Logan y sus malas palabras jajaja
Ya la Casa del Dragon debería estar lista para cuando salga la nueva temporada de Succession. De todas formas, HBO no es muy de sobre explotar sus producciones así que no creo que arruinen a esta serie haciendo esas cosas la verdad.

Amé esta serie por completo, cumplió un 100% mis expectativas. Cuando empecé a verla creí que podía ser una disputa familiar cualquiera, pero resulta ser tan intrigante e interesante cada capitulo que pasa, que estoy sumamente ansiosa porque saquen la 4ta temporada. Aunque Román es una persona mimada y egocéntrica tiene algo que me agrada, esa inteligencia escondida detrás de burlas y malos comentarios. Buena reseña. Saludos!
