Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well, in this post I am going to share my opinion about this series that ended recently and is one of the last ones I have seen, it is called: Cobra kai.
Cobra Kai nos cuenta la historia de Jhonny Lawrence a quien hemos visto anteriormente en la película original de Karate Kid de 1984, lo que sabemos de Jhonny es que al final de la película es derrotado por Daniel LaRusso (protagonista de la pelicula). Ahora, años después, Jhonny sigue sintiendo un gran resentimiento y odio hacía Daniel, lo ve en todos lados ya que la ciudad está repleta de anuncios de su cara por el negocio de venta de autos que le pertenece. Un día un chico de 16 años llamado Miguel Días se presenta ante Jhonny diciéndole que es su nuevo vecino, aunque su primer encuentro no es el mejor Jhonny ve de nuevo a Daniel en una tienda de convivencia en donde es atacado por unos jóvenes quienes le quitan y destrozan sus pertenencias, Jhonny no resiste al ver a los abusivos tratando mal a Miguel por lo que va a defenderlo, luego de esto Miguel le pide a Jhonny que le enseñe karate y así poderse defender por si mismo, al principio Jhonny esta en contra de esto pero con el tiempo termina aceptando regresando así al dojo que lo enseñó a pelear ¨Cobra Kai¨ pero esta vez con él como sensei.
Cobra Kai tells the story of Jhonny Lawrence who we have seen before in the original Karate Kid movie from 1984, what we know about Jhonny is that at the end of the movie he is defeated by Daniel LaRusso (main character of the movie). Now, years later, Jhonny still feels a great resentment and hatred towards Daniel, he sees him everywhere as the city is full of ads of his face for the car sales business that belongs to him. One day a 16 year old boy named Miguel Días introduces himself to Jhonny telling him that he is his new neighbor, although their first encounter is not the best, Jhonny sees Daniel again in a convenience store where he is attacked by some young men who take and destroy his belongings, Jhonny does not resist to see the bullies treating Miguel badly so he goes to defend him, after this Miguel asks Jhonny to teach him karate and thus be able to defend himself, at first Jhonny is against this but eventually ends up accepting returning to the dojo that taught him to fight ¨Cobra Kai¨ but this time with him as sensei.

Es bastante raro cuando el personaje principal es de mis favoritos pero en este caso justo así fue, Miguel es buena persona, pero aprende a defenderse de manera justa, debido a ciertas cosas que pasan se confunde en cuanto a como debería hacer las actuar y hace cosas que no debería hacer pero realmente el drama con su personaje no dura mucho, me encanta que a pesar de todo siempre fue leal a Jhonny, es consciente de que todo lo que sabe (o la mayoría) es gracias a él, además de que fue la primera persona en quien confió y después de mucho tiempo. Me dio mucho dolor cada vez que sufría algún tipo de dolor, literalmente en esas escenas y en las de su recuperación lo único que podía hacer era llorar y llorar. Otra cosa que me gustó mucho del final en cuanto a Miguel fue verlo con el gi negro de cobra kai, me pareció perfecto que su última pelea en la serie fuera con el uniforme del dojo que le enseño a pelear, fue algo muy significativo y si, lloré otra ve cuando vi eso.
It's quite rare when the main character is one of my favorites but in this case it was just like that, Miguel is a good person, but he learns to defend himself in a fair way, due to certain things that happen he gets confused about how he should act and does things he shouldn't do but really the drama with his character doesn't last long, I love that in spite of everything he was always loyal to Jhonny, he is aware that everything he knows (or most of it) is thanks to him, plus he was the first person he trusted and after a long time. It gave me a lot of pain every time he was in any kind of pain, literally in those scenes and the ones of his recovery all I could do was cry and cry. Another thing I really liked about the ending regarding Miguel was seeing him with the black gi of cobra kai, I thought it was perfect that his last fight in the series was with the uniform of the dojo that taught him how to fight, it was something very meaningful and yes, I cried again when I saw that.
Aunque si, mi favorito es Miguel, honestamente Robby no se quedaba muy atrás, a ese personaje me daban ganas de abrazarlo cada vez que lo veía, ya que comenzó solamente siendo un joven que necesitaba a sus padres con él y no los tenía, es un gran luchados y en cada temporada se prueba a si mismo de diferentes maneras, no sé por qué me dio las mismas vibes de Shawn Hunter en Boy Meets World, todo esa esencia de un chico misterioso y problemático pero que por dentro es muy bueno, sensible y muy herido. Es un chico que tiene que hacerse cargo de si mismo y por tantas veces que le han fallado ya no sabe lo que es confiar en alguien. Al final me dolió la lesión que la causaron en la pierna pero entiendo que fue para que Miguel tuviera lugar como el vencedor final en la serie, aún así estoy contenta con que le hayan dado el rol de líder en cobra Kai porque sinceramente nadie se lo merecía más que él, fue el primer alumno (masculino) de ese dojo y desde un principio nos mostraron el gran equipo que hacía luchando junto con Sam.
Although yes, my favorite is Miguel, honestly Robby was not far behind, that character made me want to hug him every time I saw him, since he started only as a young man who needed his parents with him and he didn't have them, he is a great fighter and in each season he proves himself in different ways, I don't know why he gave me the same vibes of Shawn Hunter in Boy Meets World, all that essence of a mysterious and troubled boy but inside he is very good, sensitive and very hurt. He's a boy who has to take charge of himself and because he's been failed so many times he doesn't know what it's like to trust anyone anymore. In the end I was hurt by the injury they caused to his leg but I understand it was for Miguel to have a place as the final victor in the series, even so I'm glad they gave him the role of leader in cobra Kai because honestly no one deserved it more than him, he was the first (male) student of that dojo and from the beginning they showed us what a great team he made fighting together with Sam.
El verdadero Karate Kid, para mi Jhonny es el mejor sensei de esta serie, si, algunas veces cometía ciertos errores, pero es la mejor representación de ¨Sin importar mi pasado puedo ser mejor¨ desde muy pequeño a Jhonny le han enseñado que El Camino del Puño es el único camino para defenderte y obtener respeto, pero aún así él se da cuenta de que no todo lo que en su momento le enseñaron esta bien y decide hacer lo posible por hacer las cosas mejor. Cuando tiene que admitir sus errores lo hace, cambia su vida por el cariño a estas nuevas personas que se convierten en su familia y para poder recuperar a su hijo Robby, en ocasiones deja su ego a un lado por el bien del equipo y sin dejar su esencia se demuestra a si mismo la persona que es en realidad.
The real Karate Kid, for me Jhonny is the best sensei of this series, yes, sometimes he made some mistakes, but he is the best representation of ¨No matter my past I can be better¨ since he was very young Jhonny has been taught that The Way of the Fist is the only way to defend yourself and get respect, but even so he realizes that not everything he was taught at the time is right and decides to do his best to make things better. When he has to admit his mistakes he does it, he changes his life for the love of these new people who become his family and to be able to recover his son Robby, sometimes he leaves his ego aside for the good of the team and without leaving his essence he shows himself the person he really is.
También conocido como Hawk, uno de los desarrollos de personajes más grandes, pasó de ser este chico que casi no hablaba a ser alguien muy agresivo y desesperado por la pelea, a alguien más razonable y maduro, su relación con Moon me gusta mucho, en especial cuando ella le dice que le gusta él no por su cabello o por su fuerza si no por la confianza que tiene. Pasé gran parte de la serie queriendo que ya entrara en razón e hiciera las cosas bien y que arreglara las cosas con Dimitri, pero finalmente cuando vuelve en si y entra en razón se convierte en uno de los mejores personajes de la serie. Además, pienso que tiene muy merecido el hecho que lo hayan colocado como uno de los campeones en la serie.
Also known as Hawk, one of the greatest character developments, he went from being this guy who barely spoke to being someone very aggressive and desperate for a fight, to someone more reasonable and mature, his relationship with Moon I really like, especially when she tells him she likes him not for his hair or strength but for the confidence he has. I spent much of the series wanting him to come to his senses and make things right and make things right with Dimitri, but finally when he comes to his senses he becomes one of the best characters in the series. Also, I think he has very much deserved the fact that he has been placed as one of the champions in the series.
Se tenía muy merecido que tory le dijera princesita en cada oportunidad que tenía, si lo era, sin embargo Sam tenía algo que a pesar de todo no te caía mal el personaje, lo que si no me gustó fue su constante confusión que la mantenía entre Miguel y Robby, no diría que fue un triangulo amoroso, pero me sentía mal por Miguel cada vez que las cosas con Sam no funcionaban, en especial cuando él le iba a regalar un collar de pulpo pero antes de eso Sam terminó con él, ni siquiera se me pasó por la mente que iba a regresar y volver a terminar en algún momento con Miguel, desde que empezó a salir con robby pensé que las parejas quedarían así, pero creo que me dejé llevar por las relaciones de los actores (Me encantan como se ven los actores de Sam y Robby juntos, además están comprometidos) Aún así en parte entiendo a Sam, es una adolescente que vivió por mucho tiempo en el mundo de sus padres, y siento que si madura mucho a lo largo de la serie.
She deserved it when tory called her princess every chance she got, yes she was, however Sam had something that in spite of everything you didn't dislike the character, what I didn't like was her constant confusion that kept her between Miguel and Robby, I wouldn't say it was a love triangle, but I felt bad for Miguel every time things with Sam didn't work out, especially when he was going to give her an octopus necklace but before that Sam broke up with him, it didn't even cross my mind that she was going to come back and break up again at some point with Miguel, ever since she started dating robby I thought the couples would stay that way, but I think I got carried away with the actors relationships (I love how Sam and Robby's actors look together, plus they are engaged) Still I partly understand Sam, she is a teenager who lived for a long time in her parents world, and I feel like she does mature a lot throughout the series.
De todo el elenco era a quien más esperaba ver, las pocas cosas que sabía de Cobra Kai era por esta actriz, la sigo desde Jessie y ahora me emocionó mucho verla en el personaje de Tory, es una chica muy fuerte en todos los sentidos y decidida a seguir adelante en la forma que pueda, en varias ocasiones sus emociones pueden más que ella pero conforme la serie avanza aprende a controlar lo que siente y el como reaccionar, es agradecida y se disculpa con quién debe hacerlo. Es uno de los personajes más solos de la serie, al menos Robby tiene a su mamá y a su papá (se que no es gran cosa, pero aunque no sean los mejores padres sis se preocupan por él) en cambio Tory si, tiene a su mamá, pero esta enferma y debe ocuparse de ella al igual que de su hermana, vemos un punto de quiebre en este personaje cuando pierde a su madre debido a su enfermedad y cuando su sensei la deja su cuenta. Algo que me gustó y bastante fue el hecho de que amando (Madre de Sam) se da cuenta de que algo sucede con tory e intenta ayudarla, muchas veces cuando los adolescentes (o las personas en general) hacen algo malo queremos condenarlos y ya, pero deberíamos preguntarnos ¿Por qué esa persona hizo eso? en especial cuando hablamos de jóvenes, Amanda tuvo un gran impacto en el desarrollo de tory y me parece que es importante resaltar eso. Al final de la serie me pareció justo que fuera ella quien junto con miguel representara a Cobra Kai y ganara el campeonato ya no hay mejor luchadora que ella.
Of all the cast she was the one I most expected to see, the few things I knew about Cobra Kai was because of this actress, I follow her since Jessie and now I was very excited to see her in the character of Tory, she is a very strong girl in every way and determined to move forward in any way she can, on several occasions her emotions can more than her but as the series progresses she learns to control what she feels and how to react, she is grateful and apologizes to whom she should. She is one of the loneliest characters in the series, at least Robby has his mom and dad (I know it's not much, but even if they are not the best parents sis care about him) instead Tory does, she has her mom, but she is sick and must take care of her and her sister, we see a breaking point in this character when she loses her mother due to her illness and when her sensei leaves her account. Something that I liked and quite a lot was the fact that amando (Sam's mother) realizes that something is going on with tory and tries to help her, many times when teenagers (or people in general) do something bad we want to condemn them and that's it, but we should ask ourselves why that person did that? especially when we talk about young people, Amanda had a great impact on tory's development and I think it is important to highlight that. At the end of the series I thought it was fair that she was the one who together with miguel represented Cobra Kai and won the championship, there is no better fighter than her.
Al ver comentarios de otros me di cuenta de que uno de los menos favoritos es Dimitri. Entiendo que tiene una personalidad bien particular, es alguien a quien le encanta aferrarse en temas (como las mil y un veces que repetía que iría al MIT) y a veces es un poco tonto (como cuando hizo que su novia terminara con él solo por una tontearía en España) pero, Dimitri también tiene puntos buenos, para empezar es un buen amigo, cuando a Eli se le sube a la cabeza toda la fuerza y habilidades que gana en Cobra Kai, Dimitri intenta regresarlo a la realidad y a pesar de todo lo que Eli le hace lo perdona sin mucho esfuerzo, sus métodos no siempre fueron los mejores pero como vengo diciendo desde un principio esta serie se basa en jóvenes de 16 años, en general ningún personaje es del todo consciente de lo que hace en las primeras temporadas de la serie (aunque son las mejores temporadas) El tema con su novia y de que la engaña en España no me pareció tan grave, solo bailaron, no debió hacerlo por supuesto, mucho menos después de decirle a Eli que el no podía bailar o hablar con otra chica por tener novia, fue muy como ¨¿En donde dejas tu moral?¨ pero sabemos que Dimitri es uno de esos chicos que a pesar de ser muy inteligente también es muy tonto, así honestamente no lo odio por eso, lo que si me sorprendió fue que llegara a ser parte del grupo que viajó hasta España, al ser 6 pensé que sería: Migue, Robby, Tory, Sam, Eli y Devon, o tal vez Kenny en vez de Devon (pero ya sabemos que pasó ahí).
Looking at the comments of others I realized that one of my least favorites is Dimitri. I understand that he has a very particular personality, he is someone who loves to cling to issues (like the thousand and one times he repeated that he would go to MIT) and sometimes he is a bit silly (like when he made his girlfriend break up with him just for a fool around in Spain) but, Dimitri also has good points, for starters he is a good friend, when Eli goes to his head all the strength and skills he gains in Cobra Kai, Dimitri tries to bring him back to reality and despite everything Eli does to him he forgives him without much effort, his methods were not always the best but as I have been saying from the beginning this series is based on 16 year olds, in general no character is fully aware of what he does in the first seasons of the series (although they are the best seasons) The issue with his girlfriend and that he cheats on her in Spain did not seem so serious to me, they just danced, he should not have done it of course, much less after telling Eli that he could not dance or talk to another girl for having a girlfriend, it was very much like ¨Where do you leave your morals? ¨ but we know that Dimitri is one of those guys that despite being very smart is also very dumb, so honestly I don't hate him for that, what surprised me was that he got to be part of the group that traveled to Spain, being 6 I thought it would be: Migue, Robby, Tory, Sam, Eli and Devon, or maybe Kenny instead of Devon (but we already know what happened there).
Hay demasiados personajes para hablar en esta serie, pero debo darle este espacio a Amando y Carmen, sin estas mujeres Daniel y Jhonny se habrían matado entre ellos desde el principio, son quienes los mantienen con los pies en la tierra y más allá de eso son increíbles personajes, son mujeres que también luchan a su manera en cada temporada y le aportan un gran equilibrio a toda la serie.
There are too many characters to talk about in this series, but I must give this space to Amando and Carmen, without these women Daniel and Jhonny would have killed each other from the beginning, they are the ones who keep them grounded and beyond that they are amazing characters, they are women who also fight in their own way in each season and bring a great balance to the whole series.
La verdad es que podría decir muchas cosas más sobre esta serie, pero no quiero hacer este post tan largo. Sin duda es una serie que recomiendo y la volvería a ver con gusto, tiene un poco de todo y siento que tiene el número de temporadas exacta, si leyeron hasta aquí de verdad muchas gracias, y cuéntenme ¿Les gustó la serie?
The truth is that I could say many more things about this series, but I don't want to make this post so long. Without a doubt it is a series that I recommend and I would gladly watch it again, it has a little bit of everything and I feel that it has the exact number of seasons, if you read this far thank you very much, and tell me, did you like the series?
