Oh beom-seok is one of the main characters in the series released in 2022 Weak Hero Class 1 along with Si-eun and Su-ho, I recently re-watched all 8 episodes of the series and saw several things from a different perspective, mainly Beom-seok, I have a review of the full serie here ----> Weak Hero Class 1 Review.
In the first episode we see how he is introduced to the class, it turns out that the adopted son of a politician, Beom-seok was transferred but no one knows the reasons, it turns out that a group of boys bullied him in his previous school and asked to be transferred to not see them anymore, however, he discovers that one of the boys in this new school is the best friend of who bullied him in the previous one, so this begins to treat him like a slave claiming to be his ¨friend¨.
Eventually beom-seok realizes that the best thing for him is to get closer to Si-eun and Suho, so he helps them when they need it thus starting a friendly relationship between the 3 of them, yet that friendship doesn't last long due to a key element in the series, instagram. Bum-seok gets Suho's account and starts following him hoping that he will follow him back but that doesn't happen. Now, many people think that the reality is that Beom seok felt jealous of this girl who I will call The girl with pink hair , once she appears both Suho and Sieun start to pay attention to her and include her in their friendly circle but Beom seok never loved that idea just pretending that he did.
In one of those Beom soek is checking suho's account, he sees the list of who he follows and notices that he is not there but this girl is, that makes that jealousy blossom and Beom seok thinks why her and not me, later he tells suho that he knows that he doesn't see him as a friend but as a subordinate and that he is only using him while he is useful to them, is what I see that many people think, however, I have another theory.
Yes, the scene of Beom seok checking his instagram account is key but so is another scene and that is when he together with Suho and the girl in pink go to have a coffee. Suho and this girl order what they want and go to sit down, while sieun is coming in from having dinner with his mom and beom seok despite having already placed his order stands at the cash register. Sieun looks at him and greets him, then goes to sit with the others, Suho calls him and tells him to sit with them but the scene ends with Beom Seok looking at them from afar, one assumes that he went with them at the end but we can't see it.
That scene can feel quite strong, for me it explains a little bit how Beom Seok sees the world, his friends are there and they call him to accompany them but he just stands there watching everything, as if despite being there with them he feels excluded somehow, when I saw this I just thought ¨He is not alone, but he still feels like that¨. I am not a psychologist but I have talked to some people and they have told me that situations like that only speak of our social anxiety and low self-esteem, feeling that those who are with you don't really want to be with you or that they don't care if you are there or not speaks a lot about our insecurities. Sieun and Suho, especially suho, did like beom seok as a friend but he said they saw him as a subordinate because he saw himself that way.
What makes me think that they really did appreciate him as a friend? the things they did for him. To begin with, their relationship didn't start off in the friendliest way but beom seok hurt the other two, especially sieun and yet they both forgave him. Later, when Beom Seok stopped going to school, the other two tried to call him and when they saw that he didn't answer, they decided to visit him at his house. when they realized what was really happening to him, they wanted to help him and they did, the only thing he wouldn't let them help him with was to control his limits, when they go to see his former classmates (who bullied him) they all make it clear that they can no longer bother Beom seok because he is no longer alone but he gets carried away by his rage and tries to take the whole thing to revenge, suho stops him because he knows that violence is not the solution to solve things but he gets upset and thinks that suho just wants to control him and make clear his power over him.
There is another scene later on that is also interesting, and that is that Beom seok starts to become more friendly with other kids from his school, they start hanging out, drinking and buying things. In response to that, sieun tells suho that he is worried that those boys are just using beom seok for his money and suho answers him something very interesting and that is that for him it is Beom seok who is really using those boys by buying them things and buying them drinks to feel that he has friends who need him and to feel that he belongs to some group.
Each of these 3 boys have pretty big problems, but especially beom seok I feel was affected by life in a different way by not having something that Sieun or Suho did and I mean a shelter and something to live for.
Suho's main problem is money, he had to quit the wrestling team so he could use that time to work and live as well as possible with his grandmother, with whom he seems to have a good relationship, we don't know what happened with his parents, we know that to some extent it could have affected him but he is still the most sociable person among the 3.
Sieun feels that he has never been loved by either of his parents, he doesn't care about either of them, that's why he lives his life focused only on himself, just as he didn't want to be a burden to his parents, he surely didn't want to be a burden to anyone else, yet he still has a good heart and shows loyalty to whoever he thinks deserves it.
Beom Seok on the other hand, not only received psychological abuse from his foster father and his classmates, but also physical abuse from both of them. Furthermore, they never show him as the strongest, or the smartest, they don't really show any aspect of his life that he can take refuge in. With this I don't mean to say which of the 3 suffered less or more, they all went through bad things, I simply say this because having this in mind is that I can better understand the character.
In the last chapter of the series when sieun is taking revenge on all those who hurt suho and asks beom suk why he did everything he did and he replies ¨I don't know either¨ it broke my heart. The first time I watched the series it made me so angry, I thought everyone was suffering because of him but I didn't see that what he did just that he had hit rock bottom and couldn't take it anymore, his mind was so overwhelmed and broken that he didn't know when to stop and everything ended up being a mess.
All the characters in this series leave a lot to think about and that is one of the reasons why I like it so much.

En el primer episodio vemos como se presenta ante la clase, resulta que el hijo adoptado de un político, a Beom-seok lo transfirieron pero nadie sabe las razones, resulta que un grupo de chicos lo acosaba en su anterior escuela y pidió que lo transfirieran para no verlos más, sin embargo, descubre que uno de los chicos de esta nueva escuela es el mejor amigo de quien o acosaba en la anterior, por lo que este lo comienza a tratar como un esclavo diciendo ser su ¨amigo¨.
Con el tiempo beom-seok se da cuenta que lo mejor para él es acercarse a Si-eun y Suho, por lo que los ayuda cuando ellos lo necesitan comenzando así una relación amistosa entre los 3, aún así esa amistad no dura mucho debido a un elemento clave en la serie, instagram. Bum-seok consigue la cuenta de Suho y comienza a seguirlo esperando que él lo siga de vuelta pero eso no sucede. Ahora, muchas personas piensan que la realidad es que Beom seok sintió celos de esta chica a quien llamaré La chica del cabello rosa , un vez que ella aparece tanto Suho como Sieun comienzan a prestarle atención y a incluirla en su circulo amistoso pero a Beom seok jamás le encantó esa idea sólo que fingía que si.
En una de esas Beom soek está revisando la cuenta de suho, ve la lista de a quienes sigue y nota que él no está ahí pero esta chica si, eso hace que dichos celos salgan a florecer y que Beom seok piense ¿Por qué a ella y a mi no?, más adelante él le dice a suho que sabe que no lo ve como amigo si no como un subordinado y que solo lo esta usando mientras les sea útil, es lo que veo que mucha gente piensa, sin embargo, yo tengo otra teoria.
Si, la escena de Beom seok revisando su cuenta de instagram es clave pero también lo es otra escena y es cuando él junto a Suho y la chica de rosa van a tomar un café. Suho y esta chica piden lo que quieren y se van a sentar, mientras sieun viene llegando de haber cenado con su mamá y beom seok a pesar de ya haber hecho su pedido se mantiene de pie en la caja registradora. Sieun mira hacía donde está él y lo saluda, luego va a sentarse junto con los demás, Suho lo llama y le dice que siente con ellos pero la escena termina con Beom Seok mirandolos desde lejos, uno supone que al final fue con ellos pero no podemos verlo.
Esa escena se puede sentir bastante fuerte, para mi explica un poco el como Beom Seok ve el mundo, sus amigos están ahí y lo llaman para que los acompañe pero él solo está ahí de pie observando todo, como si a pesar de estar ahí con ellos se sintiera excluido de alguna manera, al ver esto solo pensé ¨Él no esta solo, pero aún si se siente así¨. No soy psicologa pero si he hablado con algunos y estos me han dicho que situaciones como esa solo hablan de nuestra ansiedad social y baja autoestima, el sentir que quienes están contigo realmente no quieren estarlo o si que les da igual si estas o no habla mucho sobre nuestras inseguridades. Sieun y Suho, especialmente suho, si querían a beom seok como un amigos pero él decía que lo veían como un subordinado porque él se veía así mismo de tal manera.
¿Qué me hace pensar que ellos realmente si lo apreciaban como amigo? las cosas que ellos hacían por él. Para empezar su relación no comenzó de la manera más amigable si no que beom seok les hizo daño a los otros dos, sobre todo a sieun y aún así ambos lo perdonaron. Luego, cuando Beom seok deja de ir a la escuela los otros dos intentan llamarlo y al ver que no contestaba deciden ir a visitarlo a su casa, al darse cuenta de lo que realmente le sucedía quieren ayudarlo y eso hacen, en lo único que no se deja ayudar en es controlar sus limites, cuando van a ver las sus antiguos compañeros de clases (quienes lo acosaban) van todos a dejar en claro que ya no pueden molestar a Beom seok porque ya no está solo pero este se deja llevar por su rabia y trata de llevar todo el asunto hacía una venganza, suho lo impide porque sabe que la violencia no es la solución para resolver las cosas pero él se molesta y piensa que suho solo quiere controlarlo y dejar en claro su poder sobre él.
Hay otra escena más adelante que también es interesante, y es que Beom seok comienza a amigarse más con otros chicos de su escuela, empiezan a salir, a tomar y comprar cosas. Ante eso sieun le dice a suho que le preocupa que esos chicos sólo estén usando a beom seok por su dinero y suho le responde algo muy interesante y es que para él es Beom seok quien realmente esta usando a esos chicos comprándoles cosas e invitándoles tragos para sentir que tiene amigos que lo necesitan y sentir que pertenece a algún grupo.
Cada uno de estos 3 chicos tiene problemas bastante grandes, pero especialmente beom seok siento que se vio afectado por la vida de una forma distinta al no tener algo que Sieun o Suho si tenían y me refiero a un refugio y algo por qué vivir.
El problema principal de Suho es el dinero, tuvo que renunciar al equipo de lucha para poder usar ese tiempo para trabajar y vivir lo mejor posible con su abuela, con quien parece tener una buena relación, no sabemos que pasó con sus padres, se sabe que hasta cierto punto pudo afectarle pero no deja de ser la persona más sociable entre los 3.
Sieun siente que jamás ha sido querido por alguno de sus padres, para él no le importa a ninguno de los dos, es por ello que vive su vida centrado solo en si mismo, así como no quería ser un estorbo para sus padres seguramente tampoco quería serlo para alguien más, a pesar de todo sigue teniendo un buen corazón y mostrando lealtad a quien el piense que lo merezca.
Beom Seok por otro lado, no simplemente recibió abuso psicológico a gran nivel de parte de su padre adoptivo y sus compañeros de clase, si no que de parte de ambos el abuso también fue físico. Además, jamás lo muestran como el más fuerte, o el más inteligente, realmente no muestran ningún aspecto de su vida en el que pueda refugiarse. Con esto no quiero decir cual de los 3 sufrió menos o más, todos pasaron por cosas malas, simplemente lo digo porque teniendo esto en mente es que puedo entender mejor al personaje.
En el último capitulo de la serie cuando sieun esta vengándose de todos los que le hicieron daño a suho y le pregunta a beom suk por qué hizo todo lo que hizo y él le responde ¨Yo tampoco lo sé¨ se me destrozó el corazón. La primera vez que vi la serie me dio mucha rabia, pensaba que todos sufrían debido a él pero no veía que lo que hizo solo que había tocado fondo y ya no podía más, su mente estaba tan abrumada y quebrada que ya no sabía cuando parar y todo terminó siendo un desastre.
Todos los personajes de esta serie dejan mucho que pensar y esa es una de las razones por la cual me gusta tanto.
