Esta película recuerdo que la vi cuando tenía como 15 años de edad, y fue en un viaje que hicimos mi familia y yo a la casa de una tía que vive lejos, la llevo mi primo quien ya la había visto con anterioridad y nos prometía que nos iba a poner los pelos de punta; ya con esa premisa nos emocionó y mis primos y yo movimos todos los colchones de la casa hacia la habitación donde nos acomodaríamos para ver la tan esperada película, por supuesto con sus respectivas cotufas (palomitas de maíz), Rufles, CocaCola y no sé cuántas chucherías más, colocamos el cd en el DVD y le dimos play, si antes usábamos DVD no existía netflix jejejej. Creo que a partir de este momento me hice fan de este tipo de películas por supuesto pasando a ver el aro y la maldición.
The Shutter o el Fotógrafo en español, es una película Tailandesa estrenada en 2004, dirigida por Banjong Pisanthanakun y Parkpoom Wongpoom quienes ya han dirigido otros éxitos como Alone o no estamos solos en español, y protagonizada por Ananda Everingham como Tun, Natthaweeranuch Thongmee como Jane y Achita Sikamana como Natre el espectro que los persigue. En 2008 se estrenó un remake estadounidense con el mismo título pero que a mi parecer no contiene esos elementos que hicieron esta película tan magistralmente realizada demostrando que el cine de terror asiático es uno de los mejores, si da algo de miedo el americano pero prefiero la original.
I remember I saw this movie when I was about 15 years old, and it was on a trip my family and I made to the house of an aunt who lives far away, my cousin who had already seen it before took it and promised us that it was going to make our hair stand on end; With that premise we got excited and my cousins and I moved all the mattresses in the house to the room where we would settle down to watch the long awaited movie, of course with their respective popcorn, Rufles, Coca Cola and I don't know how many other goodies, we put the CD in the DVD and hit play, if we used DVD before there was no netflix hehehehehej. I think from this moment on I became a fan of this kind of movies of course going on to watch the hoop and the curse.
The Shutter or the Photographer in English, is a Thai film released in 2004, directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom who have already directed other hits like Alone or we are not alone in English, and starring Ananda Everingham as Tun, Natthaweeranuch Thongmee as Jane and Achita Sikamana as Natre the specter that haunts them. In 2008 an American remake was released with the same title but in my opinion it does not contain those elements that made this film so masterfully made demonstrating that Asian horror cinema is one of the best, if it is a little scary the American one but I prefer the original.
La película comienza en una reunión normal entre amigos, con un juego de cámaras rodeándolos, dándonos un panorama amplio de la conversación que están teniendo centrando la atención en ellos. La conversación en si no tiene cosas importantes solo recordando el pasado y las anécdotas que han vivido, lo que ya nos va revelando que se conocen desde hace mucho tiempo.
Más tarde luego de terminada la reunión nuestro protagonista Tun y su novia Jane van manejando por la carretera riendo y escuchando música, hasta que de la nada aparece una mujer y estos la atropellan provocando que choquen contra un letrero, pero resultan ilesos de este accidente, al ver hacia atrás Jane quiere bajarse a revisar a la chica pero Tun se lo impide, lo que demuestra la naturaleza del protagonista de no hacerse responsable de sus actos, al decidir arrancar y dejar tirada a la mujer. A partir de este momento cosas extrañas comenzaran a sucederle, cosas extrañas y paranormales.
The film begins in a normal meeting between friends, with a set of cameras surrounding them, giving us a broad overview of the conversation they are having, focusing the attention on them. The conversation itself has no important things just remembering the past and the anecdotes they have lived, which already reveals that they have known each other for a long time.
Later, after the meeting our protagonist Tun and his girlfriend Jane are driving down the road laughing and listening to music, until out of nowhere a woman appears and they run over her causing them to hit a sign, but they are unharmed in this accident, when they look back Jane wants to get off to check the girl but Tun prevents her, which shows the nature of the protagonist of not taking responsibility for their actions, deciding to start and leave the woman lying. From this moment on, strange things begin to happen to him, strange and paranormal things.
Tun es fotógrafo profesional, cuyo trabajo es tomar fotos a recién graduados, en uno de sus trabajos, enfoca su cámara para una fotografía grupal y va buscando a su cliente, pero al ir moviendo la cámara, nota a través del lente que algo extraño estaba allí entre los estudiantes, y cuando vuelve a mirar ya ha desaparecido, este es el primer vistazo frontal que tenemos del espíritu, y nos toma desprevenidos ya que es algo temprano para lo usual en una película de este género.
Cuando Tun va a revelar las fotografías, nota algo extraño en ellas ya que la mayoría aparecen mal reveladas con manchas blancas, por otro lado jane comienza a ser atormentada por el espíritu. Esta creyendo que podría ser Tun dentro del cuarto de revelado entra y algo espeluznante va emergiendo del lavamanos que se desborda de agua, Jane intenta escapar pero el espíritu se lo impide trabando la puerta, el color rojo de la habitación más los sonidos de la banda sonora, inundan nuestros sentidos de desesperación, como si fuésemos nosotros quienes estuviéramos atrapados, Jane despierta todo había sido un sueño, pero un sueño que se sintió muy real, puedo identificarme con ese sentimiento, como cuando despiertas de una pesadilla y tu corazón palpita tan rápido que se quiere salir del pecho.
Tun is a professional photographer, whose job is to take pictures of recent graduates, in one of his jobs, he focuses his camera for a group photograph and goes looking for his client, but as he moves the camera, he notices through the lens that something strange was there among the students, and when he looks again it has already disappeared, this is the first frontal glimpse we have of the spirit, and it takes us off guard since it is something early for the usual in a film of this genre.
When Tun goes to develop the photographs, he notices something strange about them as most of them appear badly developed with white spots, on the other hand Jane begins to be tormented by the spirit. Jane tries to escape but the spirit prevents her from doing so by locking the door, the red color of the room plus the sounds of the soundtrack flood our senses with despair, Jane wakes up everything had been a dream, but a dream that felt very real, I can identify with that feeling, like when you wake up from a nightmare and your heart beats so fast that it wants to come out of your chest.
Jean se empieza a plantear si esa mujer que atropellaron seria el espíritu que los está acosando, y deciden pasar por la misma calle donde atropellaron a esa misteriosa mujer, pero cuando preguntan a un hombre que se encontraba reparando el anuncio este le dice no había habido heridos en ese lugar solo se había roto el anuncio.
Después de esto vino uno de los momentos que más me causo inquietud o hasta terror ya que combina dos elementos la anticipación y la sorpresa, y ocurre cuando Tun se encuentra en su cuarto de revelado, tratando de descubrir que sería la figura de una mujer que aparecía en la fotografía que había tomado antes a los estudiantes, si es su primera aparición, no sé si será la música o el mismo rojo de la habitación pero cuando se dio la escena todos saltamos y lanzamos las cotufas por todos lados, la extraña figura se encontraba de perfil pero al inspeccionar Tun más de cerca la foto esta se da vuelta y lo ve de frente. Hoy en día aplaudo esa escena, supieron jugar con nuestra mente, ya que todos esperábamos que sucediera algo pero al mismo tiempo nos toma por sorpresa.
A Tun le comienza a doler el cuello, cosa que será muy importante en el futuro aunque a este punto resulta insignificante. Un fotógrafo que se dedica a realizar montajes con fotografías de fantasmas le dice a Tun y a Jane que la única manera de ver a los espíritus mediante fotografías es con fotografías con cámara polaroid, de esas instantáneas ya que no hay manera de alterarlas digitalmente.
Jean begins to wonder if the woman they ran over is the spirit that is harassing them, and they decide to go through the same street where they ran over the mysterious woman, but when they ask a man who was repairing the advertisement, he tells them that no one had been injured in that place, only the advertisement had been broken.
After this came one of the moments that caused me most concern or even terror because it combines two elements, anticipation and surprise, and occurs when Tun is in his developing room, trying to figure out what would be the figure of a woman who appeared in the photograph he had taken before the students, I don't know if it's the music or the red of the room but when the scene happened we all jumped and threw our popcorn all over the place, the strange figure was in profile but when Tun inspects the photo more closely she turns around and sees him from the front. Today I applaud that scene, they knew how to play with our minds, as we all expected something to happen but at the same time it takes us by surprise.
Tun's neck starts to hurt, which will be very important in the future, although at this point it is insignificant. A photographer who is dedicated to making montages with photographs of ghosts tells Tun and Jane that the only way to see the spirits through photographs is with Polaroid camera photographs, those snapshots since there is no way to alter them digitally.
Otra escena que más movió mis sentidos en el aspecto auditivo y visual fue en la ocasión en que Tun se encontraba en una sesión de fotografías y al culminar esta, encontrándose solo la luz comienza a fallar hasta que se apaga completamente, aunado a la música nos sumerge en ese sentido desesperante de que algo se acerca, la luz comienza a encenderse y apagarse revelando la figura de una mujer que se acerca en cada parpadeo de la luz.
Luego en un giro inesperado sus amigos comienzan a morir uno a uno en extrañas circunstancias, hasta que la verdad de porque este fantasma los acosa es revelada.
Lo que más me gusto de la película fue el maquillaje de Natre, creo que fue sumamente artístico lo que lograron, en segundo lugar la música, al incluir todos los aspectos compositivos para helarnos de miedo en cada aparición del espectro, por otro lado el color que usaron en el largometraje compagina mucho con cada escena, especialmente en el cuarto de revelado con ese color rojo intenso que atrapa nuestra atención. Y por último el recurso de la anticipación y la sorpresa, muy bien utilizado para jugar con nuestras emociones y nuestros sentidos. Si no la han visto y se quieren asustar un rato véanla se las recomiendo.
Another scene that moved my senses in the auditory and visual aspect was the time when Tun was in a photo shoot and at the end of it, finding himself alone, the light begins to fail until it turns off completely, coupled with the music immerses us in that desperate sense that something is coming, the light begins to turn on and off revealing the figure of a woman who approaches in each flicker of light.
Then in an unexpected twist her friends begin to die one by one in strange circumstances, until the truth of why this ghost haunts them is revealed.
What I liked most about the film was the makeup of Natre, I think it was extremely artistic what they achieved, secondly the music, to include all the compositional aspects to freeze us with fear in each appearance of the spectrum, on the other hand the color they used in the feature film is very compatible with each scene, especially in the developing room with that intense red color that catches our attention. And finally the resource of anticipation and surprise, very well used to play with our emotions and our senses. If you haven't seen it and want to be scared for a while, I recommend it.
