I love this movie, it is surprising to know that Star Wars IV is the first movie to be released in cinemas.
Sometime between the release of the film at theatres and the VHS release they added the "episode IV" part. The studio realized it was going to be a big deal, but I doubt they realized it was going to be as big as it is today.
I totally agree with you.
