Corina is a beautiful lady with a kind heart who is always asked to be the bridesmaid for everyone's wedding, and even though she doesn't always feel comfortable about it, she never says No.

Corina James, a young, smart, attractive, well-educated beautiful 29-year-old black woman whose friends are all in a relationship, getting engaged and getting married finds it difficult to go into a relationship because of her disappointing relationship of the past and a grudge she holds against her father for cheating on her mom. She carries her baggage into her future and refuses to let go saying that the "love thing" is not for her.

Her friends seeing her fear for relationships decide to make her go out with men, they instruct her on how to talk to a man, how to text him, how to flirt but at the end of the day, she isn't interested because of his creepy nature. The only man in her life is her fish.

At one of the weddings she was a bridesmaid, she meets Mark (Jordan Calloway), a solid guy she and her friends already know from their college years, contact was exchanged and Mark decides to ask her out for her date but she turns him down.

Her pastor/therapist (Pastor Althea Brody) advises her to let go of her past hurt, and the pain of her father's infidelity so she could move on and after a while with pressure from her friends who sees Mark as the best option and advice from her Pastor and Therapist, she chooses to take a chance with Mark.

One day, after a while in their relationship with everything going smoothly, Mark decides to declare his love to Corina but unfortunately, she is unable to take it, saying she is not good for him, she is an indecisive mess, she has got a lot of baggage and that one day, Mark was going to cheat on her and leave her for someone else. She felt taking such a step in their relationship isn't the right choice.

She turns him away and Mark leaves sad, her close friends try to advise her to go back but she wouldn't listen, and eventually, her fish dies making her more lonely and sad than how she was. Things aren't going on well between her and her father and she finally let him know she knew about his infidelity whilst her mom was alive and accused him of being the reason her mother died so fast.

Her best friends, Tamara and Bradley announce they are expecting their first child, and this made Corina realize she is all alone. She eventually changes her mind and decided to beg Mark after her friend gave birth but Mark wasn't ready to listen to her as he decided to take a job far away from their current city.

She was chosen to become a bridesmaid and on her return from the wedding, she meets Mark waiting for her at her doorstep, she was confused to see him as she thought he has traveled. They decide to give their love a chance. Two years later, Corina walks down the aisle with her father who she later reconciled with after going through a lot of therapy.

About The Movie

Always a Bridesmaid is a 2019 American romantic comedy film directed by Trey Haley and released on 25 August 2019, written by Yvette Nicole Brown and the main cast are Javicia Leslie, Jordan Calloway, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Richard Lawson. It is a 97 minutes movie and a very interesting and educative movie.

Although this movie demonstrates a woman who goes through pains because of her past failed relationship and her father's infidelity, it also did not fail to show us what deep-rooted friendships look like, the bonds and care between her friends and that love can conquer our fears. The joys of solid, loving marriages like that of her friends who got married became expectant couples.

We all can tell the experiences we've gone through in relationships, friendships, and families but this movie is making us understand that those things happen and we can not stop them but we can choose not to let those things take our happiness, we can choose our failed relationships, friendships or family or risk moving beyond those negative vibes. The movie teaches us that our life is in our hands and we decide to either make the right choice and live happily regardless of the challenges or make the wrong choice and remain lonely, and sad for the rest of our lives.

We should never let our past affect our future because our past is our past and can never become our future. We can only make things right by writing our future and that's by letting go of our past and making the right choice but can never re-write our past because they are our past.

Experience is part of life, it isn't supposed to weigh us down but they are supposed to help us in making the right decision. The actors were good and they played their part professionally. It wasn't just educative but the comedy part was also played properly.

Awesome Adventure. You have taken me through the movie. However, the lesson there for me is; while carrying the burden of the past, you might actually be left alone in your past.

@evegrace thanks for the review

We all learn different lessons from one story and I am glad you learned something different from what I learned while watching and if you finally watch the movie, I guess you will learn more.

Thank you for sharing your apt comment, I am grateful for that.
