A crime drama directed by Eric Mandelbaum.
Barbara Hoffman, a biochemistry student and prostitute, calls her fiance, Jerry Davies, to help her to hide Harry Berge’s corpse, telling him that he simply appeared dead in the bathroom. After helping her, Jerry tells the police about the body, and he and Barbara become suspects.
Winter of Frozen Dreams is based on the true story of Barbara Hoffman, accused of murder in the first televised murder trial in history. It is the story of a brilliant student who has a double life as a prostitute.
The cast includes Thora Birch, Dan Moran, Brendan Sexton III, Dean Winters, Keith Carradine and Colleen Camp. They’re not bad, but there aren’t any particularly good performances either.
The film has no conflict, it is narratively clumsy, almost as if Michael Caughill, Michael Graf, John Besmer and Eric Mandelbaum, the screenwriters, decided to tell the story in the most boring and uninteresting way possible.
The film had a budget of one million dollars and only grossed eight thousand dollars at the box office, which is not surprising considering the poor entertainment of the film.
Winter of Frozen Dreams is an uninteresting film, which I would not recommend to anyone. I think the documentary format would have been better for this story.
If you saw the movie, let me know your opinion and if you haven’t seen it yet, let me know if you are interested in seeing it or if you prefer to see something different.
