A Complete Unknown is a 2024 film of the biographical film genre, which means that its story is based on real events. It was directed by James Mangold, while the screenplay was written by Jay Cocks and Mangold himself, based on the book by Elijah Wald. A film that I saw after the Oscars were given, with a total of eight nominations and zero statuettes, which was a surprise for me since I thought the film was great, even in my opinion better than Anora who ended up taking the Oscar for Best Picture.

From the beginning the film interested me, it is a genre that always catches my attention, is that in terms of history, the film met all my expectations, even being one of the best productions I've seen so far this year.

Desde un principio la película me interesó, es un género que siempre me llama la atención, es que en cuento a la historia, el filme cumplió con todas mis expectativas, incluso siendo una de las mejores producciones que he visto en lo que va de año.

I found the dialogues in general to be wonderful, so it is also one of the many positive aspects that we can find in this production. Although it was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, it didn't win the award either, this one going to The Conclave.
Dylan era un joven que en el amor era, como intermitente, un mujeriego, algo que en lo personal me disgustaba un poco de su personaje. Por lo demás, en cuanto a la música se refiere, sus composiciones donde de todo sacaba una nueva música, incluso de los malos momentos, siendo unos de los mejores intérpretes que he visto, el sentido que le da a la música con sus vivencias. I would be lying to you if I told you that the performances were not the best of the film A Complete Stranger. Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan was one of the best jobs I've seen this actor do in a film, he even earned a nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role and I personally liked that he won because you can see all the work he put into his character, since Bob Dylan was a very particular person in the way he was and Chalamet played him impressively well. We also have Edward Norton's performance as Pete Seeger who was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, being another folk singer, with a really beautiful voice, although the level of interpretation and music was not at the level of Dylan, of course that does not mean that it was not transcendent within the genre because it was very dear to the fans at the time.

I loved the photography, the film has striking locations, where they show us New York City in the 60's, very different from what we see today. I also have to highlight the costumes, I searched a little about the costumes of the epic, the appearances of the people and all very well captured, it shows that the production did a great job of research for this adaptation.
El cast del filme fue realmente bueno, ya que tenemos otros personajes que tal vez son de menor relevancia dentro de la historia, tienen menos minutos en pantalla en comparación a los anteriores mencionados en la reseña, pero no dejan de hacer un trabajo impecable. También hay que destacar la labor del director en como llevo esta película y lo que quería transmitir al público, un trabajo muy destacado. La fotografía me encantó, la película cuenta con lugares llamativos, donde nos muestran a la ciudad de Nueva York en los años 60, muy distinto a lo que vemos actualmente. También hay que destacar los vestuarios, busqué un poco sobre las vestimentas de la épica, las apariencias de las personas y todo muy bien plasmado, se nota que la producción hicieron un gran trabajo de investigación para esta adaptación.
Regarding the soundtrack, it is one of the best of the film, we have great music and interpretations. Dylan was a person with many internal problems, as mentioned before, and this is perfectly reflected in the music he wrote and sang to the public, this being one of the reasons for his great success and his connection with the fans of the Folk genre, a genre that he did not know before and that in many things at the time the film was based on, there was a struggle for social justice, being one of the themes that the film touches on.
En lo que respecta a la banda sonora, es de lo mejor del filme, tenemos grandes músicas e interpretaciones. Dylan era una persona con muchos problemas internos, tal cual como se les había mencionado anteriormente, y este lo refleja perfectamente con la música que escribía y le cantaba al público, siendo esto una de las razones de su gran éxito y su conexión con los fanáticos del género de Folk, un género que no conocía anteriormente y que en muchas cosas en la época que estaba basada el filme había una lucha por la justicia social, siendo uno de los temas que toca la película.

A Complete Unknown is a great film that has a great story that is worth watching from beginning to end, a story that can be a little heavy in terms of the topics that are touched, but it also has its nice touches. This production has a good plot, great performances, photography, costumes, soundtrack and more, which is why I recommend it. A film that met my expectations, all quite well and as I said it is one of the best films I saw this year, even from my point of view better than Anora and The Conclave. Obviously if you haven't seen it, I recommend you do. If I had to give it a score it would be a 10/10, despite some details, but these did not ruin my experience and I was left more with the connection I had with the film than anything else.
Un Completo Desconocido es un gran filme que tiene una gran historia que vale la pena ver de principio a fin, una historia que puede ser un poco pesada en cuanto a los temas que se tocan, pero también tiene sus toques agradables. Esta producción posee una buena trama, grandes actuaciones, fotografía, vestuario, banda sonora y más, razón por la cual la recomiendo. Un filme que cumplió con mis expectativas, todo bastante bien y como les dije es una de las mejores películas que vi en el año, incluso desde mi punto de vista mejores que Anora y El Cónclave. Obviamente que si no la has visto, te recomiendo que lo hagas. Si tendría que darle un puntaje sería un 10/10, a pesar de algunos detalles, pero que estos no arruinaron mi experiencia y me quedó más con la conexión que tuve con el filme que con otra cosa.
