See You on Venus (2023) [ENG-ESP]

Friends of the community, I hope you are all well, having a great weekend. Today I bring you a review of a movie I saw recently called Te esperaré en Venus. It came out last year and was directed by the Spanish filmmaker, Joaquín Llamas. The script was written by Victoria Vinuesa. A film that I had seen several times in some platforms, but I had not dared to watch it even though I like the romantic drama genre. For some reason or another I always ran away from it, it didn't call my attention, but finally I decided to see it and I bring you my impressions.

Amigos de la comunidad, espero que se encuentren todos bien, pasando un excelente fin de semana. El día de hoy les traigo la reseña sobre una película que vi recientemente llamada Te esperaré en Venus. La misma salió el año pasado, fue dirigida por el cineasta español, Joaquín Llamas. El guion estuvo a cargo de Victoria Vinuesa. Un filme que había visto varias veces en algunas plataformas, pero no me había animado a verla a pesar de que me gusta el género de drama romántico. Por alguna u otra razón siempre le huía, no llamaba mi atención, pero finalmente la decidí ver y les traigo mis impresiones.

What is the movie about? As I told you before, this is a drama and romance film. Its story tells us about Mia (Virginia Gardner) who is 18 years old and suffers from a heart disease that has her on the verge of death, reason why she decides to look for her biological mother, who abandoned her. The girl wants to go to Spain in search of her mother, so she decides to invite a boy named Kyle (Alex Aiono), a boy who wants to end his life, after feeling guilty for being the cause of a traffic accident where a boy she knew lost his life.

¿De qué trata la película? Como les dije anteriormente, esta es del género de drama y romance. Su historia nos habla de Mia (Virginia Gardner) quien tiene 18 años y padece una enfermedad en el corazón que la tiene al borde de la muerte, razón por la cual decide buscar a su madre biológica, quien la abandonó. La chica quiere ir a España en la búsqueda de su madre, por lo cual toma la decisión de invitar a un chico llamado Kyle (Alex Aiono), un chico que quiere acabar con su vida, tras sentirse culpable por ser el causante de un accidente de tránsito donde perdió la vida un chico que conocía.

Mia is a pretty cheerful girl, really yes, we don't see what the plot is about before we see the movie, nor do we learn that she suffers from a serious illness. She's a pretty funny girl and sure of herself and what she wants from life, which is to meet her mother before she dies. On the other hand, we have Kyle, a boy who is quite sad and insecure, how not to be so, if he went through a traumatic moment that has marked him for life, a situation that he can not forget to move forward. The plot obviously tells us how these two characters come to love each other, how they gradually fall in love, but also apart from the drama and romance, there are also certain mysteries that are known as the story unfolds.

Mía es una chica bastante alegre, realmente sí, no vemos que trata la trama antes de ver la película, ni nos enteramos de que padece de una enfermedad grave. Es una chica bastante divertida y segura de sí misma y de lo que quiere de la vida, que es conocer a su madre antes de morir. Por otro lado, tenemos a Kyle, un chico que se nota bastante triste e inseguro, como no ser así, si paso por un momento traumático que lo ha marcado de por vida, una situación que no puede olvidar para continuar adelante. La trama obviamente nos cuenta de como estos dos personajes se llegan a querer, como poco a poco se van enamorando, pero también aparte del drama y romance, también hay ciertos misterios que se van sabiendo a medida que se desarrolla la historia.

This is a pretty nice story, which although it is usually very repetitive to what we usually see in films of this type, but what I value most about it is the message it gives us, we must always learn to heal our hearts, to overcome things and move on. We can all make mistakes, so the important thing is to forgive ourselves. It is also relevant to count on the support of people, either our family or friends, but we can also find the peace of our inner self in love, even in the least expected person and that in many cases may have different personalities.

Esta es una historia bastante bonita, que si bien suele ser muy repetitiva a lo que solemos ver en los filmes de este tipo, pero lo que más valoro de ella es el mensaje que nos da, siempre debemos aprender a sanar nuestros corazones, a superar las cosas y continuar adelante. Todo podemos cometer errores, así que lo importante es perdonarnos a nosotros mismos. También es importante contar con en el apoyo de personas, ya sea de nuestros familiares o amigos, pero también podemos encontrar la paz de nuestro interior en el amor, incluso en la persona menos esperada y que en muchos casos pueden tener distintas personalidades.

The cast of the film I feel was very well selected, where as I said before Virginia Gardner was the one who gave life to Mia, while Kyle was played by Alex Aiono. Both did well in my opinion, but more so was Virginia, an actress who played a very charismatic young woman despite everything she had been through, being someone who abandoned her own mother and who was also seriously ill. Gardner knew how to reveal what she wanted to show about the character, transmitting her good vibes through the screen and awakening my interest. On the other hand, Alex showed an insecure Kyle, but at times he seemed a bit overacted, at least in my personal opinion.

El reparto del filme siento que estuvo muy bien seleccionado, donde como les dije anteriormente Virginia Gardner fue quien le dio vida a Mia, mientras que Kyle fue interpretado por Alex Aiono. Ambos lo hicieron desde mi opinión bien, pero más resultó Virginia, una actriz quien interpretó a una joven bastante carismática a pesar de todo lo que había pasado, ser alguien que abandonó su propia madre y que además estaba gravemente enferma. Gardner supo revelar lo que se deseaba mostrar del personaje, traspasando su buena vibra a través de la pantalla y despertando mi interés. Por otro lado, Alex mostró a un Kyle inseguro, pero por momentos me pareció algo sobreactuado, al menos en mi opinión personal.

The photography was in charge of Oscar Montesinos, doing a great job. What I liked most about Te esperaré en Venus was the different places that Mia and Kyle visited on their trip to Spain, with beautiful places that were a pleasure to see. Many shots were well done, capturing my attention much more and that's where we see the director's hand. On the other hand, we have the soundtrack that was in the hands of George Kallis, being in my opinion one of the most negative points of the film, and I think this is the first time I mention something like this in some of my reviews. Although there are moments where we find emotional background music, of sadness that give meaning to the scenes and that can make the story really reach us, but even so I feel it quite genre many times.

La fotografía estuvo a cargo de Óscar Montesinos, haciendo un gran trabajo. Lo que más me gustó de Te esperaré en Venus fue los diversos lugares que visito Mia y Kyle en su viaje a España, con lugares bastante hermosos y que daba gusto apreciar. Muchas tomas fueron bien realizadas, captando mucho más mi atención y allí es donde vemos la mano del director. Por otro lado, tenemos la banda sonora que estuvo en manos de George Kallis, siendo desde mi opinión uno de los puntos más negativos del filme, y creo que es la primera vez que menciono algo así en algunas de mis reseñas. Aunque sí que hay momentos donde encontramos músicas de fondos emotivas, de tristezas que le dan sentido a las escenas y que pueden a hacer que la historia nos llegue realmente, pero aun así lo siento bastante género muchas veces.

I'll wait for you in Venus is a film that is by no means perfect, it has its details, but what stands out the most is the story and the message that the story can give us. It is always life, people come to change us for the better, they help us in the most complicated moments and this is what we can value most in a person. Not only in love, but we can also rely on family and friends, those who are in the most complicated moments of our lives. Do I recommend the movie? If you are a lover of the romantic drama genre, obviously it is a resounding, yes. But I really don't know if it is for everyone, it has a nice story, but it is very repetitive to what we can see in movies of this type, even so I think you can enjoy the story. In score I would give it a 7/10.

Te esperaré en Venus es una película que para nada es perfecta, tiene sus detalles, pero lo que más destaco es la historia y el mensaje que nos puede dar la historia. Siempre es la vida, llegan persona que nos cambian para bien, nos ayudan en los momentos más complicados y esto es lo que más podemos valorar de una persona. No solo en el amor, sino que también nos podemos apoyar en la familia y los amigos, en aquellos que están en los momentos más complicados de nuestras vidas. ¿Recomiendo la película? Si eres amante del género del drama romántico, obviamente es un rotundo, sí. Pero realmente no sé si es para todo el mundo, tiene una historia agradable, pero es muy repetitiva a lo que podemos ver en películas de este tipo, aun así pienso que se puede disfrutar de la historia. En puntuación le pondría un 7/10.
