I had not gone to the movies since I went to see Thor Ragnarok (which I consider a lousy movie and I lost my money to go see it), that was in 2017 and since then I had not gone to the movies because there was no movie that called my attention enough to go to the movies, however, this year was released one of the most important films of the year (or at least I consider it so) the film that closes the saga of John Wick and it is of course its fourth installment. Since his first film John Wick has left a legacy and an example of how action movies should be nowadays, with action from beginning to end, but with excellent choreography, this in essence is John Wick, that's why I was so eager to see, which was announced to be the last film in this saga (all this without counting the spin-offs that have already been announced). Although this fourth movie makes me doubt a little bit if it is the end of the John Wick story, due to a certain scene that happens at the end of the movie, even so, if this is the closure of this story I am quite satisfied with the result.
As we had already seen in previous films, John Wick this time is going to face directly to the high commanders who command this universe of assassins, but it will not be an easy task, since the power of this organization exceeds the limits of John Wick himself, that is why we will again see our protagonist go through a series of obstacles even more difficult than those seen in previous installments. But still without losing the characteristic personality, tonality and essence that represents this saga so much. From visually spectacular choreography, on-screen colors, scenery and music, which plays a spectacular role in all John Wick movies, this movie is something highly recommended to see, especially if you are a fan of the action genre.
While I think there are some parts where I personally feel the scenes dragged on a bit, especially near the end of the film, John Wick 4 is a very solid action product, with a story that isn't anything spectacular or overly deep, but is just enough to give us (the audience) a worthy action product to watch and one that will live on in the history of action films.
Going into spoilers and things within the plot of the film, there are two things that caught my attention, one of them is a set of sequence scenes filmed from above, that is, what in video games is often called "eagle view". This type of camera angles can be seen in video games like the first Grand Theft Auto or mainly and from which it takes inspiration, in Hotline Miami, which is a game of pure and frenetic action which I consider and I'm pretty sure that the screenwriters and director of John Wick 4 were inspired at the time of making and filming this scene.
Another aspect that caught my attention in this movie is one of the final scenes and after a duel with guns, in which John Wick wins in his own way, our beloved protagonist is mortally wounded and in that scene, where I already assumed that John would die, reminded me a lot of the final scene of Cowboy Bebop, since in both works, the two protagonists go down a staircase totally dying and wounded by bullets until they fall and later die. I'm not sure if the director of this film was inspired by that scene in Cowboy Bebop, but it was a scene that immediately reminded me of Spike's death in the anime. However, after seeing that scene and accepting that John Wick had died, comes another scene where we are shown John's grave next to his wife's grave, it's a pretty sad moment, but when one of John Wick's friends asks Wiston "Where did he go, to hell or heaven?", in that scene there is a little accomplice smile from one of the characters and also, added to the above, John Wick's dog is alerted to something he saw, but it is never shown what that something is and the movie ends there.
I would like John Wick to be dead, since he was a character who had a life plagued with deaths in every way and finally he could have his freedom, even if it was at the cost of his death. What I do hope and would like to know is how his origin was and how his fame of being the best assassin of that universe grew. This movie has a post-credits scene that opens the door to another movie, series or some other product within that universe, of which at least two more are already confirmed. But anyway, watch the whole John Wick saga, even if you've seen it before, watch it again, because it's worth it.
No había ido a cine desde que fui a ver Thor Ragnarok (la cual considero una pésima película y que perdí mi dinero en ir a verla), eso fue en el año 2017 y desde ese entonces no había ido al cine porque no había ninguna película que me llamara tanto la atención como para ir al cine, sin embargo, este año se estrenaba una de las películas más importantes del año (o al menos así yo lo considero) la película que cierra la saga de Jonh Wick y es por su puesto su cuarta entrega. Desde su primera película Jonh Wick ha dejado un legado y un ejemplo de cómo deben ser las películas de acción hoy día, con acción de principio a fin, pero con excelentes coreografías, esto en esencia es John Wick, es por eso que tenía demasiadas ganas de ver, la que anunciaban que sería la última película de esta saga (todo esto sin contar los spin-off que ya han anunciado). Esta cuarta película si bien me hace dudar un poco sobre si es el final de la historia de John Wick, debido a cierta escena que ocurre al final de la película, aun asi, si este es el cierre de esta historia estoy bastante satisfecho con el resultado.
Como ya habíamos visto en películas anteriores, John Wick esta vez se va a enfrentar directamente ante los altos mandos que comandan este universo de asesinos, pero no será una tarea fácil, ya que el poder que tiene esta organización sobrepasa los límites del propio John Wick, es por eso que nuevamente veremos a nuestro protagonista atravesar una serie de obstáculos aún más difíciles que los vistos en las anteriores entregas. Pero aun así sin perder la personalidad característica, tonalidad y esencia que tanto representa a esta saga. Desde coreografías visualmente espectaculares, colores en pantalla, escenografía y la música, la cual juega con papel espectacular en todas las películas de John Wick, esta película es algo muy recomendado para ver, especialmente si eres fanático del genero de acción.
Si bien creo que hay algunas partes en las que personalmente considero que las escenas se alargaron un poco, especialmente llegando casi al final de la película, John Wick 4 es un producto de acción muy sólido, con una historia que no es algo espectacular ni demasiado profunda, pero es lo justo y necesario para darnos a nosotros (el público) un producto de acción digno para ver y el cual perdurada en la historia de las películas del genero de acción.
Ya entrando un poco en los spoilers y de cosas dentro del argumento de la película, hay dos cosas que me llamaron mucho la atención, una de ellas son un conjunto de escenas en secuencia filmadas desde arriba, es decir, a lo que en los videojuegos se les llama muchas veces como “vista águila”. Este tipo de ángulos de cámaras se puede ver en videojuegos como los primeros Grand Theft Auto o principalmente y del cual toma inspiración, en Hot Line Miami, el cual es en juego de acción pura y frenética el cual considero y estoy bastante seguro que los guionistas y el director de John Wick 4 se inspiraron al momento de hacer y filmar esta escena.
Otro de los aspectos que mas me llamo la atención de este película corresponde a una de las escenas finales y es que luego de un duelo con pistolas, en el cual John Wick gana a su modo, nuestro querido protagonista queda herido de muerte y en esa escena, donde ya yo suponía que John moriría, me recordó mucho a la escena final de Cowboy Bebop, ya que en ambas obras, los dos protagonistas bajan una escalera totalmente moribundos y heridos por balas hasta caer y posteriormente morir. No estoy seguro si el director de esta película se inspiró en esa escena de Cowboy Bebop, pero fue una escena que me hizo recordar inmediatamente a la muerte de Spike en el anime. Sin embargo, luego de ver esa escena y aceptar que John Wick había muerto, viene otra escena mas donde nos muestran la tumba de John junto a la de su esposa, es un momento bastante triste, pero cuando uno de los amigos de John Wick le pregunta a Wiston que “¿A dónde fue él, al infierno o al cielo?”, en esa escena hay una pequeña sonrisa un poco cómplice por parte de unos de los personajes y además, añadido a lo anterior, el perro de John Wick se alerta ante algo que vio, pero nunca se muestra que es ese algo y la película termina ahí.
Me gustaría que John Wick estuviera muerto, ya que fue un personaje que tuvo una vida plagada de muertes en todos los sentidos y por fin pudo tener su libertad, aunque haya sido a costa de su muerte. Lo que si espero y me gustaría es saber cómo fue su origen y como fue creciendo su fama de ser el mejor asesino de ese universo. Esta película tiene una escena post créditos que abre las puertas a otra película, serie o algún producto dentro de ese universo, del cual ya están confirmados al menos dos más. Pero en fin, vean toda la saga de John Wick, incluso si ya la has visto anteriormente, mírala de nuevo, porque merece mucho la pena.
Going to see a movie that were not the way we expected is something that brings a bad thoughts, I have been seeing John wick 4 on trends for over sometimes, maybe I will go see it too, movies that calls for our attention, when it turns out best is one thing of happiness.
