Hello fellow Cinephiles

Who's a true crime fan?
I've started to get "in contact" with serial killers when I was around 13.
My mom had decided to get a degree in "Criminology" and I used to help her on her papers because she had no talent to type. I still have papers I wrote for her. Just the other day I stumbled upon one about the "Yakuza".

I guess that back then I already had the curiosity to pick their brains.
Ever since then I started to watch a lot of movies on that topic and was only a matter of time until I watched "Zodiac" for the first time a couple of years ago. (I still watch it).

- Title: "Zodiac"
- Director: David Fincher
- Cast: Jack Gyllenhaal; Mark Ruffalo; Robert Downey Jr.; Elias Koteas;
- Genre(s): Crime; Drama; Thriller;
- Released: 2007
- Runtime: 2h 37m
- Plot: 1st of August of 1968, the day that 3 unidentified letters arrive at 3 of San Francisco's biggest media outlets.
In those letters were a confession and identity for the self-proclaimed "Zodiac killer", plot twist: they were in code.
Running against time to avoid new murders, a police investigator (Mark Ruffalo), a newspaper writer (Robert Downey Jr.), and a cartoonist (Jake Gyllenhall) have to bring their forces together to unmask this serial killer.

(Real letters sent by the REAL Zodiac killer)

- My opinion: I have to say that this is not your regular "let's catch a killer" movie.
As per usual, David Fincher delivered great entertainment!
We have two stories: "The Zodiac killer" happenings and the story around our imaginary cast. Is not always easy to make it work because you have to pay attention to the "real-life" details so the original plot does clash and Fincher did it masterfully.
The cast was superb!
When it comes to Mark Ruffalo I'm always surprised.
After having him stuck in the rom-com slot for years(13 going on 30), my first instinct is to stray away from his work. Nonetheless, his part fits him like a glove.

I recommend it to everyone (both true crime fans or not).
It has a great story-line and is one of the most famous cases across the globe.
Just how I like it, brings you entertainment with the truth.

(Fun Fact: 5 days ago - FIVE DAYS - a team of investigators called "Case Breakers" lead by retired FBI investigators announced that they finally found the zodiac killer. So you might wanna check that out after the movie)

I'm obsessed with true crime and any info on serial killers I can get my hands on. I vaguely remember seeing this movie which means it's time for a much needed re-watch! Thank you for the awesome review and for the fun fact at the end! 😍

The fun fact came as a surprise even for me! It just popped up when I was looking for the images.

It took me about 3 years to convince my partner to watch this. She is a huge fan of true crime stuff and once she seen this, oh boy did she love it! That was a great read :D This for sure needs to go on the list of movies to watch on the couch again this week, thank you for that

If you have any questions I'm happy to help. I'm a criminology student and a massive enthusiast 😊
