Las benditas IA están por todas partes, series y películas están siendo sacadas y producidas en masa siendo ellas el centro de las tramas. ¿Será que no están queriendo decir o advertir de lo que podría venir o simplemente es un boom publicitario y ya?. Personalmente yo si creo que esto es el futuro, no uno próximo pero si de aquí a unos cuantos años, de por si las IA hoy en día cada vez están más avanzadas, ejemplo de ello es el ChatGPT, que a medida que más lo uses más va aprendiendo y adaptándose. Pues esta película va casi de lo mismo pero estando un par de escalones más arriba en cuanto al avance tecnológico. Lo que se ve acá es el potencial peligro que pudiera suponer tener algo de esta magnitud en nuestras casas.
The blessed AI's are everywhere, series and movies are being released and mass produced being them the center of the plots, could it be that they are not wanting to say or warn of what could come or is it just a publicity boom and that's it? Personally I do believe that this is the future, not a near one but a few years from now, AIs today are becoming more and more advanced, an example of this is ChatGPT, the more you use it the more it learns and adapts. Well, this movie is almost the same but being a couple of steps above in terms of technological advancement. What we see here is the potential danger of having something of this magnitude in our homes.
Esta historia comienza con un matrimonio feliz entre Maggie (Madeline Zima) y Nick (Michele Morrone), padres de dos hijos que viven la típica vida de familia. Un buen día Maggie sufre un percance de salud y queda recluida en un hospital lo que obliga a Nick a contratar a una especie de niñera - ama de casa para que lo ayude con las labores de su hogar. Esta niñera a la que la hija le pone como nombre Alice (Megan Fox) es una IA de última generación la cual simula a la perfección el cómo ser un humano. En teoría ella debería de tener ciertos límites y obviamente al ser un robot no es capaz de sentir ningún tipo de emociones pero como es de esperarse esto está a punto de cambiar.
This story begins with a happy marriage between Maggie (Madeline Zima) and Nick (Michele Morrone), parents of two children who live a typical family life. One day Maggie suffers a health mishap and is confined to a hospital, which forces Nick to hire a kind of nanny - housekeeper to help him with his household chores. This nanny, whom the daughter names Alice (Megan Fox), is a state-of-the-art AI that perfectly simulates what it's like to be a human. In theory she should have certain limits and obviously being a robot she is not capable of feeling any kind of emotions but as expected this is about to change.
Creo que el miedo de todos con respecto a las IA es que precisamente pase lo que termina ocurriendo en este film: que se vuelvan autónomas y cobren conciencia-emociones. Alice a medida que convive con esta familia poco a poco pareciera que va desarrollando una especie de afecto hacia el hecho de pertenecer y de tener una familia propia lo que rápidamente hará que su realidad se comience a distorsionar. Todo lo que ella vea y que suponga un peligro para su entorno buscará eliminarlo sin importar quien sea. El film poco a poco nos va mostrando esa evolución hasta que llega al clímax del asunto que es cuando Alice se transforma en "algo" completamente independiente y fuera de su guión y razón de ser.
I think everyone's fear regarding AIs is that precisely what ends up happening in this film will happen: that they will become autonomous and gain consciousness-emotions. Alice, as she lives with this family, little by little seems to develop a kind of affection for the fact of belonging and having a family of her own, which will quickly distort her reality. Everything she sees that poses a danger to her environment, she will try to eliminate it no matter who it is. The film gradually shows us this evolution until it reaches the climax of the story, which is when Alice becomes “something” completely independent and outside of her script and reason for being.
Honestamente cuando empecé a ver la película sabía en lo que me había metido, otra trama más como las miles que hay en donde las IA se rebelan y comienzan a causar caos. No hay nada diferente a lo que ustedes hayan visto alguna vez por lo que el factor sorpresa no existe, desde el mismo principio ya sabemos cuál será el desarrollo de esta historia. Creo que lo relevante de este film es mostrarnos un posible futuro en donde estas IA, que aquí las llaman "SIMS", van a ser parte importante de la vida cotidiana de las personas al punto que estarán en todos los puestos de trabajos y esto, como es obvio, causará indignación y resentimiento en las personas.
Honestly when I started watching the movie I knew what I was getting into, just another plot like the thousands there are where AIs rebel and start causing chaos. There is nothing different from what you have ever seen, so the surprise factor does not exist, from the very beginning we already know what will be the development of this story. I think what is relevant in this film is to show us a possible future where these AIs, which here are called “SIMS”, will be an important part of people's daily lives to the point that they will be in all jobs and this, obviously, will cause indignation and resentment in people.
Esto lo pudiera catalogar como un thriller un tanto psicológico porque de terror no tiene mucho y de suspenso menos. Quizás hay un poco de tensión a veces cuando se dan algunas persecuciones o malentendidos entre Alice y su entorno pero de allí no pasa. La violencia que hay no es muy fuerte, un par de golpes y uno que otro disparo es lo que veremos. Como ya dije lo que realmente llama la atención es hasta dónde es capaz de llegar estas máquinas, es esa expectativa que se genera sobre cual será el próximo paso en aras de mantener su entorno estable y como ella lo visualiza como perfecto e ideal.
This could be classified as a somewhat psychological thriller because it doesn't have much in the way of horror and less in the way of suspense. Maybe there is a little tension at times when there are some chases or misunderstandings between Alice and her environment but it doesn't go beyond that. The violence is not very strong, a couple of blows and one or two shots is what we will see. As I said, what really catches our attention is how far these machines are capable of going, it is that expectation that is generated about what the next step will be in order to keep her environment stable and how she sees it as perfect and ideal.
Siento que las actuaciones estuvieron totalmente neutras. Megan Fox no lo hace mal pero tampoco es algo para destacar mucho. Entiendo que interpretar a un robot puede ser complicado pero como la premisa de la película es que estas IA son muy parecidas a los humanos pues no se llega a ver esa diferencia y el trabajo actoral pasa por debajo de la mesa. El resto de cast sin nada que decir. La película es cualquier cosa, la curiosidad fue lo que me llevó a verla, creo que siempre será interesante ver cosas relacionadas a las IA por más clichés que estén en el panorama del cine; la cosa es que esas producciones sean mínimamente de calidad.
I feel that the performances were totally neutral. Megan Fox doesn't do bad but it's not something to highlight much either. I understand that playing a robot can be complicated but since the premise of the movie is that these AI's are very similar to humans you don't get to see that difference and the acting work goes under the table. The rest of the cast has nothing to say. The movie is anything, curiosity was what led me to see it, I think it will always be interesting to see things related to AIs no matter how cliché they are in the movie scene; the thing is that these productions are minimally of quality.
Esta reseña está hecha para alertar a aquellos que quieran ver este film a que es más de lo mismo. La trama es floja, hay cosas del guión que la verdad son inexplicables pero creo que para esos días en donde el aburrimiento es más poderoso que cualquier cosa es una opción viable. Dura menos de dos horas. Le doy un 5/10. Pudo haber sido mejor pero también bastante peor, creo que sobre el final lograron salvar algo. Les dejo el tráiler por acá.
This review is meant to alert those who want to see this film that it is more of the same. The plot is weak, there are things in the script that are inexplicable but I think that for those days when boredom is more powerful than anything it is a viable option. It lasts less than two hours. I give it a 5/10. It could have been better but also much worse, I think they managed to save something at the end. I leave the trailer here.
