I saw this movie because Juliette Lewis was in it, but at the time the movie was not very well received, I think J Lo was nominated for a Razzie for this movie, I don't remember very well. For me it was entertaining and knew how to mix a movie plot for the masses with a critique of domestic violence, I think now the message of the movie has more relevance and more people will like it than when it was released.

That's right, in 2002 it didn't have much impact, I didn't even know of its existence. I agree with your assessment, nowadays it is much more valued because the plot manages to identify many women who have suffered abuse or know people who have suffered domestic violence.
