What struck me most is your observation about how director David Lean's "God's-eye view" perspective establishes from the beginning his role as the "Almighty" of this filmic universe. That introduction with the motorcycle and the bust in the museum really puts the viewer in that mode of contemplating history from an omniscient perspective.
