Hello all Hive friends, I hope you are doing great.. this time I want to share with you a new review, and this time I want to talk to you about the series: The OA, a series that I recently finished and I found it a mind-blowing and disconcerting journey. Well, if you are one of those people who love stories, that challenge your perceptions and make you question reality, this one is perfect for you, but I must warn you, it's not an easy ride.. The OA demands patience, an open mind, and a willingness to embrace the weird and the wonderful.. First things first, the plot, it's not your typical linear story, instead, it unfolds like a puzzle, with pieces scattered across two parallel timelines, Prairie's present and her past.. this structure adds so much depth and intrigue that it can leave you deep into the narrative, or it can push you back, depends on your mood... One moment you're completely immersed in this woman's life, after her mysterious seven year disappearance, and the next you're pulled into her chilling back story... it's like being a detective, constantly piecing the story together...there were many times I paused an episode to scratch my head and try to figure out what had just happened.
Let's talk a little about Prairie, played by Britt Marling, she is not your average protagonist... there is something so raw and authentic about her, and this actress' performance is mesmerizing.. the transformation from a blind girl to someone who can see (and so much more) is captivating. It's not just about regaining the sight she thought was lost, it's about gaining a new perspective on life, death, and everything in between.. her story is deeply existential, touching on complex issues such as identity, faith, and the limits of human sensory experience. It is hard not to be moved by his determination and obviously his search for meaning.
Hola a todos amigos de Hive, espero que se encuentren super bien.. en esta ocasión quiero compartir con ustedes una nueva reseña, y quiero hablarles esta vez de la serie: The OA, una serie que termine recientemente y que me pareció un viaje alucinante y desconcertante. Bueno, si eres de esas personas que aman las historias, que desafían tus percepciones y te hacen cuestionar la realidad, esta es perfecta para ti, pero debo advertirles, no es un paseo fácil.. The OA exige paciencia, una mente abierta, y la disposición de abrazar lo raro y lo maravilloso.. Primero lo primero, la trama, no es la típica historia lineal, en cambio, se desarrolla como un rompecabezas, con piezas dispersas en dos líneas temporales paralelas, el presente de Prairie y su pasado.. esta estructura añade tanta profundidad e intriga que puede dejarte muy adentro de la narrativa, o puede expulsarte hacia atrás, depende de tu estado de ánimo.. Un momento estás completamente inmerso en la vida de esta mujer, después de su misteriosa desaparición de siete años, y al siguiente te ves arrastrado a su escalofriante historia pasada.. es como ser un detective, constantemente uniendo la historia.. fueron mucha las veces me pause un episodio para rascarme la cabeza e intentar entender que acababa de pasar.
Hablemos un poco de Prairie, interpretada por Britt Marling, no es la protagonista promedio.. hay algo tan crudo y auténtico en ella, y la actuación de esta actriz es hipnotizante.. la transformación de una chica ciega a alguien que puede ver (y mucho más) es cautivadora. No se trata solo de recuperar la vista que creía perdida, sino que se trata de adquirir una nueva perspectiva sobre la vida, la muerte, y todo lo que está en medio.. su historia es profundamente existencial, tocando temas complejos como la identidad, la fe, y los límites de la experiencia sensorial humana. Es difícil no sentirse conmovido por su determinación y obviamente su búsqueda de significado.
The secondary characters are just as fascinating as this girl.. this motley crew of misfits she brings together is so flawed and yet so endearing, each one brings something unique to the table and their dynamic is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. They are not your typical side characters, but are a unique integral part of the story and you can't help but root for them... there is something special about how their individual stories intertwine with Prairie's, creating a web of emotions that grabs you.. Now, delving a little deeper into the supernatural and sci-fi elements, this series introduces concepts like multiple realities, near-death experiences and portals between dimensions.. it's mind-blowing, to say the least.. the idea that there is a purgatory-like realm where people can learn to traverse dimensions is weird and shocking. And there are some super weird moves, at first they are almost ridiculous, but in the end you end up getting used to them and later on I found them beautiful and profound...I found myself crying during some scenes where the characters perform them, it's like a dance of hope and defiance against the impossible.
Also, these movements symbolize something much bigger... the human connection and the struggle to overcome the limits of reality as we know it. But I'm not going to lie, the series is not for everyone, the pacing can be very slow at times, especially in the first few episodes.. I admit there were times when I almost abandoned it because I didn't think things were going to go anywhere, but thank goodness I didn't, because I feel it was worth it... once the pieces start to fall into place it's incredibly rewarding. The scattered narrative and philosophical undertones may not appeal to everyone, but for me it added that special kind of charm.. it's as if the series itself challenges you to keep up and think much deeper.. each episode is like an invitation to reflect on our own existence and the possibilities beyond what we know and what we believe..
Los personajes secundarios son igual de fascinantes que esta chica.. este grupo heterogéneo de inadaptados que reúne es tan defectuoso y sin embargo tan entrañable, cada uno aporta algo único y su dinámica es a la vez conmovedora y desgarradora. No son los típicos personajes secundarios, sino que son una parte integral única de la historia y no puedes evitar apoyarlos.. hay algo especial en cómo sus historias individuales se entrelazan con las de Prairie, creando una red de emociones que te atrapan.. Ahora, profundizando un poco más en los elementos sobrenaturales y de ciencia ficción, esta serie introduce conceptos como múltiples realidades, experiencias cercanas a la muerte y portales entre dimensiones.. es alucinante, por decir menos.. la idea de que existe un reino similar al purgatorio donde las personas pueden aprender a atravesar dimensiones es raro e impactante. Y hay unos movimientos súper extraños, al principio son casi ridículos, pero al final terminas acostumbrándote y más adelante me parecieron hermosos y profundos.. me encontré llorando durante algunas escenas en las que los personajes los realizan, es como una danza de esperanza y desafío contra lo imposible.
Además, estos movimientos simbolizan algo mucho más grande.. la conexión humana y la lucha por superar los límites de la realidad como la conocemos. Pero no voy a mentir, la serie no es para todos, el ritmo puede ser muy lento a veces, especialmente en los primeros episodios.. admito que hubo momentos en los que casi la abandono porque no creía que las cosas fueran a llegar a alguna parte, pero menos mal que no lo hice, porque siento que valió la pena.. una vez las piezas comienzan a encajar es increíblemente gratificante. La narrativa dispersa y los matices filosóficos pueden no atraer a todos, pero para mí añadieron ese tipo de encanto especial.. es como si la serie misma te desafiara a mantener el ritmo y a pensar mucho más profundamente.. cada episodio es como una invitación a reflexionar sobre nuestra propia existencia y las posibilidades más allá de lo que conocemos y de lo que creemos..
Visually, The OA is stunning... the cinematography strikes me as a work of art, from the intimate shots of the present, to the expansive, almost blurry visuals of the past. Every frame is deliberate and conveys so many feelings to you, the use of light, shadow and color greatly enhances the narrative in a way that words alone could not.. and the sound design I thought was also incredible, the music and sound effects completely immerse you in this story, making you feel every emotion, every moment of tension and every glimmer of hope. The soundtrack as such is particularly unforgettable... it perfectly captures the mystical and emotional essence of the series. Another thing I liked about this series is how it leaves you with more questions than answers, and yes, this is something that can be positive, as it is not a series that gives you everything on a silver platter.
On the contrary, it invites you to interpret, theorize and debate... we get to think if Prairie's story is real or made up. What do these strange movements really mean? Even after finishing the series, surely some of you will end up pondering many of these questions.. it's the kind of story that can make you question many things at once, and this non-linear, mystery-filled approach makes The OA very memorable, in my opinion. Of course, I consider it not perfect... some parts felt a bit too ambiguous and there were times when I wished for much more clarity, but with the help of some YouTube videos I was able to understand everything that was going on much better.
The end of the first season, for example, left me both amazed and frustrated.. but hey, at the end of the day, these types of stories are meant to make you feel things.. not just make you sit still. Even if it's something that makes you feel confusion or so on, it counts as a feeling you didn't have before.. the ability of this series to provoke all these varied emotions is a testament to its complexity.. obviously it depends on your taste in thinking, you may like or dislike this.
Visualmente, The OA es impresionante.. la cinematografía me parece una obra de arte, desde las tomas íntimas del presente, hasta las visuales expansivas y casi borrosas del pasado. Cada cuadro es deliberado y te transmite muchos sentimientos, el uso de la luz, la sombra y el color realza mucho la narrativa de manera que las palabras por sí solas no podrían.. y el diseño de sonido me pareció también increíble, la música y los efectos sonoros te sumergen por completo en esta historia, haciéndote sentir cada emoción, cada momento de tensión y cada destello de esperanza. La banda sonora como tal es en particular inolvidable.. captura perfectamente la esencia mística y emocional de la serie. Otra de las cosas que me gustaron de esta serie es cómo te deja con más preguntas que respuestas, y sí, esto es algo que puede ser positivo, ya que no es una serie que te da todo en bandeja de plata.
Al contrario, te invita a interpretar, a teorizar y a debatir.. nos ponemos a pensar si la historia de Prairie es real o es inventada. ¿Qué significan realmente estos movimientos extraños? Incluso después de terminar la serie, seguramente algunos de ustedes terminarán reflexionando sobre muchas de estas preguntas.. es el tipo de historia que puede hacerte cuestionar muchas cosas a la vez, y este enfoque no lineal y lleno de misterios hace que The OA sea muy memorable, a mi parecer. Por supuesto, considero que no es perfecta.. algunas partes se sienten un poco demasiado ambiguas y hubo momentos en los que desee mucha más claridad, pero con ayuda de algunos videos de YouTube pude comprender mucho mejor todo lo que pasaba.
El final de la primera temporada, por ejemplo, me dejó tanto asombrado como frustrado.. pero bueno, al final y al cabo, este tipo de historias están hechas para hacerte sentir cosas.. no simplemente hacer que no te muevas del lugar. Incluso si es algo que te hace sentir confusión o demás, cuenta como un sentimiento que antes no tenías.. la capacidad de esta serie para provocar todas estas emociones variadas es un testimonio de su complejidad.. obviamente depende de tu gusto por pensar, puede esto gustarte o no gustarte.
I give this series a rating of 8.5/10. It's not a series for everyone, but if you're willing to dive in...it's a unique experience. It's a story that defies convention by mixing existentialism, the supernatural and science fiction in a truly different way...it's not just a story and that's it, it's a deep exploration of what it means to be human, to have hope and to believe in something. Throughout the episodes you find yourself questioning a lot of things.. not only what is happening on screen, but also your own beliefs and perspectives on the universe.. so I think it deserves a lot more attention than it gets.. it's a journey that can bring a lot of conversations and open a lot of debates, it's ideal for those moments when you want to get into something really deep. You can give at least the first season a chance and see what you think.. as it's obviously not for everyone.. it's normal to feel a bit overwhelmed by this kind of change of perspective, and that's okay too. Yo le doy a esta serie una calificación de 8.5/10. No es una serie para todos, pero si tú has dispuesto a sumergirte.. es una experiencia única. Es una historia que desafía las convenciones mezclando existencialismo, lo sobrenatural y la ciencia ficción de una manera verdaderamente diferente.. no es solo una historia y ya, es una exploración profunda de lo que significa ser humano, tener esperanza y creer en algo. A lo largo de los episodios te encuentras cuestionando muchas cosas.. no solo lo que está sucediendo en pantalla, sino también tus propias creencias y perspectivas sobre el universo.. entonces, considero que merece mucha más atención de la que tiene.. ya que es todo un viaje que puede aportar muchas conversaciones y abrir muchos debates, es ideal para esos momentos en los que quieres adentrarte en algo sumamente profundo. Puedes darle una oportunidad al menos a la primera temporada y ver qué te parece.. ya que obviamente no es para todos.. es normal sentirse un poco agobiado por este tipo de cambio de perspectiva, y eso también está bien. Sin duda alguna es una serie que vas viendo y de repente te preguntas qué hago viendo esto.
Yo a la primera temporada le daría un 10 no por un fanatismo sino porque de verdad no encontraría la manera de mejorar la historia, es tal cual todo lo que explicas, que en momentos llega a ser chocante lo sinsentido que es, aún así no deja de ser fascinante, desde la coreografía épica hasta los momentos que te hacen odiar cierto personaje, en una temporada siento que veo como 4 temporadas de lo movida que es.
Ahora la segunda temporada si que es otro embrollo que no está nada mal pero da la impresión de que es otra serie con los mismos personajes, es difícil encontrar el vínculo con la primera parte, pero tiene cosas muy buenas también que a mí me engancharon pero es para estar en otro mood absolutamente diferente a la primera.
La primera temporada sin duda fue de lo mejor, gracias por leerme, que bueno que te haya gustado!
