Hello everyone, I hope you are doing great today... this time I want to tell you about a movie that I'm sure many of you know, since it has become a classic for what it has triggered, but I still consider that there are people who probably do not know it and that's why I wanted to talk about it. Today I will talk about the movie: The Revenant. And the thing is, wow... it may be several years later, but it still has the same impact on me as the first time, when you finish watching this movie, you feel like you have gone through a whole journey. I would say it's an experience that many should have, if you haven't seen it, let me tell you that this movie is not for the faint of heart, it's a raw, brutal and extremely intense story... you don't just watch it, you survive it, haha...
Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar for his performance in this movie and it is well deserved... but well, let's talk a little more about what makes this movie unique and exceptional, DiCaprio did an excellent job... we all know he is a very talented actor and he has been in the industry for a long time, and although as a person he can be questionable, he has given us iconic roles, but the performance in this movie is on another level... I understand why this role finally gave him an Oscar. This actor barely speaks in the movie, but he doesn't need words... everything he feels, the pain, the rage, the despair, it's all there, in his eyes, in his breathing.. in his expressions, even in the way he moves. There are scenes that, wow, you can feel all his suffering so vividly... it's like it's seeping through the screen, the way he transmits all those emotions is unique, and without a doubt, you have to talk about the commitment this actor had for this role... you can feel all that emotional and physical weight he had to go through.
Hola a todos, espero que hoy estén súper bien.. en esta ocasión quiero contarles sobre una película que estoy seguro que muchos de ustedes conocerán, ya que se ha convertido en un clásico por lo que ha desencadenado, pero aún considero que hay gente que probablemente no la conozca y justo por eso quería hablar de ella. Hoy les hablaré de la película: The Revenant. Y es que, wow.. puede ser que hayan pasado ya varios años, pero sigue impactándome igual que la primera vez, cuando terminas de ver esta película, sientes que has atravesado todo un viaje. Diría que es una experiencia que muchos deberían tener, si no la han visto, déjame decirte que esta película no es para los débiles de corazón, es una historia cruda, brutal y sumamente intensa.. no solo la ves, la sobrevives, jaja..
Leonardo DiCaprio ganó un Oscar por su actuación en esta película y lo tiene merecidísimo.. pero bueno, hablemos un poco más de lo que hace a esta película algo único y excepcional, DiCaprio hizo un trabajo excelente.. todos sabemos que es un actor muy talentoso y que ha estado en la industria por mucho tiempo, y aunque como persona puede ser cuestionable, nos ha regalado papeles icónicos, pero la actuación en esta película es de otro nivel.. entiendo por qué este papel finalmente le dio un Oscar. Apenas este actor habla en la película, pero no necesita palabras.. todo lo que siente, el dolor, la rabia, la desesperación, todo eso está ahí, en sus ojos, en su respiración.. en sus expresiones, incluso en la forma en la que se mueve. Hay escenas que, wow, puedes sentir todo su sufrimiento de manera tan vívida.. es como si se filtrara por la pantalla, la manera de transmitir todas esas emociones es única, y sin duda, hay que hablar del compromiso que tuvo este actor para este papel.. se siente todo ese peso emocional y físico que tuvo que atravesar.
But not to forget Tom Hardy, because wow, he does amazing too, he plays John, the antagonist, and he is just so good at being terrible.. he is someone vicious, ruthless, and completely selfish, the actor totally nails it.. you really end up hating this guy, but you can't take your eyes off him, he has this way of saying so many things in a blunt way that gives you goosebumps, you feel this quiet intensity, that makes it feel so real. There were moments where I found myself thinking that this actor also deserved an Oscar.. and his chemistry, or maybe anti-chemistry, with Dicaprio is electric... every time they are on screen together it's like the tension rises to sky-high levels, watching them interact is without a doubt one of the best things I've ever seen. Now, let's talk a little bit about the visual aspects, because I also consider this movie to be stunning.. the cinematographer along with the design team did it wonderfully.. everything was shot with natural light, which sounds like a fancy filmmaker thing to do, but let me tell you it changes everything, the light feels soft and golden..
Those icy gray shots during the snowy scenes, wow, they are just great, everything becomes so atmospheric, there are shots where the camera rises up into the trees... and the way the sunlight filters through the branches was incredible. And not to mention the long shots, I don't even know how they did it... it all feels super authentic and at the same time fantastical how perfect it is... it all becomes so immersive, it's like you're right there in the middle of it all. The way they capture nature itself, is also beautiful, they don't just show their beautiful version, but they can also show you how nature can be harsh, unforgiving and alive... you feel the cold, the isolation... I'm serious, there are moments where you really get transported to that frozen space. And not to mention the bear scene... these are things that never make you look at wildlife in the same way again, they are terrifying, visceral and so real sequences that make you fear being in a situation like that... you can't relax for a second.
Pero no hay que olvidarse de Tom Hardy, porque wow, él también lo hace increíble, interpreta a John, el antagonista, y él es simplemente tan bueno siendo terrible.. es alguien vicioso, despiadado, y completamente egoísta, el actor lo clava totalmente.. realmente terminas odiando a este tipo, pero no puedes dejar de mirarlo, tiene esta forma de decir tantas cosas de manera brusca que te pone la piel de gallina, sientes esta intensidad tranquila, eso hace sentirse tan real. Hubo momentos en los que me encontré pensando que este actor también merecía un Oscar.. y su química, o tal vez anti-química, con Dicaprio es eléctrica.. cada vez que están juntos en la pantalla es como si la tensión subiera a niveles altísimos, verlos interactuar es sin duda de las mejores cosas que he visto. Ahora, hablemos un poco de los aspectos visuales, porque también considero que esta película es impresionante.. el director de fotografía junto al equipo de diseño lo hicieron de maravilla.. todo se filmó con luz natural, lo que suena como una cosa elegante de cineasta, pero déjenme decirles que lo cambia todo, la luz se siente suave y dorada..
Esas tomas heladas y grises durante las escenas nevadas, wow, son simplemente geniales, todo se vuelve tan atmosférico, hay planos donde la cámara se eleva hacia los árboles.. y la forma en la que la luz del sol se filtra a través de las ramas fue increíble. Y ni hablar de los planos largos, ni siquiera sé cómo lo lograron.. todo se siente súper auténtico y a la vez fantasioso de lo perfecto que resulta.. todo se vuelve tan inmersivo, es como si estuvieras ahí en medio de todo. La manera en la que se capturan la naturaleza misma, también es hermosa, no solo muestran su versión bonita, sino también pueden demostrarte cómo la naturaleza puede ser dura, implacable y está viva.. sientes el frío, el aislamiento.. es que, hablo en serio, hay momentos en los que realmente te transportas a ese espacio congelado. Y ni hablar de la escena del oso.. son cosas que no te hacen volver a ver la vida silvestre de la misma manera, son secuencias aterradoras, viscerales y tan reales que te hacen temer estar en una situación así.. no puedes relajarte ni por un segundo.
I thought the music was amazing too... it's not your typical movie soundtrack with big orchestras, it's something subtle, almost creepy, and it blends into the background so perfectly that I didn't even realize how much potential it was adding to the whole atmosphere, there are parts where the music basically just drones and it's something really creepy.. it makes you feel like you're living on the edge, like something horrible is about to happen. I must say that, although it's a movie that I love, I don't consider it perfect, first, it's very long, really long... it's one of the movies where you feel every second of duration, don't get me wrong, it's worth it, but there are moments, especially when the camera stops on a snowy mountain or in a big forest, that it feels like an eternity passed... many times I thought: it's ok, I understand, it's beautiful, can we move on, please?
Clearly the director wanted to show off his artistic prowess here, and while I admire that, sometimes it feels like a bit of overkill. Also, as much as I loved DiCaprio's performance, I didn't always feel entirely connected to his character...I was rooting for him, obviously, but more because I was in awe of his resilience than because I cared deeply about him as a person...it's like the movie is so focused on showing you how tough and indestructible he is, that it forgets to make him human and relatable. Also the story seems pretty straightforward to me and not deep at all, it's a revenge story, simple, because yes, even though it's executed beautifully, it has no depth at all.. but hey, you know what you're coming to and you understand the kind of narrative you're in for in this kind of film.
La música también me pareció increíble.. no es la típica banda sonora de películas con grandes orquestas, sino que es algo sutil, casi escalofriante, y se mezcla en el fondo tan perfectamente que yo ni siquiera me di cuenta cuánto potencial estaba añadiendo a toda la atmósfera, hay partes en donde la música básicamente solo se basa en zumbidos y es algo realmente escalofriante.. te hace sentir que vives al límite, como si algo horrible estuviera a punto de suceder. Debo decir que, aunque es una película que me encanta, no la considero perfecta, primero, es muy larga, realmente larga.. es una de las películas donde sientes cada segundo de duración, no me malinterpreten, vale la pena, pero hay momentos, especialmente cuando la cámara se detiene en una montaña nevada o en un gran bosque, que se siente como si pasara una eternidad.. muchas veces pensé: está bien, lo entiendo, es hermoso, podemos seguir adelante, por favor?
Claramente el director quería mostrar sus dotes artísticas aquí, y aunque lo admiro, a veces se siente como un poco exagerado. Además, por mucho que amé la actuación de DiCaprio, no siempre me sentí del todo conectado con su personaje.. lo estaba apoyando, obviamente, pero más porque estaba impresionado de su resistencia que porque me importara profundamente a él como persona.. es como si la película estuviera tan enfocada en mostrarte lo duro e indestructible que es, que se olvida de hacerlo humano y relatable. También la historia me parece bastante directa y para nada profunda, es una historia de venganza, simple, porque sí, aunque se ejecuta de una manera hermosa, no tiene nada de profundidad.. pero bueno, sabes a lo que vienes y entiendes el tipo de narrativa que te espera en este tipo de películas.
The Revenant is the kind of movie that reminds you why cinema exists and why it's considered an art, it's not just about entertaining you... it's about making you feel something... about being transported to another world, to other countries, to other circumstances... and what changes you the most about this movie is that when you finish it, you feel different, that's just what makes it so good. It's not an easy movie to watch, but it's rewarding... even though it has its flaws, it's really worth it and I recommend it. I give it a 9/10 rating. I don't consider it perfect, but it's pretty close... the performances, the visuals, the sound, it all comes together in a brutal symphony that is unlike anything you've ever seen, if you're a DiCaprio fan or just like good cinema in general, you should give it a chance in case you haven't. The Revenant es el tipo de película que te recuerda por qué existe el cine y por qué es considerado un arte, no se trata solo de entretenerte.. se trata de hacernos sentir algo.. de ser transportado a otro mundo, a otros países, a otras circunstancias.. y lo que más te cambia de esta película es que cuando la terminas, te sientes diferente, es justo eso lo que la hace tan buena. No es una película fácil de ver, pero es gratificante.. aunque tenga sus fallos, realmente vale la pena y la recomiendo. Yo le doy una calificación de 9/10. No la considero perfecta, pero está muy cerca.. las actuaciones, los visuales, el sonido, todo se une en una sinfonía brutal que es diferente a cualquier cosa que hayas visto, si eres fanático de DiCaprio o simplemente te gusta el buen cine en general, deberías darle una oportunidad en caso de que no lo hayas hecho.
