The movie that has left the most lasting impact on me is "Secret Superstar". It’s an Indian film that came out in 2017, and even now, I find myself thinking about it and feeling inspired all over again. The story is simple but yet so powerful, and it speaks to anyone who’s ever dared to dream despite the odds stacked against them.

The movie talks about the journey of a young girl named Insia, who has an incredible gift for singing.

Her voice was actually very beautiful, and she had this dream of becoming a music superstar. But her journey towards achieving that dream wasn't smooth. Her father became her biggest obstacle , he was a strict, abusive man who completely dismissed her aspirations. In his mind, a girl’s place is in the home, helping with chores and preparing for marriage, not chasing a career in music.

On the other hand, Insia’s mother was the hero of the story. Despite her own fears and struggles, she believes in her daughter’s dreams and supports her in any way she can. One of the most touching moments in the movie is when her mother sells her precious jewelry just to buy Insia a guitar. That act of sacrifice and love is so heartwarming because it shows how much she wants her daughter to succeed, even in the face of her own pain

The guitar became a tool for the world to listen to her great voice. But because of her father’s oppressive nature, she can’t openly pursue her passion. So, she starts a YouTube channel on her laptop where she started uploading videos of herself singing while hiding her identity behind an hijab. Her voice was so magical that within few days of performing, she gained alot of views and followers on the channel. At that point, she was so happy and it felt like her dream was eventually coming true.

But Insia’s journey takes a heartbreaking turn. Her father discovered her secret and, in a fit of rage, he asked her to go destroy her guitar. Her mum tried her best to help but she instead got abused by the father for supporting her. To be honest, watching that scene felt like someone had physically crushed her dream. It was devastating, not just for Insia but for everyone that was rooting for her.

Still, Insia refuses to give up. Her resilience and determination are what make her story so inspiring. With the help of a supportive male friend from school she was able to book a flight and meet up with a once famous music producer that gave her another chance to shine. She met up with him and at the end of the day, she had the chance to perform in front of many audience without having to hide her identity. She achieved her dreams and her mum was very happy while her dad on the other hand, regretted for not assisting her in pursuing her dreams.

Secret Superstar" is so much more than a movie about music. It’s a story about never giving up, even when the odds are against you. It’s about breaking free from the chains of doubt, fear, and oppression and holding on to your dreams no matter what. Watching it made me reflect on my own goals and challenges. It reminded me that setbacks are part of the journey, but they don’t have to define you. Like Insia, I can push forward, even when it feels like no one else believes in me.

This movie gives me hope. It inspires me to keep believing in myself, even when the road gets tough. It tells me that dreams are worth fighting for and that even the smallest support—whether from one person or within yourself—can make all the difference. "Secret Superstar" will always hold a special place in my heart for teaching me that no dream is too big and no obstacle is too great to overcome. It’s a story I’ll carry with me for a long time.

Thanks for reading.
