A mi parecer la película It Ends with Us se ha adaptado muy bien a la novela de Colleen Hoover, leí este libro y puedo decir que la película ha logrado contar una historia seria a la vez que mantiene la intriga en el viaje de sus personajes, si es algo más sutil que el libro en cuanto al abuso pero creo que los directores lograron mantener la esencia de la historia original. La película comienza con Lily Bloom en el funeral de su padre donde ni siquiera puede ni siquiera se le ocurren cinco cosas buenas que decir sobre él desde aquí se ve las cosas oscuras que saldrán a la luz más adelante en la historia, después de mudarse a Boston para perseguir su sueño de abrir una floristería, Lily conoce al encantador neurocirujano Ryle Kincaid su encuentro inicial es en una azotea y parece un romance típico pero evoluciona hacia algo más.
La trama va pasando entre el presente en y el pasado de Lily cuando era una adolescente donde estableció una conexión profunda con Atlas, un chico sin hogar que vivía escondido frente a la casa de su familia. Estos flashbacks son importante para poder comprender el carácter de Lily y sus reacciones ante lo que pasa en su vida adulta. A medida que avanza la relación de Lily con Ryle, vemos cómo ese encanto y enamoramiento inicial va dando paso a algo que puede ser preocupante. El Atlas adulto vuelve a la vida de Lily como propietario de un exitoso restaurante, lo que que obliga a Lily a reconocer su pasado y su presente y tomar decisiones importantes, la película cumple con mostrar cómo los patrones de abuso pueden repetirse a través de las generaciones a medida que aprendemos más sobre la infancia de Lily y las luchas que tiene con su propia relación con Ryle.
Blake Lively interpreta a Lily para mí logró captar muy bien esa parte emocional de Lily desde una mujer fuerte e independiente hasta una que no sabe quién es en una situación cada vez más inestable, Justin Baldoni es Ryle y además es el director, fue capaz de mostrar tanto el lado encantador de Ryle que atrae a Lily como el lado más oscuro de su personalidad sin caer en la categoría de malvado. Brandon Sklenar es Atlas fue mi favorito y quedé encantada con su personaje tierno y protector.
La película muestra de manera delicada el tema de la violencia doméstica, lo que más me gustó de esta adaptación es que se las arregla para mantener el esa parte emocional de la historia dándole profundidad creo que eso es algo que solo el cine puede lograr, aunque es un drama romántico, también es una mirada seria a la violencia doméstica, y a veces logra equilibrar esos dos temas. Lily es vulnerable y fuerte a la vez, debe encontrar una salida a una relación abusiva y lo que me da más rabia es que Ryle tiene tanto encanto como para entender por qué Lily se enamora de él pero no es posible excusar nunca sus acciones, la película puede ponerse cursi en algunas parte sobretodo en la historia de Atlas pero creo que es un éxito en su mensaje sobre la dificultad de dejar una relación abusiva, me pareció una buena decisión la de mantener el foco en el tema central de romper los ciclos de abuso y no enfocarse tanto en el pasado de Lily con Atlas.
El final de It Ends with Us es un final poderoso donde Lily es capaz de poner fin al ciclo de abuso, Ryle ha sido violento con ella en muchas ocasiones, sobre todo en una escena en su cocina que refleja el trauma de su infancia, y finalmente Lily tiene que tomar una decisión difícil que es dejarlo, luego cuando descubre que está embarazada de él, esta decisión se vuelve aún más complicada, esta parte la película se maneja con cuidado y se puede ver cómo Lily tiene que elegir entre proteger a su hija que está por nacer y el amor que aún tiene por Ryle. Al final Lily da a luz a su hija y pone límites con Ryle sobre la crianza compartida, pero también se puede ver lo que puede ser como un comienzo con Atlas. Me gustó el final porque no sigue el camino tradicional del drama romántico de elegir entre dos hombres en su lugar, Lily decide cuidar primero de sí misma y del bienestar de su hija. En las escenas finales de la película, Lily tiene éxito su floristería y Ryle está presente pero solo en la crianza de su hija, Ryle no se convierte en el malo simplemente se demuestra que es necesario alejarse de una relación abusiva, aunque para algunas personas pueda ser una historia dura creo que es buena para reflexionar sobre cómo romper estos ciclos y encontrar la fuerza para elegirnos a nosotros mismos, yo le doy un 7.2/10.

It seems to me that the movie It Ends with Us has been very well adapted from Colleen Hoover's novel. I read the book and I can say that the movie has managed to tell a serious story while keeping the intrigue in the journey of its characters. It is somewhat more subtle than the book in terms of the abuse, but I think the directors managed to maintain the essence of the original story. The film begins with Lily Bloom at her father's funeral where she can't even think of five good things to say about him. From here we see the dark things that will come to light later in the story, after moving to Boston to pursue her dream of opening a flower shop, Lily meets the charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid. Their initial encounter is on a rooftop and seems like a typical romance, but it evolves into something more.
The plot moves between the present in and Lily's past as a teenager, when she established a deep connection with Atlas, a homeless boy who lived hidden in front of her family's house. These flashbacks are important for understanding Lily's character and her reactions to what happens in her adult life. As Lily's relationship with Ryle progresses, we see how that initial charm and infatuation gives way to something that can be worrying. The adult Atlas returns to Lily's life as the owner of a successful restaurant, forcing Lily to recognize her past and present and make important decisions. The film succeeds in showing how patterns of abuse can be repeated across generations as we learn more about Lily's childhood and the struggles she has with her own relationship with Ryle.
Blake Lively plays Lily for me she managed to capture that emotional part of Lily very well from a strong and independent woman to one who doesn't know who she is in an increasingly unstable situation, Justin Baldoni is Ryle and he is also the director, he was able to show both the charming side of Ryle that attracts Lily and the darker side of his personality without falling into the category of evil. Brandon Sklenar as Atlas was my favorite and I was charmed by his tender and protective character.
The film delicately deals with the subject of domestic violence, what I liked most about this adaptation is that it manages to maintain the emotional part of the story giving it depth, I think that is something that only cinema can achieve, although it is a romantic drama, it is also a serious look at domestic violence, and sometimes it manages to balance those two themes. Lily is vulnerable and strong at the same time, she must find a way out of an abusive relationship and what makes me angriest is that Ryle is charming enough to understand why Lily falls in love with him but it is never possible to excuse his actions, the film can get cheesy in places, especially in the Atlas story, but I think it succeeds in its message about the difficulty of leaving an abusive relationship. I thought it was a good decision to keep the focus on the central theme of breaking cycles of abuse and not focus so much on Lily's past with Atlas.
The ending of It Ends with Us is a powerful ending where Lily is able to end the cycle of abuse, Ryle has been violent towards her on many occasions, especially in a scene in his kitchen that reflects the trauma of her childhood, and finally Lily has to make a difficult decision to leave him, then when she discovers that she is pregnant by him, this decision becomes even more complicated, this part of the film is handled with care and you can see how Lily has to choose between protecting her unborn daughter and the love she still has for Ryle. In the end Lily gives birth to her daughter and sets boundaries with Ryle about co-parenting, but you can also see what a start with Atlas might look like. I liked the ending because it doesn't follow the traditional romantic drama path of choosing between two men instead, Lily decides to take care of herself and the well-being of her daughter first. In the final scenes of the film, Lily has a successful florist business and Ryle is present but only in the upbringing of their daughter. Ryle does not become the bad guy, it is simply shown that it is necessary to get away from an abusive relationship. Although for some people it may be a tough story, I think it is good for reflecting on how to break these cycles and find the strength to choose ourselves. I give it a 7.2/10.

Es muy buena, es una adapatación de un libro, se enfoca mucho en el tema de la violencia hacia la mujer y en que es necesario romper esos patrones que generalmente pasan de generación en generación. Saludos!
