This is one of my husband’s favorite movies, and he really loves the songs. They are pretty catchy and ethereal. It’s also impressive how Ryan Gosling actually learned to play the piano for the role so that was him playing.
I am quite torn with the movie though. I feel that the world is sad enough as it is and real enough so I just want the corny happy endings so that for those few hours of my life, I can let go of the turmoil and stress and sacrifices, and disappointments of life.
Technically and objectively speaking though, it is a wonderful movie with a superb cast, cinematography, and direction. I’m glad you finally got to enjoy it!
I actually agree, in fact, I knew that the ending was kinda sad, so I postponed my viewing a couple of times haha
