Eternal radiance of a mind without memories is a film that plays with time, not having full continuity but drawing scenes in different times that nevertheless create an exquisite concordance in the plot.
The plot tells the story of Clementine and Joel that may well be a romantic comedy but that little by little thanks to many visual and script details takes us into a surreal and unusual world, with scientific, psychological and emotional touches.

La trama nos cuenta la historia de Clementine y Joel que bien puede ser una comedia romántica pero que poco a poco gracias a muchos detalles visuales y de guion nos adentra en un mundo surrealista y poco común, con toques científicos, psicológicos y una carga emocional.
Clementine suddenly meets Joel on a train, his impulsive personality makes her start talking to him and they strike up a brief and awkward conversation. The interesting thing happens when Clementine decides to end the relationship by going to a company called LACUNA that offers memory erasure services. Lo interesante sucede cuando Clementine decide acabar con la relación acudiendo a una compañía llamada LACUNA que ofrece servicios de borrado de memoria. The film plays a lot with Clementine's wardrobe and hair colors to signal to the viewer the emotions and timing of the plot. This movement is very intelligent and helps people to recognize patterns in history since this, as I said, does not follow the natural scheme of a beginning-end film but rather to many times crossed, future, past and present.
This is precisely the most interesting aspect of the film and also the surreal scenes when Joel tries to find a way to preserve the memories with Clementine. Just like on a trip to wonderland, Joel asks his mind to fight erasure within a haunted, confused mind. It would have been interesting to see a bit of Clementine's memory erasure process as well.
La película juega mucho con el vestuario y los colores de cabello de Clementine para darle señas al espectador de las emociones y tiempos en que transcurre la trama. Este movimiento es muy inteligente y ayuda a las personas a reconocer patrones en la historia ya que esta como dije no sigue con el esquema natural de una película principio-fin sino que a muchos tiempos atravesados, futuros, pasados y presentes.
Este es precisamente el aspecto más interesante de la película y también las escenas surrealistas cuando Joel intenta buscar la manera de conservar los recuerdos con Clementine. Así como en un viaje al país de las maravillas Joel le pide a su mente luchar en contra del borrado dentro de una mente confusa angustiada. Hubiese sido interesante poder ver un poco del proceso de borrado de recuerdos de Clementine también.

El aspecto dramático es muy realista, las discusiones en la pareja por simples razones pueden hacer que más de uno se sienta identificado con una experiencia previa. La complejidad de las relaciones interpersonales se hace presente en esta película, las diferencias de personalidades, gustos y demás cosas no necesariamente deben afectar una relación pero si puede ser una tortura cuando las emociones no son manejadas de manera acertada lo que puede crear conflictos que destruyan a la pareja.
A pesar del borrado de recuerdos que ambos tuvieron, las emociones siguen allí. Uno de los especialistas encargados del borrado de memorias aprovecha la situación y empieza a hacer una estratagema para enamorar a esta chica, haciendo lo mismo que hacia Joel para enamorarla. Sin embargo esto no termina del todo bien porque los sentimientos de Clementine aún siguen presentes pero sin saber dónde canalizarlos. Sería como amar a una persona que aún no se conoce.
As you see, the film plays with very interesting concepts on a psychological and emotional level that had not been previously explored in the film industry, although it is true that memory erasure is something we were already used to by the release date of this film. there are many innovative things that this movie offered us.

Como ven la película juega con conceptos muy interesantes a nivel psicológico y emocional que no habían sido explorados anteriormente en la industria cinematográfica, si bien es cierto que el borrado de memoria es algo a lo que ya estábamos acostumbrados para la fecha de lanzamiento de esta película hay muchas cosas innovadoras que esta película nos ofreció.
La música también juega un rol fundamental en el desarrollo de la trama ya que la banda sonora se ejecuta de manera inteligente en determinas escenas para darle más fuerza y también señales al espectador, como se hizo con el cabello de Clementine o el vestuario.
Jim Carrey has several films that play with the mind of the viewer, such as number 23 or the Truman show, but in this achievement he reached the top, doing in my opinion one of his best works if not the best.
The chronology of events in this film is its biggest plus, the story at a dramatic level is excellent. This film could be classified as a well-developed mix between science fiction and romantic comedy. Many science fiction films have shown us that without spectacularity and with good narrative resources you can create a solid, convincing and quite successful plot.
Jim Carrey tiene varias películas que juegan con la mente del espectador, como el numero 23 o el show de Truman pero en esta logro llegar al tope, haciendo bajo mi opinión uno de sus mejores trabajos sino el mejor.
La cronología de sucesos en esta película es su mayor punto a favor, la historia a nivel dramático es excelente. Se podría catalogar a esta película como una mezcla entre ciencia ficción y comedia romántica bastante bien desarrollada. Muchas películas de ciencia ficción nos han demostrado que sin espectacularidad y con buenos recursos narrativos se puede crear una trama sólida, convincente y bastante lograda.
Como bien resaltas en tu reseña, esta película ayuda a estimular la imaginación del espectador, intentando seguir las secuencias aunque no vayan de manera lineal. Este es un juego psicológico que nos muestra que la memoria puede ser muy frágil.

Este film es una obra maestra del género, y coincido que es el mejor trabajo en la carrera de Jim Carrey a pesar de que él se destaco sobre todo en el género de comedia. Esta peli tiene no solo ciencia ficción, que es algo que me gusta mucho, sino que además tiene romance y drama muy bien escritos, y la originalidad mientras se le hace el procedimiento en su memoria con escenas que muestran perfectamente la extrañeza de los sueños fue espectacular. Una peli única y de obligado visionado para los fans del género.
Esta película refleja como los recuerdos son guardados en nuestra memoria, como influyen y como los percibimos, la manera en como le damos un significado al ser recuerdos de alguien especial aunque en otro no lo piense así. Nunca sabrás como el otro te percibe, pero si tienes el control de como influye en tu propia percepción. Buena reseña :3
