I don't usually watch or review series when they are in hype, however this is one of the few exceptions because it is not a long series and apart from the synopsis I found it interesting, anyway I did not have high expectations however I found a series that uses tension and hooking resources like few others.
The idea of squid game is not innovative, we go back to the year 2000 we find the predecessor of this entire genre that is Battle Royale, a movie that was produced long before the hunger games. What seems fascinating in this series is not the idea itself but the presentation, aesthetics and visual impact that it offers us.
Usualmente no suelo ver ni reseñar series cuando están en hype sin embargo esta es una de las pocas excepciones debido a que no es una serie larga y aparte la sinopsis me pareció interesante, de cualquier modo no tenía grandes expectativas sin embargo me encontré con una serie que utiliza recursos de tensión y enganche como pocas.
La idea del juego del calamar no es innovadora, se nos remontamos al año 2000 nos encontramos con la predecesora de todo este género que es Battle Royale, una película que se produjo mucho antes que los juegos del hambre. Lo que parece fascinante en esta serie no es la idea en si misma sino la presentación, la estética y el impacto visual que nos ofrece.

The games are all childish but with a dark cloud around that oscillates between life and death. La idea critica que nos trae esta serie es acerca del sistema capitalista extremo en que se vive en corea del sur o en Estados Unidos donde las deudas pueden acabar con la vida de muchos individuos en un parpadear de ojos. La serie intenta promover una idea transgresora hacia el sistema económico coreano pero más allá de eso nos muestra los puntos vulnerables acerca de la condición humana bajo situaciones extremas y acerca de los valores que debemos tener hacia otros seres humanos como nos los muestra claramente la serie casi al terminar.

Los juegos del calamar tiene ideas muy profundas que subyacen bajo la espectacularidad que se nos muestra en pantalla y por supuesto escenas innecesarias y ridículas que tratan de darle un leve toque de humor quizás para bajar un poco la tensión pero sin duda alguna es una serie que atrapa al espectador rápidamente debido a un guion que pese a no ser del todo original jugó con una idea prestablecida dándole un giro dramático, terrorífico e incluso transgresor.

La serie presenta muchas curiosidades que un buen ojo podrá captar, no es mi deber relatar estas ya que presentaría un enorme spoiler arruinándoles la serie a las personas que aún no la hayan visto.

Con todo esto quiero decir que considero a esta serie muy bien producida con una mezcla entre espectáculo visual terrorífico con un drama subyacente bastante interesante aunado con ideas que la serie intenta transmitir pero que pocos prestan atención. El mensaje del Juego del calamar no es sutil y se nos presenta de manera clara y concisa, es una crítica hacia el sistema que no se puede objetar.
Tengo muy poco que criticarle de manera negativa a esta serie, más que errores en ciertos detalles a nivel visual, ciertas escenas fuera de lugar y bastante exageradas pero de resto pese a que no es una idea nada original se nos presenta en un empaque fresco y muy adictivo y eso es lo que una buena serie debe buscar sin rellenos, ni escenas intrascendentales. Esta es una serie cruda, emotiva en donde hay pocos espacios para relajarse lo cual es precisamente lo que atrapa de manera rápida y brutal, no dejando al espectador respirar y tratando de unir piezas para ganar un desafío que no se limita a los personajes en la pantalla sino también a nosotros como espectadores.

Bastante buena la serie, de lo mejor que he visto últimamente y es completamente merecido la atención y popularidad que se ha ganado. A mí también me gusto mucho una llamada Alice in Borderland que tiene cierto parecido a esta.
