Esta película cuenta la historia de McKenzie De Ridder (“Max”), una agente del FBI que cae en depresión por la pérdida de su madre y la obligan a ausentarse de su puesto de trabajo y tomarse un tiempo para recuperarse. Decide entonces volver a un alejado pueblo que solía visitar con su madre, y allí conoce a un pequeño niño llamado Freddie que padece la anemia de Fanconi, una enfermedad genética con pronóstico de vida muy corto. Freddie es un niño especial, pero no por su enfermedad, sino por la capacidad que tiene de conectar con las personas y hacerles ver las cosas desde una perspectiva diferente, espiritual y profunda. Desde el primer momento, Freddie siente una gran afinidad con Max y a pesar de la coraza que mantiene ella al principio, no puede evitar ceder y conmoverse por el pequeño. Pero, Max no es la única que mantiene una coraza, Samantha (“Sam”) , la madre de Freddie, también se muestra antipática y cautelosa al conocer a Max, aunque el destino y la insistencia de Freddie en compartir con Max, logra entre ellas un acercamiento, que las lleva a algo más que una amistad. Sin embargo, en esta historia no faltan los secretos, y los que existen alrededor de Vivienne Pinchot causan grandes problemas y sufrimiento a todos los involucrados. El personaje de Vivienne se vincula directamente con Samantha, pero también tiene un pasado con Max, a quien cree conocer y no desea que esté cerca de Sam.
Es una película muy conmovedora, más allá del tema de la pareja homosexual, muestra a una madre lidiando con la posibilidad de perder a su hijo en cualquier momento por causa de su enfermedad, además de los retos diarios que deben enfrentar para que Freddie tenga la mejor calidad de vida que sea posible.
El título de la película: "More Beautiful For Having Been Broken" ("Más bello por haber estado roto"), está inspirado en la técnica japonesa “Kintsukuroi”, mediante la cual se repara la cerámica rota utilizando oro. Mostrándonos así, que las personas al igual que las piezas,tras superar las adversidades, pueden resultar más bellas y fuertes después de haber estado rotas.

Es una actriz australiana que ha participado en varios musicales, series y películas. Interpretó anteriormente a una mujer lesbiana en una serie llamada Home and Away. Aunque duro poco tiempo su personaje en dicha serie, fue muy bien recibida su interpretación.
Kayla Radomski - Samantha (“Sam”)
Nació en Aurora (Colorado) y comenzó en el mundo de la danza y la actuación cuando tenía solo 2 años de edad. Llego a formar parte del equipo de baile de artistas como Britney Spears y Jennifer López, así como participar en diversos programas de televisión; muchos de ellos relacionados con el baile y la música.

La trama me gusta y si es un film independiente mejor. La voy a buscar para verla, parece que tiene dos temas importantes en su historia, la relación entra las dos mujeres y la enfermedad del niño. Voy a buscar mas información de la directora y las actrices.

En estos día estaba pensando que no me he encontrado ninguna comunidad glbtq+ aquí en Hive, no sé si es que no he sabido buscar, no he tenido suerte o es un grandísimo error de no sé quién que no exista un espacio para visibilizar a esta comunidad que tanto ha hecho por el avance de los derechos sociales.

Lamentablemente no existe una comunidad dedicada específicamente a las personas LGBT, también me he preguntado el por que?... creo que quizás las personas LGBT de Hive no quieren ser identificad@s por su identidad de genero u orientación sexual o definidas en base a eso. Si no que prefieren mostrar su talento al escribir o dibujar o cantar, etc. O al menos es la conclusion a la que he llegado. Quizás hay cierto temor a que dicha comunidad no reciba el apoyo deseado. Incluso veo pocos Hiver escribir sobre cosas que pueden ser de interés para la comunidad LGBT. Pero en fin, ojala se animen a crear algún espacio.. Sin duda me uniría y me entusiasmaría la idea de apoyarnos entre nosotr@s. Me he sentido tentada a buscar crear ese espacio... en cierto modo siento que lo estoy haciendo. Un abrazo!
