The movie Super Mario Bros. was surprisingly good for a video game movie. It starts in Brooklyn and features Mario and Luigi, two plumbers who dream of making a living in the competitive business of pipe repair. In general the movie does a good job of establishing its world and there are some interesting references to the games from the beginning, one of my favorite scenes is when they try to fix a faucet and everything fails because of a grumpy dog. I thought the movie was super funny and the animation is great too, everything seems very detailed and realistic or so it would seem if Mario and Luigi weren't straight out of a video game. The two plumbers come across this mystical pipe that, by the way, I have absolutely no idea how it got there or why it is there, and suddenly it disappears and the two characters are dragged off to the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario ends up in a fairytale world where all kinds of mushrooms can talk and Luigi is kidnapped by the evil Bowser.

La película me pareció super divertida y animación también es genial, todo parece muy detallado y realista o eso parecería si Mario y Luigi no estuvieran directamente sacados de un videojuego. Los dos fontaneros se encuentran con esta tubería mística que por cierto no tengo la menor idea de cómo llegó allí o por qué está allí y de repente desaparece y los dos personajes son arrastrados al Reino Champiñón. Mario acaba en un mundo de cuento de hadas donde todo tipo de setas pueden hablar y Luigi es secuestrado por el malvado Bowser.

In my opinion I really enjoyed this movie, Mushroom Kingdom looks incredible, it's so bright and so full of color that everything stands out from the screen and the way they've included the game mechanics is quite clever, one of the episodes is when Mario is starting to discover how to get around the Kingdom it's like watching the series for the first time. Although I must admit that I found the plot too simple, it's the typical hero's journey in which Mario receives a lesson in self-confidence and achieves his goal and sometimes I felt that the sections in which basically Mario games are reproduced were quite long and didn't contribute anything to the story, those who are not fans of these games may get a little lost in the story and I didn't like the change in Mario's voice at all, even so I see that at least they have tried to develop the characters a little more, there is much more chemistry between Mario and Luigi than in any game, Peach is a much more complex character than she has ever been in the game and Bowser is a perfect mix of threatening and pathetic which is easily seen when he stalks Peach.

Está película fue un éxito en cuanto a taquilla y leí varias reseñas y en su mayoría muy positivas. Debo decir que aún no la he visto, si que he tenía la curiosidad Pero me he inclinado por otras películas y al final se me pasó por alto. Veré si la veo en estos días.
