I already said it, but I will say it again, this series is a delight as they haven't made them for a long time, of the ones I remember, which are not many, only Castlevania manages to surpass this series, and for obvious reasons like the budget, and the duration, which makes that there is a greater development in the history of the people, as well as more characters to know and with whom to get to feel many things, I am not here to compare them, because both series are perfect in their own styles and terms, besides, there is no need to compare them, both can be enjoyed perfectly without infringing on the existence of the other, or others.

The whole plot or conflict of the movie is the fact that Jean decided that, in order to reach his biggest goal of obtaining the most powerful fragrance, and for that he had to kill 13 girls who had a very particular smell that when mixed together created a feeling of peace in people and they cheered for him. In short, he had a life goal, a reason to move his life, which is great to seek to be decisive, work hard and accomplish what you want, but he took it to a level where he did not care if to get there he had to harm someone else, as long as he could get his goal he could take anyone in the middle and that is where this desire or goal becomes unhealthy and an obsession.

The film is full of movie references, which is something characteristic of Tarantino, but in this film he surpasses himself, since the film is precisely about cinema and he takes advantage of that to show what he loves most about this art, he uses even the smallest element of the script to touch on themes referring to other movies, actors, directors, that he admires, as well as the ones he himself made and directed.

Certainly, the series deals with more topics other than the good old crime solving that was discussed through this review. Back to the 80's, one of the reasons why Kwang-ho continued his incessant search for the killer, even though the police couldn't find any trace of the killer's identity, was his empathy towards the victims' families, after having closely followed the suffering of those who had lost their loved ones – there were a man and his little son, in particular, whose wife was one of the killer's victims, to whom Kwang-ho promised he'd arrest the culprit at any costs. Tunnel provides deep reflections concerning the human aspect of the crime solving world – is catching the criminal the main objective? How about the bereaved families, do they only wish to see the criminal being punished in court? Is this enough for them? Does this heal the pain of a loss? – after all, the main characters could also relate to this kind of pain since they knew, more than anyone, how it was like to lose someone close.

This tragicomedy has several emotionally charged moments but I think the most decisive one is when the reality of Kotaro's parents is revealed, it's a scene I will never in my life forget, so full of feelings it's like a slap in the face of reality and hopes.
