Now, in the category of Best Actress my heart is divided in multiple parts. In my opinion, Karla Sofia Gascon is the weakest candidate for this award and I think she's already making history with her nomination because Nicole Kidman for Babygirl and Tilda Swinton for The Room Next Door should have been in this category; so to have made it to this list of five is already a triumph for Gascon. From there on it seems super complicated to me. Cynthia Erivo dazzled me as Elphaba in Wicked. I've always thought that playing a role in a musical is a bit more difficult because you have to act, convey emotions, dance, sing... it's a demonstration of enormous talent and that's what Erivo does on this film. On the other side of the spectrum, in a dramatic story, Fernanda Torres as Eunice Paiva in Ainda Estou Aqui, has also left us a performance of anthology, very strong and emotionally charged. She comes to be, this year, what Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall) was in last year's awards. But the biggest doubt in my heart is this: who to choose between Mikey Madison and Demi Moore? What weighs more: Moore's experience and commitment in a difficult role that could close a great career with an Oscar, or Ani's freshness and irreverence, her wildness and her way of relating to the world through violence? It has been more than ten years since a twenty-something Jennifer Lawrence took the golden statuette and since then the Academy has preferred more experienced actresses like Frances McDormand, Michelle Yeoh and Olivia Colman, will there be a change this year in favor of Mikey Madison.

Inasmuch as this film somehow stretches believability, in the sense that I don’t think anyone would be willing to risk their lives and important meetings like Jaq and Shane did just to catch up with an abductor who was armed. They would have just played their part by reporting the car to the police and went about their business while praying for the child’s family.

The soundtrack is great, it's full of good vibes and it's very international, that surprised me because usually Brazilians have two types of soundtracks, national and international, the national one always has songs in Portuguese and the international one has songs in Spanish or English, but the soundtrack of this soap opera is very varied, it has songs in Portuguese and English, with hits like Hot Chocolate/You Sexy Thing.

This film from the beginning begins with lots of action, the whole plot happens around and inside a hospital called "Mercy", where a series of criminal events occur, for which a doctor will have to come to their defense, as it is the only one qualified by his military record in his past life to end the evil root, as the film develops because the Irish mafia assaults the hospital, because they had there a member of the gang wounded and also take many people hostage, and after all this develops the story of this film.

My opinion of the film is quite positive, it is not my genre, I have not even had the joy of watching the series that gave rise to it, something that would be worth remedying, so I will work based on that for a better opinion of the character. So, Luther: Nightfall is a film that I would definitely recommend for entertainment, with a few somewhat disturbing scenes thrown in for good measure, but very little. It may not be one of British Idris Elba's best performances, but I could say that it convinced me, so, as a slogan of a Cuban TV program called "Passage to the unknown" says: draw your own conclusions. Until another date with the cinema.
