In this part of my blog I want to talk about the shark effects in the movie. Even though the movie was released in 1999, I still think the shark effects are really excellent. Some people on some websites on the internet were saying that the digital effects in this movie about sharks were very bad, but I disagree. I think they're really great digital effects for 1999. Normally I wouldn't expect such good digital effects because how advanced could camera and imaging technology be at that time?

I am practical and I do not see moral or religious controversy in the events that involve the character, the real person with respect to the theme Anthropophagy that is inevitable to avoid it, that's why I admire him, because he being in the frozen hell, his position remained almost indomitable, that's when friends are the engine that allows us to continue because they can convince us to do the right thing even if it is against our ideal but what has to be done, has to be done.

The presence of the Suzhou River, the urban and night landscapes, the moving camera that sometimes reminds us of some of Wong Kar Wai's works and a story full of many emotions, make this film a great story. I don't know much Chinese cinema (beyond Zhang Yimou), but among all the Asian cinema I've seen, Suzhou River is a great demonstration of personal narrative and optimization of resources. Nothing is missing, nor is there anything left over, from this story of just over eighty minutes that perhaps uses the voice of the narrator in off-screen a little more than I usually tolerate in the cinema, but I think it works well here, especially all because it's combined with the use of the camera and not only does it make sense to me but it makes me feel that there was no other way to tell this story than with that narration, those close-ups of Meimei's face, those urban shots in motion and those two endings full of drama but also poetry. I still prefer the works of Wong Kar Wai, of course, but if you haven't seen much Chinese cinema or want to see some Asian cinema that is different from Korean stories or Japanese productions, many of which have a larger budget, I recommend this one little gem that is available on MUBI and although I had not heard anything about it or Lou Ye, maybe some of you have, have you seen this movie? what did you think? Talking a little bit about catastrophe cinema, I really came to the conclusion that this film has nothing to envy to American productions. The film has a series of interesting shots, in addition to some very good special effects, demonstrating that they have excellent productions in the different elements that make up a film. It is also important to mention that their perspective on catastrophe cinema (at least in this film) approaches it in a way that invites reflection on certain things. I found this twist more interesting than many other films of the same genre.

The film is shown in a very peculiar way and with a soundtrack that makes you stay glued to your seat for not knowing what is going to happen next. Elizabeth begins her investigation process, she starts talking a little bit with Gracie as she is the main voice of this story, she tells her that she never saw any problem with having a relationship with Joe even though this relationship started when he was in seventh grade and she was 36 years old, This turned out to be quite shady for Elizabeth but she continued her investigation while realizing that the town looked down on this couple, especially why it is not possible for a thirteen year old, which was the age Joe was when he met Gracie, and that she thought it was normal to have a relationship with him because love was born and according to her as long as they both love each other it does not matter what others say.

On this occasion I want to talk but not much about a period film when back in the 18th century England was at war with France and in this context a series of events happen that give life to this film. A film that shows the dirty and manipulation of the main actresses with a touch of mischief and evil.

First of all, I must admit that I did not have much faith in Timothée Chalamet for this role, since it is not easy to meet the expectations of the successful character played by Johnny Deep in Tim Burton's version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. However, this prequel is more related to the first version of that one. I also think the role suited him very well, I liked this youthful Wonka full of dreams and with a hint of childish mischief.

The actors were subjected to weight loss controlled by health professionals for the scenes where they had a considerable amount of time lost in the mountains, plus the sunburns looked quite realistic, the same with the dryness of their lips, it helps a lot with the setting, contrary to other adaptations whose protagonists look like they went on a picnic in the snowy mountains, you may not want to make your actors lose weight to dangerous weights, but at least you can put makeup on them to make them look emaciated.

I found the film to be quite beautiful as there are shots where one can see the beauty of the landscapes and the interactions between each of the characters involved. I found it quite interesting that Brady himself plays his own character, thus giving an even more authentic touch to the film. Also, it is a film that shows us how far we are willing to go for our passions or for what we love, and the different decisions that can influence these. Mind you, the film slowly builds up to take us deeper into Brady's life and see the development that Brady has as the film progresses. Adding to this, broader themes such as the meaning of bravery in the rodeo arena are addressed. If you like overcoming movies "The Horseman" is a movie you should see.

I have liked the song "We Are The World" from a very early age and finding this documentary this afternoon when I was looking for what to watch on Netflix was surprising and very good for me since I had always been curious about how this iconic song was made. . I really like that Lionel Richie, Dionne Warwick, Cyndi Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, among others, appear in the documentary making comments on the song, which I thought gave a great touch of nostalgia to the documentary and I loved seeing them because they are artists that I liked a lot for as long as I can remember and hearing them talk about their memories of the song was very emotional for me.

Now, this is all going normal and wasn't something that caught my attention completely, until I came across the subplots. Something I didn't understand was the use of the cross, when it is part of the Catholic religion, nor that God was present in the series and in that Gu-Won recognizes him as his boss. I must congratulate the scriptwriters, because this subplot is an important part of everything that happens and it is perfectly fitted with everything that happens: the Catholic religion plays an important role, faith, forgiveness, whether you go to heaven or hell according to your actions, the conversations between God and the devil (Gu-Won). Something I have to emphasize is that they make it very clear that human beings have free will and everyone makes their decisions on a Russian roulette. There is God and the devil, but the human being is the one who chooses which path to follow.
