Hello friends of this wonderful community, today I bring you my impressions of a movie I saw this weekend, I didn't know anything about it and I hadn't read any comments, I only saw it because I love its protagonist, Chris Pine, I haven't seen it since I work on the film, Wonder Woman 1984, so seeing who stars in this movie made me decide to watch it. It is directed by Tarik Saleh, this film shows us in a crude way how soldiers are often treated who, after fulfilling the country in constant missions, are discarded without any type of economic or psychological help.
Hola amigos de esta maravillosa comunidad, hoy les traigo mis impresiones de una película que vi este fin de semana, no sabía nada de ella y ni había leído ningún comentario, solo la vi porque su protagonista me encanta, Chris Pine, no lo veía desde que trabajo en la cinta, Wonder Woman 1984, así que ver que protagoniza esta película me decidió a verla. Esta dirigida por Tarik Saleh, está cinta nos muestra de manera cruda como son tratados muchas veces los soldados que luego de cumplir con el país en contantes misiones son desechados sin ningún tipo de ayuda económica o psicológica.
The film is not only a military action thriller but also a subtle criticism of the government and institutions for the way they treat men and women who, after serving their country for years, are discharged without considering their conditions and the years they served. Although it doesn't go into depth, it touches on the way the main character, Special Forces Sergeant James Harper (Chris), feels. James, after serving for years as a Ranger and having injured his knee, begins to self-medicate to continue doing his job, but when his superiors find out about him, they give him an honorable discharge, but without a pension or medical insurance.
La película no solo es un thriller de militar de acción sino también una sutil critica al gobierno e instituciones por la manera en que tratan a los hombres y mujeres que luego de servir a su país por años, son dados de baja sin considerar sus condiciones y los años que sirvieron. Aunque no aborda el tema a profundidad, lo toca en la manera de como se siente el personaje principal, el sargento de las fuerzas especiales James Harper (Chris). James luego de servir por años como Ranger y haberse lesionado la rodilla, comienza a automedicarse para seguir cumpliendo con el trabajo, pero cuando sus superiores se enteran le dan la baja honrosa, pero sin pensión, ni seguridad médica.
James feels betrayed by his country, lost and overwhelmed by his economic situation. Despite feeling this way, a part of him refuses to be a mercenary, but because of his military history in the private sector is where he can get a well-paid job to take care of his family. This dilemma and being against the wall makes him look for his friend Mike (Ben Foster), who is in the private sector, working for a secret organization that works for the government. The possibility of continuing to serve the country privately makes James accept. In his new job, a series of situations take place that will make James fight for his life and to return to his country.
James se siente traicionado por su país, perdido y agobiado por su situación económica. A pesar de sentirse así, una parte de él se niega hacer mercenario, pero por su historial militar en el sector privado es donde puede conseguir trabajo bien remunerado para cuidar a su familia. Esa disyuntiva y el estar contra la pared lo hace buscar a su amigo Mike (Ben Foster), quien se encuentra en el sector privado, trabajando para una organización secreta que trabaja para el gobierno. La posibilidad de seguir sirviendo al país de manera privada hace que James acepte. En su nuevo trabajo pasan una serie de situaciones que harán que James luche por su vida y por regresar a su país.
This film has a solid cast such as: Gillian Jacobs, Sander Thomas, Kiefer Sutherland, Eddie Marsan, JD Pardo, Florian Munteanu, Tait Fletcher, Fares Fares, Nina Hoss, Amira Casar, Alexej Manvelov and others. Which make the story believable despite some inconsistencies. The movie is entertaining, but it lacks to be memorable. It has good action scenes, but not spectacular. It touches on the camaraderie and friendship between soldiers, but also on feeling disappointed and deceived when they are not sincere and open, for fulfilling the mission.
Esta cinta cuenta con un reparto solido como: Gillian Jacobs, Sander Thomas, Kiefer Sutherland, Eddie Marsan, JD Pardo, Florian Munteanu, Tait Fletcher, Fares Fares, Nina Hoss, Amira Casar, Alexej Manvelov y otros. Que hacen que la historia sea creíble a pesar de algunas inconsistencias. La película es entretenida, pero le falto para ser memorable. Tiene escenas de acción buenas, pero no espectaculares. Toca la camarería y la amistad entre soldados, pero también el sentirse defraudados y engañados cuando no son sinceros y abiertos, por cumplir con la misión.
I would have liked to see a better role in the character of Kiefer Sutherland, I think that very little came out in the film and one of the great actors who should have taken more advantage of was wasted. Just like the family dynamics of James and his wife Brianne (Gillian), they are few. They are one of the things that in my opinion were not used to make the film stand out. The story is somewhat predictable but not boring for that, it is a film that keeps you attentive for some twists and the solid performance of its cast. Perhaps at first it is a bit slow but then the rhythm improves and maintains the interest to know what happens.
Me hubiese gustado ver un mejor papel en el personaje de Kiefer Sutherland, creo que salió muy poco en la cinta y se desperdicio a uno de los grandes actores que se debió aprovechar más. Así como la dinámica de la familia de James y de su esposa Brianne (Gillian), son pocas. Son de las cosas que a mi parecer no se aprovecharon para hacer resaltar la película. La historia es algo predecible pero no por ello aburrida, es una cinta que te mantienen atento por algunos giros y la sólida actuación de su elenco. Quizás al principio es algo lenta pero luego el ritmo mejora y mantiene el interés por saber lo que ocurre.
To have a good time, it is the ideal film, which entertains you, but does not go into depth with the issues that it subtly leaves with respect to the treatment of war veterans. However, it has points for and against. I expected the cast to be better, yes, but it is what it is, a tape to distract you for 103 minutes, on a quiet weekend and without much to do or choose from. So I hope I don't disappoint you, or discourage you from seeing it, on the contrary, I hope you do and give me your opinion.
Para pasar un rato agradable es la cinta ideal, que te entretiene, pero que no toca a fondo los temas que sutilmente deja con respecto al el trato de los veteranos de guerra. Sin embargo, tiene puntos a su favor y en contra. Esperaba que por el elenco fuera mejor, sí, pero es lo que es, una cinta para distraerte 103 minutos, en un fin de semana tranquilo y sin mucho que hacer o elegir. Así que espero no decepcionarte, ni desanimarte para que no la veas, al contrario, espero lo hagas y me des tú opinión.
Definitivamente una película interesante, tiene varias características que me interesan, incluso la sutil crítica que menciona en su trama. Por su opinión parece una película entretenida pero que se olvidará al pasar de los días.

Una lástima el resultado general de esta película, algo salvada por la actuación de Chris Pine, pero aún así vacía. Creo que se quedaron cortos al matizar el mensaje de su premisa, ese contraste americano que a veces es complejo de transmitir. Excelente análisis. Comparto tu opinión.
