Growing up, movies have always been my means of escape from the real world for as long as I remember and even as an adult, I must say that the academy awards season besides being my second most fond time of the year after Christmas, it is also a period in the year that exposes me to some truly amazing cinematic moments and cultures as portrayed in films.
The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars is the most recognised award for artistic excellence in the film industry presented annually to outstanding performances by the Academy of Motion Picture Art and Science as assessed by the Academy's voting members. A select members of about 9300 individuals that I would love more than anything to be a part of.
The Academy Awards essentially highlight the best work in motion pictures in the calendar year since 1929 but has recently been rightfully chastised for lacking diversity in my opinion. This is mainly due to its lack of representation of the different cultures of the world and it being seemingly awarded to only a particular group constantly.
These days, many concerns have arisen with regards to the voting process of the Academy Awards with claims that the voting members are probably geriatric and out of touch which informs their voting. This tends to see movies that viewers would normally consider as boring becoming winners.
These concerns has seen the the Academy initiated "historic" changes in membership by the year 2020 to ensure that the most recognisd film award isn't constantly seen as bias but as a complete representation of what diversity and variety is in films.
Personally, I usually for some reason have enjoyed many of the movies nominated for Oscar awards in times past and this year wouldn't be any different.
The 94th Academy Awards is slated to hold on the 27th of March 2022 and as such, I will be making an effort to review most of the movies nominated as well as some of the categories of the awards like Actor and Actress in leading role amongst many others.
