Review : Manikarnika - A story of Female Freedom Fighter #TrueStory

in Movies & TV Shows4 years ago

Hello Movie Lovers

Let me tell you a real story!

It was the time when the Mughal sultanate was on the verge of its decline and the era of British rule was been established. Although times did not change for the residents of Bharatvarsha (now accumulatively major parts of present India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mayanmar). The era of being not only enslaved but also tortured. It's actually injustice that the tortures of Hitler, Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin are so much outspoken when the British rule was not any less.

Yes, those were old times, but it's important to shed some light on the events so that we understand the intensity and desperation of the Revolutionary Freedom Movement that went for a long time in Bharatvarsha to free their Motherland(Bharat Mata) from the hands of foreign ruthless invaders.

At present when the whole world is diligently working on the rights of women to be as equal as men, India is also not far behind. But India is portrait as if it was always an orthodox thinkers place where only casteism and women thrashing has been done even before the invasions.

The ignorant people don't know that before the invasions a female was not respected any less than a male, the difference is only that it was a very normal scenario, it was not a big deal which is prevailed to be nowadays.

In the Indus Valley Civilization, evidence shows worship of Mother Goddess, which is still prevalent in India even after more than 4500 years.

During Rig Vedic Period it is believed the positions of women in society was honoured. "Streedhan" was a concept of giving jewellery, clothes, utensils etc as an act of love and affection of a father to the daughter during her marriage(suitable age of which was considered to be over 16 years) and her husband did not have any right on this wealth, it was solely her. But as time went by and this system deteriorated and took the face of "dowry".

The education of a girl was considered a vital requirement for marriage. In Kshatriya society, "Swayamvara" were been organised where the women selected their own consorts. That time also it was patriarchal society only.!! But the women were not down looked. Even the marriage of a widow was not a very big deal which it became in the medieval period and came to be known as Sati.

So, this movie shows the face of Feminism that all the true Feminists over the world are striving for. A queen who is considered to be involved in household chores, fightbacks the Britishers fiercely after her husband was killed through conspiracy.

The Movie Poster

It's my belief, as the old saying goes Behind every successful man there is a woman, it is also Vice versa. Behind every successful woman there is a man - be it a father, son, husband, boyfriend or a friend.

Manikarnika, was also born to a proud father of a daughter, who did not raise his girl child any less than a boy. And she also had a very supportive husband who would sword fight with her, which was considered to be a man's hobby/toil.

The Real Life Jhansi Ki Rani

She was not just a queen who fought the British army but she is still the Guiding Star for women empowerment, for the reason that it was the first time in the history of Bharatvarsha she trained every single woman of Jhansi and they fought shoulder to shoulder with men.

Although they had lost the war against Britishers, it gave enough amount of fuel to the fire of freedom movement that it got stronger day by day. But till her last breath also she did not bow her head in front of any Britisher.

General Hugh Rose wrote in his book "Sir Hugh Rose and The Central Indian Campaign 1858", "Rani Laxmi Bai had been the most dangerous of all Rebel leaders, Best and Bravest of all, only man among mutineers"
