I love the large, prideful state that is Texas. So when I found a show that took place there, I just had to check it out!
What is Young Sheldon, anyway?
Young Sheldon is a spin-off of a show named The Big Bang Theory. This story focuses on a younger version of Sheldon Cooper, growing up as a child prodigy in a small town in eastern Texas. The show goes into the antics of him and his family as they try to find a way to deal with Sheldon’s abilities while managing their own hectic lives.
It’s funny, sweet, and kinda like a bag of chips. You say you’ll watch just one episode…but end up watching much more in one sitting.
What I liked
I personally loved the character development in this series. Not just for Sheldon, but also for his siblings, his parents and their quirky little community. Everyone has a different set of strengths, falts, and reasons for why they are who they are. It’s also sweet to see that despite the bickering and differences, the Cooper family loves each other deeply and will come through when it’s most important…they just have their own ways of doing that.
I also enjoyed the representation of Texas. I felt the culture, from weather to food was spot on and not exaggerated. I knew where a lot of the towns they talked about were, and it was nice to see that in a show for once.
What I Didn't
Being honest, I didn’t much like Sheldon, as I found him to be unlikable at times. He was often selfish, rude, and arrogant to the point where it was hard to root for him in some episodes. Though there are moments where he shines, he was often a thorn in the side of some interesting plots.
My favorite character is a tie between Missy and Georgie-Sheldon’s twin sister and older brother!
Missy is an interesting sister who doesn’t mind getting into trouble to get what she wants, but deep down she’s an empath who cares about her family and always wants to help.
Georgie was simple-minded in a good way, as he never took things too seriously and pulled his own weight when need be.
Overall Young Sheldon is a humorous and engrossing series that will leave you feeling happier than you did before you watched it. I recommend this show to anyone who likes family dramas or having a good laugh.

Watching young Sheldon made me realize in a greater detail how important emotional intelligence is.
We live in a society that rewards IQ. People who have exceptional maths, reasoning, and memory skills seem to be celebrated.
They are celebrated for something that they did nothing to achieve...
Meanwhile, EQ is a lot more versatile and involves a lot more work, but is hardly mentioned in most climes.
