It's no secret to anyone that in recent years, the highest-grossing and anticipated movies are from the majority's favorite genre: action. In my life I have seen many action movies, many very good, others very bad, some with very lying special effects and others so real that you can almost feel the adrenaline that the characters are experiencing. When looking for an action movie, you want to see at least one leading man who knows, at a minimum, martial arts or has excellent training in handling weapons of all kinds, hand-to-hand combat, anti-terrorist and anti-alien invasion maneuvers, superhuman endurance, and infinite bullets. Many prefer war films, as many superhero films, others that have a police or detective background; Personally, I like action movies that have a backstory that not only grabs me with the spectacular punches, gunshots, and kills, but also makes me think and move.
I prefer two trilogies (one of which will soon have a fourth installment): John Wick and Taken, starring Keanu Reeves and Liam Neeson, respectively. But in the first place of my favorite action movies, there is one with airs similar to those previously mentioned, but this one only has two installments and they are starring one of my favorite actors given their versatility and mastery when it comes to interpreting different roles: Denzel Washington in The Equalizer and The Equalizer 2. Despite enjoying Neeson's films for hours and discovering in John Wick a jewel of current cinema, The Equalizer is number 1 on my list of honor. Why? I'll tell you about it, keep reading.

History
Robert McCall (played by Denzel Washington) was a member of the CIA and the American Special Ops, who on a mission faked his death to detach himself from the entire environment that surrounded him that was hurting him both physically and psychologically. A very close friend of Robert's, Susan Plummer (whom we meet with her husband in the first film), is murdered and McCall, thirsty for revenge, finds out through his own efforts and vows to punish whoever killed her already. who ordered his assassination. In this interim, a young neighbor named Miles Whittaker, Robert's new friend and protégé (although he says he doesn't care, he offers him a job painting a mural for the building where they live to help him unleash his artistic streak) decides to join a gang to show his courage and get money to help out at home, since his older brother, a boxing prospect, had justly been killed by a gang and blinded his promising future. This similarity between Miles and Ralphie seemed very interesting to me, since two characters from different movies who want to improve their income, one on the right path and the other on the "wrong" path (I put it in quotes because he thought it was the best ), were the ones that generated in Robert a greater attachment and desire to help. Two fantastic films full of action and moving stories that are very close to reality, in which the actors do a wonderful job and the entire audiovisual section gives them an incredible bonus.

What did I think of the movies?
First of all, The Equalizer is a very good movie. There is plenty of action, we see hand-to-hand fights, shootouts with all kinds of long and short weapons, merciless murders very much in the style of movies like John Wick, where Robert McCall murders a group of four Russians with what he finds in the room, because he didn't need a gun to kill someone, just a crystal skull was enough. Not only is the action we see good, but there are moments of reflection, of calm, when we can finally see deep into the emotions of the characters and discover why they are and how they came to be who they are at that moment. They also touch on issues that in that year, 2014, and even today represent very serious crimes that are committed as if it were the most normal thing in the world: white slavery. Here it is shown how a blow is dealt to the foundations of those who promote this clandestine trade of young women of different nationalities, who take advantage of their poverty to buy them or steal them from their relatives and take them to first world countries to be rented as prostitutes, under the promise that the more clients they get and the more money they make for you, the faster they'll drop you. Some are even enticed when they grow up to be part of this network by promising them a foreign nationality, a new start or money that they never get to see because by squeezing every last penny out of their bodies, they kill them to replace them with a younger one and " fresh".
The Equalizer 2 shows us an older Robert, but as deadly as ever. After the events of the first installment, McCall wants tranquility even more, but this peace that he had begun to achieve is disturbed again by terrible news. Here we see a larger spread of action, but more planned action, not mindless killing spree. Not only is Robert deadly, he's highly intelligent and a seasoned strategist, knowing when to use brute force and when to use more of his brains to lay traps and take down his enemies. His eagerness to help those in need without expecting anything in return is a very good lesson for the public, apply the popular "Do good without looking at who" and all good things will come to us when we least expect them. The Equalizer 2 also touches on themes such as betrayal and revenge, as well as loyalty and love for our closest friends.

Why are my favorite action movies?
I am in favor of action movies having to be, above all, realistic and with a deep story so that they make a space in the hearts of the spectators. There are examples of franchises that have mutated, for example, Fast and Furious, which started as a movie about street racing, family and loyalty, and now they are all secret agents of the American government who have even gone into space in a modified car. However, movies with John Wick, Taken and The Equalizer are totally believable because we are talking about professional killers in Wick's case and ex-military officers with lifelong training who murder people showing off everything they have learned throughout their careers. missions. Murder people with a pencil? Of course it is, it is very possible. With a book? Also, just paste where it is and that's it. These people kill so easily that it seems that they are dancing, enjoying what they do and always hitting the target.
Robert has a big heart, he does not kill for pleasure, for pleasure or for personal reasons, when he has to kill he does it to protect people from the abuse of power by many, or to free people from a destiny worse than death. In the case of the first film, he gets involved in a war against the Russian mafia to protect Teri, whose real name is Alina, since when he tries to protect her once, they beat her relentlessly until she is hospitalized in a very bad way. I would like to highlight certain action scenes from the movies, which made it my favorite action movies. In the first movie, the scene in the operating room of Slavi, the Russian boss in Boston, where Robert comes in to negotiate Teri's removal from his catalog of prostitutes after she was beaten up. I love how methodical Robert is, that as soon as he enters the room he picks up everything around him: how many men are there, are they armed and what weapon are they carrying, what can serve as a potential weapon, what strategy can he use to be more efficient... And how it times the action, ufff, spectacular. In this same movie, now ending, everything that happens inside the Home Mart is truly crazy. Robert's tactical deployment was so precise that they almost failed to hit him, despite having a huge advantage in numbers, weaponry, and ammunition. I will not tell you more to avoid spoilers, and less about the end of the movie.
In the second installment, Robert tries not to be as aggressive as in the first, but the provocations are so many that he can't help but succumb to them. Here, the end is crazy. After the hunt that they mount and his warnings of not wanting to take action against those who are behind him, since he only wants to execute Susan's murderer and whoever gave the order, see how he uses what surrounds him, again, his favor to hide and surprise attack your adversaries who again outnumber you and weaponry is great. Once again it is shown that there are times when the strongest muscle is the brain (even though it is not a muscle lol).

Final comments
All the casting, direction and production are merged in two great films of the genre that we celebrate today, action. Denzel, one of my favorite actors in the genre, shows how great he is at taking on big challenges, since it's not easy to characterize a character as deep as Robert McCall. Chloë Grace Moretz, despite appearing to the contrary, plays a fundamental character, since her appearance is what triggers Robert's need to rescue her from the sharp clutches of the Russian mafia in Boston. She does not want such a young woman to suffer more at the hands of those who see her as a commodity, as an object of exchanging sex for money, money that she cannot handle at will because everything collected is given to the leader of the mafia. Ralphie and Miles, played by Johnny Skourtis and Ashton Sanders, respectively, act very well the discomfort they feel at not having enough money to have a comfortable life, and show that they are willing to do what it takes to obtain it and provide more comfort to their relatives. . The latter is a universal feeling, we all want to work and get a good remuneration for it, in order to provide a better quality of life for our loved ones and for ourselves.
The unbreakable friendship between Susan and Robert is iconic in this saga, as they share many things in common even with Susan's husband, another great friend of Robert. These two films are excellent and if you haven't seen them, I recommend them from the bottom of my heart, because you will be very entertained but you will also enjoy a very interesting story.

No es un secreto para nadie que en los últimos años, las películas más taquilleras y esperadas son del género favorito de la mayoría: acción. En mi vida he visto muchísimas películas de acción, muchas muy buenas, otras muy malas, algunas con efectos especiales muy mentirosos y otras tan reales que casi se puede sentir en carne propia la adrenalina que están experimentando los personajes. Cuando uno busca una película de acción, desea ver al menos un protagonista que sepa, como mínimo, artes marciales o tenga un entrenamiento excelente en manejo de armas de todo tipo, combate cuerpo a cuerpo, maniobras antiterroristas y antiinvasión alienígena, resistencia súper humana y balas infinitas. Muchos prefieren películas bélicas, otros tantos de súperhéroes, otros que tengan un trasfondo policial o detectivesco; en lo personal, me gustan las películas de acción que tengan una historia de fondo que no solo me atrape por los golpes, disparos y muertes espectaculares, sino que también me haga pensar y emocionar.
Siento preferencia hacia dos trilogías (una de las cuales tendrá pronto una cuarta entrega): John Wick y Taken, protagonizadas por Keanu Reeves y Liam Neeson, respectivamente. Pero en el primer lugar de mis películas favoritas de acción, se encuentra una con aires semejantes a las previamente mencionadas, pero esta solo cuenta con dos entregas y están protagonizadas por uno de mis actores favoritos dada su versatilidad y maestría a la hora de interpretar diferentes papeles: Denzel Washington en The Equalizer y The Equalizer 2. Robert siente especial cariño hacia Ralphie, quien es descendiente de mexicanos, porque busca un trabajo estable y bien remunerado para ayudar a su madre quien tiene un restaurante pequeño en la ciudad. Tengan el Home Mart y sus empleados muy en cuenta porque jugarán un rol fundamental para el desenlace de la película 1.
La segunda película, The Equalizer 2, ocurre tras los eventos de la primera entrega. Una amiga muy cercana de Robert, Susan Plummer (a quien conocemos junto a su esposo en la primera peli), es asesinada y McCall, sediento de venganza, averigua a través de sus propios esfuerzos y jura castigar a quien fuera que la haya matado y a quien ordenó su asesinato. En este interín, un joven vecino llamado Miles Whittaker, nuevo amigo y protegido de Robert (aunque dice que no le importa, le ofrece trabajo pintando un mural del edificio donde viven para ayudarlo a desatar su vena artística) decide unirse a una pandilla para mostrar su valor y obtener dinero para ayudar en su casa, ya que su hermano mayor, un prospecto del boxeo, había sido asesinado justamente por una pandilla y cegó su futuro prometedor. Esta similitud entre Miles y Ralphie me pareció muy interesante, ya que dos personajes de distintas películas que desean mejorar sus ingresos, uno por el camino del bien y otro por el camino "equivocado" (lo coloco entre comillas porque él pensaba que era lo mejor), fueron los que generaron en Robert un mayor apego y deseo de ayudar. Dos películas fantásticas llenas de acción e historias conmovedoras y muy ajustadas a la realidad, en la que sus actores hacen un trabajo maravilloso y todo el apartado audiovisual les da un plus increíble.

¿Qué me parecieron las películas?
En primer lugar, The Equalizer es una película muy buena. Hay acción de sobra, vemos peleas cuerpo a cuerpo, balaceras con todo tipo de armas alrgas y cortas, asesinatos sin piedad muy al estilo de películas como John Wick, donde Robert McCall asesina a un grupo de cuatro rusos con lo que va encontrando en la habitación, porque no necesitaba una pistola para matar a alguien, con solo una calavera de cristal le bastaba. No solo la acción que vemos es buena, sino que hay momentos de reflexión, de calma, cuando por fin podemos ver a profundidad las emociones de los personajes y descubrimos por qué son y cómo llegaron a ser quienes son en ese momento. También tocan temas que en ese año, 2014, e incluso en la actualidad representan delitos gravísimos que se cometen como si fuera lo más normal del mundo: la trata de blancas. Aquí se muestra cómo se da un golpe a los fundamentos de quienes promueven este comercio clandestino de mujeres jóvenes de distintas nacionalidades, que se aprovechan de su pobreza para comprárselas o robarlas de sus familiares y llevarlas a países primer mundistas para ser alquiladas como prostitutas, bajo la promesa de que mientras más clientes consigan y más dinero le generen, más rápido las soltarán. Incluso, algunas son engatusadas ya grandes para formar parte de esta red con prometiéndoles una nacionalidad extranjera, un nuevo comienzo o dinero que nunca llegan a ver porque al exprimirles hasta el último centavo a su cuerpo, las asesinan para reemplazarla por otra más joven y "fresca".
The Equalizer 2 nos muestra a un Robert más envejecido, pero tan letal como siempre. Tras los sucesos de la primera entrega, McCall desea aún más la tranquilidad, pero esta paz que había empezado a conseguir se vuelve a ver perturbada por una terrible noticia. Aquí vemos un despliegue mayor de acción, pero acción más planificada, no una locura de matazón sin sentido. Robert no solo es letal, sino que es muy inteligente y un estratega consagrado, ya que sabe diferenciar cuándo debe recurrir a la fuerza bruta y cuándo debe usar más su cerebro para tender trampas y acabar con sus enemigos. Su afán de ayudar a quienes lo necesitan sin esperar algo a cambio es una lección muy buena para el público, aplicar el popular "Haz el bien sin mirar a quien" y todo lo bueno vendrá a nosotros cuando menos los esperamos. En The Equalizer 2 también se tocan temas como la traición y venganza, además de la lealtad y amor por nuestros amigos más cercanos.

¿Por qué son mis películas favoritas de acción?
Soy partidario de que las películas de acción tienen que ser, dentro de todo, realistas y con una historia profunda para que se hagan un espacio en el corazón de los espectadores. Hay ejemplos de franquicias que han mutado, por ejemplo, Fast and Furious, que empezó como una película de carreras callejeras, la familia y la lealtad, y ahora todos son agentes secretos del gobierno americano que hasta al espacio en un carro modificado han ido. En la segunda entrega, Robert venga la muerte de su querida amiga Susan y protege a Miles de los pandilleros con los que quiere juntarse y del grupo comando que quiere cazar a Robert.

Me gustaría resaltar ciertas escenas de acción de las películas, por la cuales la convirtió en mis películas de acción favoritas. En la primera película, la escena del cuarto de operaciones de Slavi, el jefe ruso en Boston, donde Robert entra a negociar la salida de Teri de su catálogo de prostitutas tras la golpiza que le propinaron. Me encanta lo metódico que es Robert, que nada más entrar al cuarto va captando todo lo que hay a su alrededor: cuántos hombres hay, si están armados y cuál arma portan, qué le puede servir como potencial arma, qué estrategia puede usar para ser más eficiente... Y como cronometra la acción, ufff, espectacular. En esta misma película, ya finalizando, todo lo que sucede dentro del Home Mart es una auténtica locura. El despliegue táctico de Robert fue tan preciso que casi no logran herirlo, a pesar de tener una gran ventaja en números, armamento y municiones. No les diré más para no incurrir en spoilers, y menos del final de la película.
En la segunda entrega, Robert busca no ser tan agresivo como en la primera, pero las provocaciones son tantas que no puede más que sucumbir ante ellas. Aquí, el final es de locos. Después de la cacería que le montan y sus advertencias de no querer tomar acciones contra quienes están detrás de él, ya que solo quiere ajusticiar al asesino de Susan y quien dio la orden, ver como usa lo que lo rodea, de nuevo, a su favor para esconderse y atacar por sorpresa a sus adversarios que lo vuelven a superar en número y armamento es genial. Una vez más queda demostrado que hay veces que el músculo más fuerte es el cerebro (a pesar de que no es un músculo jajaja).

Todo el casting, la dirección y producción se fusionan en dos grandes películas del género que hoy celebramos, acción. Denzel, uno de mis actores favoritos del género, muestra lo grande que es para afrontar grandes retos, ya que no es fácil caracterizar un personaje tan profundo como Robert McCall. Chloë Grace Moretz a pesar de parecer lo contrario, interpreta a un personaje fundamental, ya que su aparición es la que desencadena en Robert la necesidad de rescatarla de las garras afiladas de la mafia rusa en Boston. No quiere que una mujer tan joven sufra más en manos de quienes la ven como mercancía, como un objeto de intercambio de sexo por dinero, dinero que ella no puede manejar a placer porque todo lo recolectado es dado al líder de la mafia. Ralphie y Miles, interpretados por Johnny Skourtis y Ashton Sanders, respectivamente, actúan muy bien el malestar que sienten por no tener suficiente dinero para tener una vida cómoda, y demuestran que están dispuestos a hacer lo necesario para obtenerlo y darles mayores comodidades a sus familiares. Este último es un sentimiento universal, todos queremos trabajar y obtener una buena remuneración por ello, para poder brindar una mejor calidad de vida a nuestros seres queridos y para nosotros mismos.
La amistad inquebrantable entre Susan y Robert es icónica de esta saga, ya que comparten muchas cosas en común incluso con el esposo de Susan, otro gran amigo de Robert. Estas dos películas son excelentes y si no las has visto, te las recomiendo desde el fondo de mi corazón, porque te vas a entretener muchísimo pero también vas a disfrutar de una historia bastante interesante.

La primera película me gusto mucho, la segunda a pesar de que fue entretenida, no vi necesario extender la historia, por supuesto ver a Denzel en plan justiciero o cualquier película que haga, es un placer para mi. Sí, la verdad que no he visto la primera película de Denzel que no me haya gustado, y espero no hacerlo. La decepción con las películas malas de Liam Neeson fue suficiente, no quiero ver a otro grande caer.
En efecto, la serie la protagoniza una mujer y tampoco la he visto. Es más, no conocía su existencia hasta que busqué las imágenes para ilustrar el post y vi que había una mujer en repetidas ocasiones con el título "The equalizer" y leí un poco pero no me vi muy interesado.
