LOVE HURT is an American action-comedy film directed by Jonathan Eusebio, released in 2025. I just watched the movie, and I was intrigued by the story, the flow of emotions, and how love changes perspectives. This inspired me to write about it.
COMEDY
Let's talk about the comedy aspect of the movie. I always enjoy an action movie with a touch of comedy—it makes everything more fun to watch and keeps you anticipating what’s next. Marvin Gable’s movements and fighting style in the movie are a mix of Jackie Chan and Donnie Yen. His fight with Raven at his office and his battle against the duo, King and Otis, in his kitchen at home were some of the most entertaining moments. They reminded me of the legendary Jackie Chan, especially when Marvin was trying to escape while protecting his award as the Regional Realtor of the Year. The scene where he tried to fend off Raven without drawing his colleagues' attention was also impressive—it’s tough to fight without killing, especially when the enemy is a hard nut to crack.
WHAT MEN DO FOR LOVE
I grabbed this phrase because I saw how love transformed both Raven and Marvin from heartless hitmen into sympathetic individuals who had grown "weak." Marvin defied his own brother to protect Rose, even at the cost of his life. This film reinforced the idea that true love never dies—despite the years that passed, Marvin still loved Rose. Even though Rose came back and ruined the life he had tirelessly built, he still fought against his brother and his gang to save her. Love can turn men into monsters, but it can also make them as vulnerable as babies.
Raven is another example—he fell in love with Marvin’s secretary because she understood the meaning behind his poetry. This proves that sometimes, all a villain needs to change is someone who understands them. Normally, as a hitman, if Raven was compromised, he would eliminate any witnesses. But just before taking action, he overheard Ashley interpreting his poetry over the phone. That small moment changed him. Despite trying to fight off his feelings, the connection was stronger than even the most powerful man alive.

FOES TURNED FRIENDS
Jeff Zakes wasn’t exactly a foe, but more of a rival to Marvin as a realtor. I don’t know who rushes into a gunfight armed only with black belt skills, but Jeff did—and it cost him his life with a headshot. At least he died fighting. Raven also stopped going after Marvin because he finally stopped fighting his feelings for Ashley. Love is truly dangerous. No, women in love are dangerous—especially when they find the one their heart accepts.

FAMILY
Alvin Gable and Marvin Gable are brothers. Siblings fight for different reasons—personal property, money, or even pride. But in their case, it was about loyalty and love. Who would turn his own brother into a bloodhound? Alvin did. Marvin, however, found love and wanted to change, but in doing so, he broke the gang’s rules, bringing hitmen to his doorstep. Money and love can make brothers turn against each other. But in the end, blood is thicker than water. Marvin didn’t have the guts to finish his brother off because he had changed. Meanwhile, Alvin seemed ready to pull the trigger just because Marvin refused to lick his boots.
This movie truly enlightened me about what love is capable of—crazy things that the victim can’t even imagine. If you want to understand, go watch the movie. I give it a 10/10.
