Blood Sisters is a thriller series, exclusive on Netflix directed by bandele and Kenneth gyang. I think the Nollywood industry is doing a great job so far. What we were given was entertaining and a clear improvement on what we already know. Nancy isime is one Nollywood actress I like seeing on my screen, she is a very talented actress.

The plot
Blood sisters tell the story of two best friends Sarah (ini Dima Okojie) and Kemi (Nancy isime) who became fugitives after the murder of a man. They find themselves running away from the law and the ruthless family of their victim.
The two ladies talk about Sarah's wedding to kola (deyemi okanlawon) and appreciate the bond between them. Meanwhile, kola's elder brother Femi(Gabriel afolayan) tells his wife Yinka(Kehinde Bankore) that he has found the assassin he sent to kill him at his wedding.
Fresh from the meeting with the board kola arrives at the rehearsal dinner and sees Sarah, he gets angry as he sees Sarah's ex-boyfriend shows up, causing a commotion. In an attempt to apologize, a remorseful Sarah gets punched in the stomach by kola.
Kola's mother (kate Henshaw) hates both Sarah and her family because they are poor, after the dinner Sarah opens up to Kemi and her mother about kola's abuse. Kola manages to overcome the hitman sent to kill him during the engagement party. Sarah after reflecting has a change of mind about getting married to kola, kola strangles her but is cut short when Kemi shoots him, causing his death. The ladies look for ways to cover up the crime.
Following kola's disappearance, his family is worried, while his drug-addicted sister, Timiyen accuses their brother of killing kola, his mother on the hand is happy that kola has come to his right senses to break the engagement. Due to the impossible, the ladies have a problem when a photographer has incriminating pictures due to his impossible blackmail they resort to killing him. Kola's body was later found and the search began for the girls, to escape the police the girls run away, facing different challenges thrown their way. With the help of Kenny, the girls plan to travel out of the country but their plans were cut short when he dies in the hands of an organ trafficker.
Kemi sustains a significant injury following their encounter with the organ trafficker, so the girl journey to her grandmother's town for assistance. During their stay, they were arrested by the police and taken to an abandoned warehouse by kola's uncle, uncle B (Ramsey nouah).
Kola's mother who seeks revenge asks Femi to kill the girls seeing his hesitancy timiyen offers to do the job, but she shoots uncle B instead of attacking the girls. The movies end with timiyen killing her brother and his wife and was pointing a gun at her mother's head
My expectation
I was expecting to see a little flashback of what happened to Kemi's family and how the two girls became close, like in rattlesnake how the movies began with a little flashback of ahanna's childhood. And how come Sarah understood Yoruba, does it mean Kemi understands Igbo also? they didn't show that to us though, wasn't impressed.
Blood sisters is not perfect I started questioning myself when I hit play and I saw kola drawing a portrait in an important board meeting, what was the meaning of that I mean who does that? There were a lot of characters and relationships introduced that could have used a little bit of enrichment.
Instance Kate Henshaw's affair with the minister, and the unwavering dedication of uncle B, why is he so loyal to the family? Which of Kate Henshaw's children belong to Mr. Ademola? What is the reason kate Henshaw showed favoritism for her son kola? Is it because the minister is her true love and causes kola to be a product of that relationship. Talking about kola's ex-girlfriend he abused almost all of them and I don't know why abasiama wants to be with him that badly.
The movie left a lot of questions unanswered which could be explored in the second season if there will be any realised soon🤷♀️.
The actors did a great job and the crew from the costumes to the makeup.
There were a lot of funny scenes though, Even in mourning kate Henshaw never faltered when she held her daughter's hand and told her she was useless. Something just tightened my chest like it would ridicule my whole career.
Imagine the Nigerian police vehicle embarking on a mission and they ran out of fuel very funny😄. I enjoyed seeing it though.
I would rate the movie 8/10.
Thank you for reading
Blood Sisters is a mini series that got quite the hype from people. It was really good to watch and see how our movie industry has improved over the years. However, I agree with you that this movie had a lot of questions go unanswered. The brief introduction of that minister had me wondering and expecting something big from the story but we just didn’t get that.
I never thought about this but I think you’re absolutely right. If we had seen something like this, it would have made us appreciate the bond between the girls. Sometimes Sarah got really annoying and you would wonder why Kemi was still so loyal to her. Although we were given a little insight on how far back they go after Kemi lost her parents, it wasn’t enough for me.
Something else that needed improvement was the cameras angles. Did you laugh during the fight scenes? Well I did😂. Apart from the awful fight scenes, sometimes the camera got shaky and blurry.
Finally, the ending. Oh My God I just wish the ending could have been way better. Their was really no closure for me. The main characters even become sidelined looking so unimportant. It just became a huge family issue that got very tragic. At least it should have ended with a bang from the gun but oh well. And what about Akin? What happened to Akin?
The series was good and I enjoyed it. Let’s just hope the industry gets better as time passes.
Good morning ☀️
You've taken me back to Akin, I forgot his part though, oh my God, the fight scenes were terrible, cause I didn't picture it to be that way. Well, so far so good I think Nollywood has improved unlike when they started.
I just want to know why uncle B was so loyal to that family, after everything that happened to him, even his arm got burnt he had to go to a clinic, take a little treatment then continue his search for the girls. The movie was entertaining, I enjoyed every bit of it. But they would have done better.
Thank you for stopping by.
With all the hype this movie gets, I do feel it would be a great show, albeit I'm not a big fan of Nollywood.
I remember when I showed it to my sister and she started raving about it.
Yeah the movie is a great show though, I find it interesting but a lot of things were missing.
Thank you for stopping by
