SCREAM VI --- Now that's a slasher movie!

I have been a bit disappointed with the horror or thriller films I watched recently. Although they weren't entirely bad, there's just something that's lacking.

One of them was a Sci-Fi slasher film, but I didn't really feel the "slasher" part of the movie. However, when I checked Netflix several days ago, I noticed that the 6th movie from the SCREAM franchise is available to watch... and so I did.

I actually re-watched SCREAM V and VI last Christmas Eve with my cousins and aunt. It’s become our tradition to choose a horror film for our annual Christmas movie night, and it never disappoints! haha

Anyway, let's talk about SCREAM VI.

NOTE: If you haven't watched SCREAM V, please do so first!

Following the Ghostface killings in Woodsboro (in SCREAM V), the four survivors, sisters Tara and Sam and the twins Mindy and Chad, decided to start anew. They all transferred to New York with Tara and the twins attended university. Sam on the other hand is trying to actively attend some therapy sessions.

While the three university students along with their newfound friends were partying, three Ghostface killings occurred which brought back all the trauma and worries of the group.

More than anyone, Sam worried for her sister's safety. She wanted to run away when the police called her because her ID was seen at the scene of the crime. Tara insisted on going with her for support, but they were then attacked by Ghostface on the way to the station.

And so, the killing and fighting to survive began... Here's the trailer of the said movie below.

To be honest, I haven't seen all the movies in this franchise. I believe I've only watched a couple of movies when I was very young, so I don't remember most of the scenes.

However, I decided to watch SCREAM V last time because of Jenna Ortega. hahah Yep... I'm a fan! I first watched her on YOU, then on Wednesday... and she's awesome!

I enjoyed SCREAM V, but I must say the sixth movie was more exciting for me... and I confirmed that when I watched them a second time during our family's movie night.

Classic slasher movies like these are way better than some of the new ones. I guess the last slasher movies I enjoyed were the Fear Street franchise which my cousins and I watched during last year's Christmas. And we're looking forward to watching the fourth movie soon!

Anyway, going back to SCREAM VI...

It's crazy what obsession can do to someone. Although SCREAM is just a movie, the events and the way the characters think have a hint of truth in them. I listen to True Crime podcasts and watch some documentaries and the things happening in SCREAM are pretty similar.

Some serial killers murder for the thrill... others commit crimes of passion... while others plan out everything. It's fun in the movies, but scary in real life.

Anyway, I enjoyed the film very much. One of my students may sometimes ask me, "Are you a psychopath?" for liking such movies and thinking that some horror characters are cute... but I mostly enjoy the psychology behind it. It's fun to relate movies to psychology.

It's not only applicable to horror or psychological thrillers but also to other genres. I guess that's the beauty of movies. We tend to see different sides to it.

Oh God I have seen many parts of this movie and it's time it doesn't fail to make me laugh but as you said that it is going to be a slasher movie so I am bit excited.

Slasher movies can be fun because of some foolish characters... :) But franchises like this is much better than some of the new ones I've watched. :D

Is there any website or something where I can watch this for free

I watched it on Netflix, but my cousin told me it's also available on Loklok app for mobile, but I'm not that familiar with it. :)

se ve bueno, interesante post!

looks good, interesting post!

Thanks!!!

I'm a fan of the Scream saga and while I consider both the fifth and sixth films very entertaining and fun; surely if I didn't know about spoilers I would have enjoyed them a lot.

The good and bad thing about this franchise is that everything is connected (the good) and that leads to the bad thing which is that it tends to be repetitive and that affects originality, although the fourth part I think is the most surprising in the whole franchise.

In a week the seventh film will be shooting which unfortunately will not have Ortega, nor the actress who plays his sister and main protagonist of the last two films.

I haven't watched the fourth one. I should check that out!

I guess the writers are aware of that... which is why some characters (Mindy and maybe the assistant professor) keep on reminding others (and the viewers) about things that attract the killer, DOs and Don'ts, etc (in a funny way).

It always goes back to the original! xDDD

Sad... but I'm still looking forward to watching it. :) Thanks for dropping by! :D
