They say revenge is a dish best served cold, and after this film I understand it better. But while trying to serve this dish, you decide to turn yourself to some of the major ingredients, so as the dish is complete and has an effect on the eater. It leaves others wondering why you Choose to work harder to make sure the victim become the victor.
I checked the meaning of the word Penance
but it doesn't really sum up to What I saw in the movie. But then again it left my Jaws dropping •
The movie Penance was written and produced by Mr Awal Abudulfati. You can also watch it on the movie app called Movie Box ( it's free and easy to use has Lots of movies there)
The film plays out the story of a Successful business-man Mr Majek, played by the awesome Veteran Wale Ojo.
Quite the business man, just happens to have a thing for for young girls.
He approaches them with nice things gifts and all the rest, the typical Sugar Daddy.
sometimes with his office girls, other times a random university girl.
These escaped have brought him not less than 12 Law suits , so I wonder if the girls where taking advantage of a rich mogul and suing him for his money or just making sure they get justice for been taken advantage of , but just never really gets served a satisfying answer, so they end up disappearing and going on with there lives.
This escapade of his is no longer secret, as his wife also want a divorce.
But then the Straw that breaks the Carmel's back, comes along in bundles.
A young Lady, gets posted to his Company, Miss Alice. Who claims to be a fan of the business mogul and loves to work under his Umbrella.
But there's trouble in Paradise when Alice returns home one evening Crying to her Sister that she has been raped. Her Sister who is a lawyer decides not to let the case go and reports to the police.
Fortunately they met an enthusiastic Detective , as he never fails to correct anyone who addresses him as an officer (In Nigeria every uniform wearing person is first referred to as officer, Despite your rank and department in the force . 😂)
The Detective Carries the Case diligently due to his own personal ties with the case ( The sister of the Detective was a rape victims) until evidence where found
Evidence 1: Blood stains In Mr Majek's office on his couch.
Evidence 2: A Missing button from his shirt was also found in his office.
He gets to be arrested for Sexual Assault .
But we see him begging fo mercy and arguing that he didn't rape the young Lady despite all the evidence found.
Then comes the twist Mr Majek didn't rape miss Alice infact he was seduced by her and nothing else happened as Alice stormed out of the office.
But sadly he is guilty not of this crime between him and Alice, but against a friend of Alice.
Alice had a friend in her University. Days, who Mr Majek had gotten Pregnant Abandoned her and left her to suffer the young Lady died in the Cause of child birth, and Alice swore to get revenge. But she made herself Sure an available Bait to make justice was served in full dose.
For one I liked the twist in the movie as it was unexpected.
Having to be deceived by Men who claim to like you and flips the moment everything goes South.
But then again not everyone gets justice for sexual assault in my part of the world.
So it took alot of work for Mr Majek to be cuffed and begging on his knees.
Remember the blood stain Little Miss Alice had implanted the evidence, and he lost his button while she was seducing him.
This film shows that at some point, not everyone would forgive a sin, especially a user.
And a warning to those mentors that always try to take advantage of there Mentees despite the fact that they should be Playing a more Serious and life changing role in the lives of these young one's rather than exploiting them in there little days of beginning.
