X-MEN'97 is an animated series based on the original 1997 product presented as a sequel that continues the story of the mutant saga in Marvel's shared multiverse. Combining the retro style of the twentieth century with the anime animation of the present, the series manages to stand out among others of the same type. What stands out more than the animation itself, are the feelings between the characters. Love, envy, anger, affection and family bonding are very present in the script. It reminds us of moments that we as people have experienced and witnessed in our lives, such as rejection, admiration, deceit and despair in certain cases, this series shows it. If you consider yourself to have a fragile heart, you may shed a tear or two if you get all the way into the plot.

It is not highly necessary to watch the original series in order to understand it, if in any case you saw the live-action movies you will probably understand more than enough. The events of X-MEN'97 take place on a different Earth than the one presented in the MCU but its events may impact future projects in The Avengers movies. Although not clearly confirmed, there is speculation that the Wolverine in this animated series is the same one presented in the 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine film, but we would have to wait for a second season to really confirm it.

The soundtrack is a remastered relic from three decades ago which was reused maintaining its essence but providing a superior euphoria in both its opening and ending. The sound quality surpasses even any original movie from the company and Fox Studios simultaneously. In some cases the sound is so synchronized with the animation that it can even generate a feeling of fear and suspense at the same time.

We have a very powerful villain who confronts the entire mutant team without exception. Bastion leaves a bloodpool between characters that makes us say goodbye to several of the X-team members in an unpredictable way. Our antagonist fits into today's world with his special abilities to infect living beings with his robotic DNA never before seen on the small screen. He reminds us of much of the technology we now own and use without realizing the consequences.
Tenemos un villano muy poderoso que le hace frente a todo el equipo mutante sin excepciones. Bastion deja un charco de sangre entre personajes que nos hace despedirnos de varios de los miembros del equipo X de una manera impredecible. Nuestro antagonista encaja en el mundo actual con sus habilidades especiales de infectar a seres vivos con ADN robótico nunca antes visto en la pantalla chica. Nos recuerda mucha de la tecnología que al día de hoy poseemos y usamos sin darnos cuenta de las consecuencias que estas puedan tener.
X-MEN from '97 is a classic that, if you are a truly fan of these characters and you haven't seen it, believe me, you have to see it. As a kid I grew up with these outcasts of society and I identify with their plight on a human level, and maybe you will too when you see it, probably nothing. At first I told myself I wouldn't watch it, but it ended up surprising me more than I expected. It's a 12 out of 10 with no exaggeration.
