Hello Hive friends ..
Watching a gala premiere is a fun thing for me, especially if the film is a famous and viral film. This time I got the chance to watch the premiere of one of the films from Thailand. A horror film wrapped in comedy makes the audience scared and laugh at the same time.
The film titled KANG MAK is adapted from a Thai film titled PEE MAK. The film starring Mario Maurer and Davika Hoorne became trending and viral because of its unique horror story wrapped in a good comedy. Here is a short story from KANG MAK, spoiler warning!
SYNOPSIS
Makmur is an Indonesian soldier who has to leave his wife, Sari who is heavily pregnant to go to war somewhere in order to defend the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia. Makmur fights with other soldiers, Supra, Jaka, Fajrul and Solah. His strong desire to meet Sari again makes Makmur and his friends survive on the battlefield. When he returns home, Makmur is reunited with Sari who has given birth to their child, Cipluk. Everything felt normal until the unpleasant news was heard, that Sari had actually died. Then who was the Sari they met?
GOING TO WAR WHILE HIS WIFE IS HEAVY PREGNANT
This story begins when Makmur decides to go to war for the country he loves. On the other hand, Sari, who is also Makmur's wife, is heavily pregnant and lives alone in the village where they live. Unfortunately, Sari accidentally slipped and fell which caused her and her child to die. The news was unknown to Makmur and none of the villagers wanted to tell him because Sari turned into a ghost and kept calling Makmur's name as Kang Mak. And the voice of the call continued to be heard when it was getting close to night and made the entire village scared.
A VILLAGE FULL OF ODDITY
After the war, Makmur and his friends decided to return to their respective hometowns. Because Makmur's hometown was the closest, they decided to go to Makmur's hometown first. On the way, everything went smoothly until they arrived at the village where Makmur and his wife Sari lived, all the strange things appeared.
Starting from a village that looked deserted and many residents were afraid of the presence of Makmur and his friends. Makmur looked happy because he met and lived together again with his wife and child. But not with the local residents, they felt strange because Makmur did not realize that his wife had died. Because of that, the residents were reluctant to tell Makmur what really happened.
DISCOVERY OF A SKULL WITH A CIRCULAR RING
After all these strange things made Makmur's friends suspicious and tried to find out what was really going on, until they decided to come to a shaman and ask the shaman about the strange events they had experienced. And without guilt, the shaman loudly said that Sari had died and the one with them was a wandering ghost.
This made Makmur furious and left the place, even though his friends tried to persuade him. Makmur was sure that the news was fake and his wife was still alive, but not his friends. They tried to find out the truth until accidentally one of Makmur's friends, Fajrul, found a human skull with a ring on her finger, which was believed to be Sari. Fajrul tried to tell the others until when he wanted to tell Makmur about the disaster that had befallen him, he was stung by a bee and made his face swollen and his lips had difficulty saying something. This is one of the funniest things in this film because throughout the film Fajrul could only say random things. Lol.
SARI'S TERROR BEGINS
After Makmur's friends found out about Sari who had died and the one with them was a ghost, they became protective of Makmur and tried to make Makmur realize that Sari was actually a ghost and not his wife who was still alive. They fought by trying to invite Makmur to leave the village, but Makmur was angry and felt that his friends did not believe him as well as those who thought that Makmur did not believe them. From here the conflict began and the chase with Sari's ghost made the audience scared and funny at the same time, because there were many scenes that made us laugh out loud.
ASKING FOR HELP FROM A SHAMAN
After Sari's terror act, Makmur's friends took Makmur to a shaman to ask for help to make Sari's ghost go away. But instead of making Sari's ghost go away, the shaman actually made the audience laugh because the many jokes he uttered to exorcise the ghost sounded very funny.
When trying to exorcise Sari's ghost, the shaman was actually defeated in strength and made all of Makmur's friends and the shaman tied up, leaving Makmur untied. Who would have thought that all this time Makmur had known that his wife had died and he was only pretending as if she was still alive. Hearing those words made Sari, who was previously angry, turn soft and a look of sadness appeared on Sari's face.
HAPPY ENDING
After Makmur said that he had known about his wife's death and still chose to pretend, Sari became softer and asked her husband to stay by her side even though he had become a ghost. And Makmur agreed, because he could not live without Sari. After everyone knows each other, they hug and Makmur's friends are no longer afraid of Sari.
That's the short story of the film KANG MAK. A horror film wrapped in comedy makes you scared but also laugh out loud. For those of you who haven't watched it, you must watch it for your entertainment at home.
