My Dearest Korean Drama

Hello, K-Drama lovers….!

It's been quite a while since I reviewed a Korean drama. It doesn't mean I stopped watching dramas, but lately I've been bored of watching Korean dramas. However… there's something that tickles me up to 21 episodes!

A Korean drama that takes place during the era of the Joseon invasion by the 2nd Qing Dynasty.

MY DEAREST

Although it takes place during the war when the conflict between the Qing dynasty and Joseon was heating up, My Dearest deliberately displays a romantic genre amidst the dark era of Joseon. Yoo Gil-CHae (Ahn Eun-Jin) is a noble princess in Nanggeun-ri who is very beautiful and is known to easily make young villagers fall in love with her beauty. However, in Gil-Chae's heart there is only Nam-Yeon-Jun (Lee Hak-Joo) who also falls in love with Gil-Chae's best friend, Kyung Eun-Ae (Lee Da-In).

The story doesn't end there, our male lead is a mysterious and very clever merchant named Lee Jang-Hyun (Nam Goong Min). Janghyun, who is known to not want to get married and is a misogynist, actually falls in love at first meeting with Gil-Chae. Until the end, no matter how heavy the conflict in this drama is, the focus of the story will return to our two central characters; Yoo Gil-Chae and Lee Jang-Hyun

CHARACTERISTIC

  • Lee Jang-Hyun (Nam Goong Min)

This mysterious figure who will make the audience annoyed and amazed at the same time is very well played by Nam Goong Min. His loyal story, his struggles after struggles for the person he loves is truly consistent until the end. Lee Jag Hun is a representation of the type of man who is very, very loyal and earnest. He is willing to cheat, willing to go through death several times to other unreasonable things for the sake of his lover.
  • Yoo Gil-Chae (Ahn Eun-Jin)

At the beginning of the episode, the audience might be very annoyed with the arrogance of Gil Chae. The arrogant Gil-Chae, the greedy and jealous Gil-Chae is very well played by Ahn Eun-Jin. However, as the episode progresses, Gil-Chae's character actually experiences significant development, she grows into a brave and loyal figure towards her best friend. In fact, she willingly lets the person she loves marry her best friend.

If other dramas for the romance genre only focus on sweet stories, the saeguk My Dearest is very detailed in the story of the Qing invasion of Joseon in order to win the Ming dynasty. The details of the conflict, the setting of the place, even the addition of characters that are not wasted at all make this drama definitely able to win the Baeksang award beating other cool dramas.

If you really like the seguk theme and it's not boring, I recommend My Dearest to be on your list. You won't feel like it wasted because all the characters play their characters well. I even really like the addition of Gak Hwa (Lee Cung Ah) who plays the role of the daughter of the Qing dynasty emperor

From this drama, I learned again, that men will try anything if they really love their women. So, are you interested in watching this?
