Today I bring you my opinion about a series that has given a lot to talk about these days because of the incredible work that HBO producers have done with Lakers: Time to Win, a series that has made them add an incredible amount of subscribers to their streaming platform. To begin with, I would like to tell you what the series is about.

Hoy les traigo mi opinión sobre una serie que ha dado mucho de qué hablar en estos días por el increíble trabajo que han hecho los productores de HBO con Lakers: tiempo de ganar, serie que les ha hecho sumar una cantidad increíble de subscriptores a su plataforma de streaming. Para empezar, me gustaría contarles de que va la serie.

Before I start telling you, I would like to clarify that I will not make spoilers for the series, so if you want to start watching it, you can read my opinion here and get an idea of what you are going to find.

This series is set in the late '70s and early '80s and is based on true events. It tells the story of what the NBA was like back then, a professional basketball league that undoubtedly lacked excitement, spectators and a good sports show like other sports at the time.

At that time, the NBA was suffering a severe economic crisis due to the same problems already mentioned, and also had only one dominant team known as the Boston Celtics, who won the championship every year.

What I like most about series and movies that are based on real events, are the performances of the actors with these characters, as they achieve a resemblance to the real characters without equal. that is why, in this series, you will see performances that, for me, are worthy of an Emmy award.

Jerry Buss
This character as I said before is one of the main characters of this series. He is played by Jhon C. Reilly, a renowned actor who, if you are movie lovers, you may remember him in movies like gangs of new york or magnolia, being the first one the most famous.

The work that Jhon does with the character of Jerry Buss is something impressive, the vibe that this actor transmits giving life to Jerry is very peculiar, he is that kind of character that you say how am I going to hate him? And that wins your affection in the first episode of the series.

Jerry Buss was a multi-millionaire businessman and also a chemist by profession. He had three great passions in his life: basketball, money and women. Thanks to Jerry Buss, a new era for the Los Angeles Lakers began in the late 1970s.

The other protagonist of this series is the living basketball legend Irving Johnson, known as Magic Johnson, a player who undoubtedly changed the sport forever and made it a spectacle that fans enjoyed watching.
El otro protagonista de esta serie, es la leyenda viva del baloncesto Irving jhonson, conocido como magic jhonson, un jugador que, sin duda alguna, cambio el deporte para siempre y lo hizo un espectáculo que los fans disfrutaban ver.
As I said before, the interpretation of real people in series or movies, never ceases to amaze me, and I emphasize this because the work of Quincy Isaiah playing magic, is something simply spectacular. If anyone is from this era, or follows the sport or simply researches what magic jhonson was like, they will realize what a great job this actor did with what is, for me, the role that took him to stardom.
Como les dije anteriormente, la interpretación de personas reales en series o películas, no deja de sorprenderme, y hago énfasis en esto porque el trabajo de Quincy Isaiah interpretando a magic, es algo simplemente espectacular. Si alguien es de esta época, o sigue el deporte o simplemente investiga cómo era magic jhonson, se darán cuenta del gran trabajo que hizo este actor con lo que es, para mí, el papel que lo llevara al estrellato.
This character begins as what he was at the time, an African-American rookie who, given his race, in this era of the '70s there was a lot of racism, so he had to face great challenges that he overcame little by little.

Have you ever wondered where the silhouette of the NBA logo came from? well I have, and that question was answered by this incredible series, as Jerry West was a great basketball player considered the best of his time, who had a very own style when carrying the ball which gave him the privilege of being the silhouette of the NBA.
¿Alguna vez se han preguntado de donde salió la silueta del logotipo de la NBA?, pues yo sí, y esa pregunta me la respondió esta increíble serie, ya que Jerry West fue un gran jugador de baloncesto considerado el mejor de su época, el cual tenía un estilo muy propio al llevar el balón lo cual le dio el privilegio de ser la silueta de la NBA.
This character in my opinion is very difficult to play, and the work that Jason Clarke does is impressive, although, I would never doubt the capabilities of this actor, as we have seen him in series like broterhood doing an excellent job.
Este personaje a mi parecer es muy difícil de interpretar, y el trabajo que hace Jason Clarke es impresionante, aunque, nunca dudaría de las capacidades de este actor, ya que lo hemos visto en series como broterhood realizando un excelente trabajo.
Jerry is a frustrated player, since after his retirement he can't stop thinking about the 7 consecutive Finals he lost against Boston, which caused him a quite remarkable depression, and his fundamental role in this series is to help the new generation of players to achieve what he never could.

There are other characters in this series, but in my opinion these are the most emblematic and the ones that, for me, give that magic to the series and make it something worth watching even several times.

You're probably wondering what the style of this series is like, if it's something documentary, if it's a slow plot, if you're expecting to see something like Michael Jordan's last dance on Netflix, well I'll basically tell you what you're going to find.
Seguramente te estarás preguntando como es el estilo de esta serie, si es algo documental, si es una trama lenta, si esperas ver algo como el ultimo baile de Michael Jordan en netflix, pues te diré básicamente con que te vas a encontrar.
If you like movies you probably know Adam McKay, an emblematic Hollywood director, and if you wonder how the series is, you can see the work of this director in incredible films, one of them being my favorite, known as the big short which is carried in a very similar way to the one that takes Lakers: time to win.
Si te gusta el cine seguramente conoces a Adam Mckay, un emblemático director de Hollywood, y si te preguntas como es la serie, puedes ver los trabajos de este director en increíbles películas, siendo una de ellas mi favorita, conocida como the big short la cual esta llevada de una manera muy similar de la que se lleva Lakers: time to win.
The work they do is incredible, they make sure that you as a viewer don't lose your concentration for a minute, have fun and at the same time understand these problems that may be tedious or difficult to understand for some people.
El trabajo que hacen es algo increíble, buscan de que tu como televidente no pierdas ni un minuto la concentración, te diviertas y a su vez entiendas estos problemas que quizá para algunos sean tediosos o difíciles de comprender.
An example of this is the big short, a movie that talks about the real estate financial crisis in the united states in 2008, a topic that is certainly not to the liking of all audiences, but Adam McKay managed to make it entertaining and that you could enjoy and learn while watching it. something similar happens with this series.

In my opinion, the director's work is impeccable, and the production behind him, he managed to record the series in a way that the viewer enjoys what he is seeing beyond the actors and the plot.

In Lakers, they do it incredibly well. Let's remember that this series is based on the early '80s, the clothes of that time, the hairstyles, the environment, the appliances that existed for that time, the colors, everything, really this production thought of everything, and is one of my favorites to take the Emmy in this category.
En Lakers, lo hacen increíblemente bien. Recordemos que esta serie está basada en principios de los años ’80, la ropa de ese momento, los peinados, el ambiente, los electrodomésticos que existían para ese momento, los colores, todo, de verdad que esta producción pensó en todo, y es uno de mis favoritos para llevarse el Emmy en esta categoría.
As for the makeup, you will notice that the actors I mentioned are perhaps easy to recognize with a photograph, but in Lakers, it is impressive the change they make to each one of them, the truth is an excellent job that is also one of my favorites to win the award.
En cuanto al maquillaje, se darán cuenta que los actores que mencione quizá son fáciles de reconocer con una fotografía, pero en Lakers, es impresionante el cambio que le hacen a cada uno de ellos, la verdad un trabajo excelente que también es de mis favoritos para llevarse el premio.

So far only 7 chapters have been released out of the 11 total that this first season of Lakers will have. Every Sunday we can enjoy a new chapter through the HBO max platform.

What I can say is that so far it has been a formidable work, it has an excellent plot and it is a series that you will enjoy even if you don't like basketball, since it deals with issues beyond the sport, and that without a doubt anyone over 18 can like it since that is its category.
Lo que, si puedo decir, es que hasta ahora ha sido un trabajo formidable, tiene una excelente trama y es una serie que vas a disfrutar así no te guste el baloncesto, ya que trata temas más allá del deporte, y que sin duda alguna puede gustar a cualquier persona mayor de 18 años ya que esa es su categoría.
The truth is that I recommend it with my eyes closed and I would dare to say that it is the best thing that HBO has released since Chernobyl, we will have to wait for the new series based on game of thrones that premieres in August. But all in all, Lakers is in the high end of hbo's work and I give it a solid 9/10 as a score.
La verdad que la recomiendo con los ojos cerrados y me atrevería a decir que es lo mejor que ha sacado HBO desde Chernóbil, habrá que esperar a la nueva serie basada en game of thrones que se estrena en agosto. Pero, en resumen, Lakers está en la gama alta de trabajos de hbo y le doy un sólido 9/10 como puntuación.

Yo voy por el episodio 6 y la serie está dando más de lo que esperaba, estoy ansioso por ver Adrien Brody haciendo de Pat Riley ya en la cancha con el equipo acoplado. la calidad HBO está presente en todos los aspectos de esta serie. Te me adelantaste con la review, pero no hay problema 👍👍
Adam McKay I think only directed the first episode. He's sure to get audiences hooked, regardless of whether they're sports fans or not, he's a great filmmaker.

Una mini serie y de HBO es sinónimo de calidad, anotándola, aunque no soy seguidor de este deporte, me agrada verlo en películas y series. me pasa igual que el Béisbol, solo lo disfruto en este tipo de historias, en la vida real no los veo XD

I have not seen it, neither have I ever heard of it until now.
There are particular genres of movies/series that I prefer to see and this one, Lakers... is not one of them. But with the way put it, and the great insight you have given, I am definitely giving it a shot.
