Bullet Train is quite simply one of the most hilarious films I have ever seen. Written and directed by David Leitch, the movie combines action with comedy in a manner that is crisp and novel. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Brad Pitt, and provides everything one would want from an action-packed blockbuster—tense fight scenes, smart lines, and a wide-open storyline. And come on, with Brad Pitt as the lead actor, the film had to be fantastic.
Plot
Ladybug (Brad Pitt) is a veteran yet hapless hitman in this tale of attempted execution. Ladybug is on a mission that should be easy: grab a briefcase on a Japanese bullet train. Things are never easy with assassins, though. Ladybug discovers that there are several other hitmen on the train, each with a motive, who are gunning for the same case. What follows is a chaotic, action-packed adventure filled with hilarious misunderstandings, brutal fight sequences, and some of the most entertaining character interactions I’ve seen in a long time.
Amazing Cast
One of the best things about Bullet Train is its cast. While Brad Pitt is most certainly the main attraction, the supporting cast—including Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry as the comedic assassin team Tangerine and Lemon—are just as funny and energetic as they are. Their banter and chemistry are among the biggest delights of the movie. Any scene with them is full of snappy dialogue, surprising emotional moments, and sheer comedy gold. The movie also has Joey King, Andrew Koji, Hiroyuki Sanada, and even some surprise celebrity appearances that add to the amusement.
Top Tier Comedy and Action Sequences
The comedy in Bullet Train is first class. It's not only the dialogue that creates the humor; the physical comedy and ridiculous scenarios make it all the more delightful. Brad Pitt's character, Ladybug, is always looking to avoid fights, which produces some of the most absurd and entertaining fight scenes. The manner in which the movie toys with luck and destiny also provides an additional layer of humor—Ladybug gets himself stuck in bad situations, but in the most improbable ways, things turn out okay for him.
Visually stunning
Aesthetically, Bullet Train is beautiful. The neon-lit look of the train, accompanied by stylish visuals and choreographed action sequences, creates an thrilling viewing experience. The action scenes are not only intense but also innovative, making use of the cramped space within the train in innovative ways. The movie never gets too serious, so the action becomes fun instead of over-the-top dramatic.
Brad Pitt's Brilliant Performance
I know I have talked about Brad Pitt quite a few times before but the film wouldn't be so good without him. His comedic delivery, natural charm, and skills at performing action scenes make Ladybug one of his most enjoyable performances. He is cast with the right amount of relaxed energy and exasperation, making him both endearing and funny.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Bullet Train is an amazing blend of action and comedy. It's fast, full of twists, and really fun to watch. If you want a movie that is entertaining from beginning to end and a movie that never gets too serious, this is definitely it. With a great cast, stylish action, and some of the funniest scenes I've ever seen in a movie, Bullet Train is definitely a must-watch.
