I spend most of my free time watching movies. You could say I watch movies all the time these days because we’re on Holidays and I have nothing doing. My taste in movies generally changes with time depending on what I’m feeling. These are 3 movies I like no matter my mood or the number of times I’ve seen them.
This movie is about a boy, Finch, in his teenage struggling with depression. He doesn’t fit in in school or among people because he believes people like to put labels on him because he’s different. Some of his mates even call him “The Freak”. He becomes friends with violet, who is coiled up in her protective shell becoming anti-social after she lost her sister in a car accident. In fact, her very first meeting with was on the bridge where the said accident happened. It would appear she wanted to jump off the bridge and fortunately, Finch going for his morning jog approaches her and her talks her down from it.
They meet at school the following day and they just hit it off as friends. Coincidentally, they get paired up for a class project where they ate tasked to explore some wonders of indiana with their partner and they spend some quality time together and become more attached. Violet helps Finch deal with his depression and he helps her cope with the accident too.
This movie shows how everyone is different and the fact that just because you don’t act the standard of how people want you to doesn’t make you weird or crazy. It also teaches us to treat people better because we don’t know what they’re going through.
The movie is about a debuting hip-pop artist, Owen, whose career is taking a major hit because of an incident he had on stage where he puked on Wizkhalifa. Yhh he movie features a lot of real artists including Dj Khaled, Young MA and Desiigner. His best friend from day one, Jeff, takes it upon himself to manage Owen to the top and get him a record label. Following the said puking incident, his dad decides he should leave for the marines in 3 days since his music career just met a sad ending.
The story is about the series of events that happen on their 5-day quest to sign him to a record label. Get some popcorn for this one, you’ll love it. You’ll especially love this show if you like hip-pop, have a hood sense of humor and appreciation for comedy.
You’ll see the importance of having good friends and why you shouldn’t lose hope even in the worst of situations after watching this movie.
This is actually a Tv series. I’m telling you you can’t miss this movie. It’s about the Ghallagher family, a dysfuntional fun family in south side Chicago. You would expect the parents of a family to be head of the family. Things are a bit different with the Ghallagher family with a drunk single father and a bi-polar mom who ran away with her lesbian partner.
Fiona
Fiona the eldest in the family takes care of her siblings because Frank, their father clearly can’t live up to the task. She works multiple jobs to keep a roof over her family’s head, selflessly making her siblings her top priority even over her own self. Fiona has a thing for bad boys and gets entangled with Steve, a car thief(whose real name is not even steve bit actually Jimmy). She gets in and out of toxic relationships and her siblings live some very cool lives too.
Lip
Lip(Phillip), who comes after Fiona goes to college, parties crazy and dates some very pretty girls. He even has an affair with one his professors some time that obviously doesn’t end well. He is the brains guy of the family but unfortunately hos career is short-lived when he knocks up a girl and becomes a father.
Ian
Ian is the gay, bipolar brother who is also a drop out and has a shitty and toxic dating life. His boyfriend, Micky at the beginning wouldn’t even reveal to people he was gay because of how much his dad hated gay people. It was so serious his wife had to hire a sex worker to “fuck the gay out of him”. This Obviously didn’t work.
During one of his bipolar episodes, he calls himself “gay jesus” and recruits kids from the LGBTQ+ community into his church.
He works many jobs, one of which, he was a stripper at an all-gay club. He later runs away and try to join the US army with a fake ID, then tries to steal a helicopter and gets caught.
Derby gets knocked up by some guy and becomes a single mom against the better judgement of Fiona to abort. Carl joins the army too legally though, and dates some very cool girls too.
I like this movie a lot because as much as their family does crazy stuff, you can actually relate a lot to the lives of most of the characters. The movie also teaches about how we need not to waste opportunities in our young ages.
I watched shameless and it's pretty fucked up story. Carl was quite hilarious and Fiona, is like their motherly figure in the family. I haven't watched until the end though, maybe one of these days, I'll finish watching all of it.
This is why I love Shameless. It’s all shades of fucked up😅and that makes it so much fun. There’s nothing the Gallaghers won’t do. I also haven’t finished it yet. I am on the 10th Season atm and will finish everything soon. I’ve been caught up on a lot of other shows. What movie would you recommend for me if I like Shameless?
I don't think there's anything as fucked up as shameless. It's just its own mess category haha.
Haha you know the show is the best when there’s nothing like it.
I've never seen or even heard of any of this films. I need to branch out a bit more I guess!
Yes these aren’t really part of the elite movies everyone knows. But I believe they’re some of the best movies out there that just aren’t known all that much. You should check them out. You might like em🙂
hidden gems always resonate with me so this is actually perfect. It reminds me of when a friend recommended Korean thrillers to me many years ago and I was like "really? Korean films?" and starting to watch those was one of the best cinematic changes I made in my life.
Professional critics can't be trusted and the big studios just crank out the same films with slightly different story-lines year after year so lists like this actually help a lot.
